Chapter 245: Chapter 245: In The Dark

The edge of existence did not make a single sound when it sealed shut behind him.

Neo stepped through the ruptured boundary of his unified universe, leaving the blinding golden perfection of Zenith Prime completely behind. He had ordered his generals to remain on the defensive line. He had ordered the Ancient Gods to guard the perimeter of their reality.

The Emperor of the Cosmos had chosen to enter the endless night entirely alone.

Right now, he stood suspended in a space that defied every law of reality he had just finished conquering.

This was not simply a dark room. This was not the vacuum of outer space. Even the Outer Fringe, the cosmic graveyard where he had slaughtered the Prime Deities, possessed the concepts of distance, gravity, and time. The Dark Universe possessed absolutely nothing. It was the primordial ocean of nonexistence.

Neo looked back over his shoulder. The universe he had unified was now just a minuscule, glowing marble floating in an infinite ocean of black pitch. It looked incredibly fragile. The Supreme Arbiter had been right. Their reality was nothing more than a desperate, localized quarantine. It was a tiny bubble of logic hiding in a sea of supreme madness.

Then, the glowing marble vanished. The dimensional membrane healed perfectly, cloaking his home universe from the outside predators.

Neo was truly alone.

He turned his attention back to the endless dark. His physical body, a flawless vessel forged from absolute universal laws, immediately began to undergo catastrophic rejection. The Dark Realm was inherently hostile to the concept of form. It hated logic. It hated existence.

The familiar blue and gold interface of the System violently flickered across Neo’s vision. The text turned into unrecognizable, jagged symbols.

And the transparent panels cracked like fragile glass, bleeding gray static into his eyes, before shattering completely.

The System, the very foundation of his growth since he was a mortal, died in the dark.

Neo did not panic. He remained perfectly calm, analyzing his new environment.

He tried to activate his right eye. He pushed the authority of Absolute Stasis outward, intending to freeze the immediate area to create a safe perimeter.

Nothing happened.

Absolute Stasis required the concept of time to function. It required moving particles to halt. There was no time here. There were no particles. The supreme law of physics simply fizzled out, entirely useless in a realm that physics had never touched.

Neo narrowed his eyes. He channeled the authority of Holy Eradication into his left eye, unleashing a torrent of blinding white fire meant to incinerate anything hiding in the shadows.

The holy fire erupted from his pupil, but it did not illuminate the dark. The flames silently choked and died mere inches from his face. Eradication required matter to consume. It required a physical target to destroy. The void simply swallowed the divine energy without leaving a single trace behind.

"Fascinating," Neo whispered to himself.

Even his voice did not travel. The sound died immediately on his lips. There was no air to carry the acoustic vibrations. He was speaking purely through the residual conceptual weight of his own soul.

All of a sudden, a creeping dread began to pool in the pit of his stomach.

It was an instinctual terror, the kind of primordial fear a deep sea prey feels when the water suddenly grows too cold. He was the Type One Primordial Origin. He was the undisputed God of Hell. He had assimilated the universe. Yet, standing in the Dark Realm, he felt incredibly small.

The sensory deprivation was absolute. He could not see. He could not hear. He could not feel any temperature. The only thing tethering him to sanity was the suffocating dark matter radiating from his own chest, a grim reminder of his Abyssal roots.

Then, the darkness moved.

It was not a physical movement. It was a metaphysical shift, a sudden agonizing pressure on Neo’s isolated consciousness.

The massive, lightless silhouettes he had seen from the balcony of Zenith Prime were circling him. They had no edges. They had no faces, no limbs, and no identifiable anatomy. They were living manifestations of pure void, towering anomalies that eclipsed the size of entire galaxies.

One of the entities drifted closer.

Neo felt his solidified starlight bones begin to violently ache. The entity was not attacking him with magic or physical force. It was simply existing too close to him. Its sheer presence was actively attempting to overwrite Neo’s existence. It was forcing a horrifying truth upon his mind. It whispered without words that he did not belong here, that he was an error, and that he must be erased.

Neo refused to be erased.

He summoned the Sunfire Judgment Blade. The massive weapon materialized in his grip, its blade roaring with a mixture of silver starlight and pitch black hellfire. He gripped the hilt with both hands, channeling every single drop of his infinite Cosmic Force and Nether Force into the impending strike.

He swung the heavy blade directly at the encroaching silhouette.

SLICE!

The sword passed cleanly through the entity. There was no resistance. There was no impact. The explosion of cosmic energy simply vanished into the entity’s form, completely absorbed by the endless void.

The silhouette loomed directly over him. A localized pocket of the Dark Realm opened up like a jagged, toothless maw.

An unbearable agony tore through Neo’s mind. The entity was eating his memories. It was consuming his concepts.

Neo dropped to one knee, clutching his head as the void aggressively stripped away his mental defenses. He felt the memory of his first victory fading. He felt the memory of his Zenith Empire cracking under the pressure. The entity was unmaking the Emperor from the inside out.

"You cannot fight the dark with light," a voice echoed in his fracturing mind. It was not the System. It was his own Dominator Core, the supreme talent that had always allowed him to adapt, conquer, and rule over every obstacle in his path.

Neo gritted his teeth, his bottomless dark matter eyes glaring up into the shapeless void.

His laws of physics were useless. His divine fire was a joke. His cosmic sword was a toy. The universe he had conquered was a fragile, protected nursery, and this was the true wilderness.

If he fought like a god of light, he would die here in the dark.

"Fine," Neo growled. "If logic does not exist here, then I will become illogical."

Neo released the Sunfire Judgment Blade. He let the ultimate weapon of his universe dissolve into nothingness. He deactivated the holy fire of Eradication in his left eye. He deactivated the golden light of Stasis in his right eye. He shut down every single protective barrier, every divine shield, and every conceptual anchor tying him to the light.

He opened himself completely to the Dark Realm.

The void entity paused, momentarily confused by the sudden lack of resistance from its prey.

Neo did not just let the darkness touch him. He reached deep into his Dominator Core and violently reversed its polarity. Instead of generating energy to push the void away, he turned his soul into an infinite, metaphysical black hole.

"I am the Sovereign of Death. I am the Emperor of the Abyss. You think you can consume me? I will swallow you whole."

The Dominator Core spun in reverse.

Neo began to actively devour the dark.

The massive, shapeless entity suddenly let out a conceptual shriek. It tried to pull away, realizing too late that the tiny speck of light it had tried to eat was actually a hyper condensed predator.

Neo latched onto the entity’s nonphysical form. He tore chunks of pure void out of its existence, dragging the illogical matter directly into his own chest. His body rapidly adapted, shedding its ethereal translucent perfection for a terrifying, shifting coat of absolute nothingness.

The pain of assimilation was worse than absorbing the Prime Deities. He was forcing his localized reality to digest something that fundamentally could not exist. His mind fractured a billion times, bleeding into the void and forcefully knitting itself back together using the dark matter of the enemy.

Neo laughed, a dark, hollow sound that finally echoed through the silent realm.

He was no longer bound by the universe. He was mutating into a native of the true cosmos.

The massive entity thrashed wildly, but Neo’s grip was absolute. He consumed the silhouette piece by piece until nothing remained but an empty stretch of the Dark Universe.

Neo stood up slowly in the endless night.

He looked at his hands. They were no longer made of flesh, starlight, or divine energy. They were made of the very void he had just killed. He could feel the Dark Universe now. He could feel its currents. He could sense the trillions of other lightless leviathans swimming through the primordial depths.

His first day alone in the dark had stripped him of everything that made him a god. It had stripped away his System, his laws, and his light.

But it had given him something far more terrifying.

Neo raised his head, his eyes now glowing with a sickening, inverted black light. He was no longer an invader. He was a resident.

"One down," Neo said to the endless, watching void. "Trillions to go. This realm belongs to Zenith now."
