Chapter 197: Chapter 197: The Demon Emperor

Hearing her mother, Myria did not sit back down. Instead, she walked slowly down the crystal steps, her expression entirely unbothered.

"An alliance with Uranos would have been a dead weight, mother. He is a coward wearing parade armor. The moment a real threat appeared at our borders, he would have fled and left our vanguards to die. I will not tie the Dark-Moon Empire to such a pathetic weakling."

Her mother sighed, stepping closer to her daughter.

"Perhaps that is true. But what worries me far more than the Prince’s bruised ego is what you said to him right before he left."

Myria stopped moving. Her icy eyes narrowed a little.

Her mother, Machina Noctivale, continued:

"You told him you belong to another person. Myria, you are the Empress. You belong to this Empire and its people. You have spent your entire life bleeding to conquer these sectors and take the throne from Helion. Who is this man? What kind of warlord has completely warped your mind like this?"

At her querying, Myria unknowingly smiled. Her red lips curved in to enchanting arc..

The very thought of Neo made her blood run hot despite the freezing temperature of the room.

"He is not a mere warlord, Mother. He is a God. He possesses strength that makes the very universe tremble."

Her mother stared at her in sheer horror, while Myria added:

"When his Zenith Vanguard finally turns its gaze toward our northern sectors, you will understand exactly why I am keeping this throne warm for him."

Her mother took a trembling step back, realizing the terrifying truth. Her brilliant, ruthless daughter had not just fallen in love.

She had been utterly and completely conquered.

It made her wonder.

Just who is that man?

Back on Eximious-28.

High above the bustling streets, within the sprawling architecture of the newly seized imperial palace, Noir strolled leisurely along an open windy corridor. She leaned gracefully against the marble balcony, silently enjoying the vibrant night view of the Capital City sprawling far below.

Even amidst the lingering political tensions and the violent whispers of recent uprisings, the ordinary citizens simply went on with their mundane lives. Down in the glowing taverns, some men drank rich wine until they entirely passed out. Others wobbled clumsily along the enchanted roads, while solitary scholars and weary merchants could still be seen working diligently behind their illuminated desks through the open windows.

A quiet, unexpected pang of envy tugged heavily at her heart.

"Why cannot the lesser demons live like this?" she wondered silently, watching the peaceful humans.

"Why do they completely lack the basic rationality to just remain calm? Why are they forever cursed to lust only for mindless battle and absolute destruction?"

As a Fallen Angel, Noir inherently belonged to the demon race. However, she, along with the high ranking royal and noble demons, were the rare fortunate exceptions to that maddening, inherent blood curse. The vast majority of her kind were little more than ravenous, unthinking beasts driven by pure carnage.

She had no idea who originally placed such a cruel curse upon the demonic bloodline, or what twisted, ancient creator had designed them to be so eternally broken.

Yet, as she watched the peaceful human city sleep under the starlight, her blue eyes turned determined.

Under Emperor Neo’s supreme banner, she was entirely determined to restore her falling race. She would find a way to cure their fractured minds and ruthlessly rip her people away from the oppressive, hypocritical clutches of those damned Saint Lands.

Suddenly, the air around her turned heavy, thick with an oppressive, crimson atmosphere.

She stopped dead in her tracks, her eyes narrowing in intense caution.

"Haha, it has been so long, Noir. Did you forget your dear old dad?"

Accompanied by a hearty chuckle, a towering, monstrous figure materialized out of thin air.

He stood 7 feet tall, with pale skin and muscles that looked as though they were carved from solid granite. Two massive crimson wings extended from his back, and two dark red horns rose sharply from his brow.

Everything about his presence was deeply intimidating.

Yet, above all else, Noir’s own facial features bore an keen resemblance to his.

It was undeniably her father: the Demon Emperor.

Noir did not back away, nor did she bow. She merely adjusted her posture, her own demonic aura erupting out to cushion herself against his suffocating pressure.

"Father, You are a very long way from the Abyss. What brings the supreme ruler of the Demon Realm into these mortal border sectors?"

The Demon Emperor let out a deep, booming laugh that caused the marble balcony to vibrate violently.

"Can a father not check on his rebellious daughter? You abandoned the imperial court years ago, claiming you would find a way to lift the ancient blood curse that binds our people. And yet, here I find you, staring longingly at human cities like a sentimental mortal."

His loud grin faded into a stern, majestic authority.

The crimson aura around him rose higher, reflecting off the night sky.

"Sigh, the Saint Lands are rallying their next Holy Crusade. The border skirmishes are growing worse by the day. Our lesser demons are succumbing to their maddening battle lust faster than ever before. I need my strongest general back at my side, Noir. Stop playing house among these fragile insects and return to the Abyss where you belong."

Noir replied,

"I am not playing house, Father. Everything I have done in these realms has served a singular purpose. While you sat on your iron throne watching our people rot from within, I actually found the answer."

The Demon Emperor sneered, "An answer? There is no cure for the curse woven into our very souls, girl. Do not let foolish human sentimentality blind your judgment."

"It is not foolish sentimentality," Noir retorted with a predatory grin

"I have found the Primordial One."

Rumble!

The words echoed like thunderclap.

The giant demon froze.

"Wh-what did you just say?" he echoed, visibly shocked.

"You heard me right, father. He possesses the pure Primordial Demon Physique. The golden time for demons will be initiated by his own hands."

Her declaration rang like a sacred oath across the quiet night.

"I will be returning to the Abyss soon. And when I do, I will not be coming back merely as your subordinate or your general. I will be returning alongside him as his wife. Prepare the grandest halls of the capital, Father. You are about to meet your son-in-law."

For the first time in ten thousand years, the invincible Demon Emperor stood completely speechless.
