Chapter 248: Chapter 248: The Universal War

The three Fate Regulators did not listen to the warning. They operated entirely on predetermined logic. To their mechanical minds, an anomaly was simply an error that required a stronger correction. They raised their glowing golden quills in perfect synchronization, pointing the tips directly at Neo.

Their faceless visages flashed with blinding light. They began to frantically write a new absolute law, attempting to sever Neo from the fabric of existence.

"Elimination protocol initiated. The anomaly is removed. The anomaly was never born." the three Regulators chanted in unison. Their voices were hollow, metallic, and devoid of a single soul. "

Neo simply smiled.

"I told you," Neo whispered. "Do not bother."

SNAP!

Neo did not even move his hands. He merely projected a microscopic fraction of his Dominator Core outward. The absolute void crashed into the three Fate Regulators like an invisible tidal wave of dark matter.

CRACK!

The golden quills in their hands shattered into a million pieces. The pristine white robes of the Regulators violently imploded. Their bodies compressed inward, crushed by a gravitational force that defied all narrative laws.

In less than a second, the three physical manifestations of the world’s absolute rules were reduced to three floating spheres of condensed gray ash.

Neo exhaled, and the ash blew away in the wind, erased from reality forever.

The cobblestone plaza fell entirely silent. Lyra knelt on the wet stones, her silver hair plastered to her cheeks by the rain. She stared at the empty space where the invincible enforcers of her universe had just stood. She could not comprehend the magnitude of what she had just witnessed.

"They are gone. You killed them just by looking at them."

"They were nothing but ink and paper," Neo replied calmly.

He then turned his gaze toward the towering crystal spire in the center of the city. The obnoxious golden light radiating from the peak of the spire was beginning to aggressively pulsate. The Architects of Destiny were panicking. The foundational threads of their reality were vibrating with pure, unadulterated terror.

"Are we going to climb the spire now?" Lyra asked. She grabbed the edge of Neo’s black suit, her small hands shaking. "Are we going to kill the Architects?"

Neo looked down at the little girl. The inverted black light in his eyes softened for a fraction of a second.

"No," Neo answered. "A single assassin sneaking into a tower to kill a corrupt king is a story they understand. It is a classic narrative. It is a trope they can easily comprehend and perhaps even manipulate. We are not going to give them a story, Lyra. We are going to give them a cataclysm."

Neo stepped away from the little girl and walked toward the absolute center of the sprawling plaza.

He raised both of his pale hands toward the sky. The massive, translucent clockwork gears hanging above the city were frantically turning, desperately trying to weave new destinies to counter his presence. Millions of golden threads rained down, attempting to bind his movements.

"A true Emperor does not conquer a universe entirely alone," Neo declared. His voice began to echo, carrying the immense, crushing weight of his Primordial Authority. "I promised you a slaughter, Lyra. And a slaughter requires an army."

Neo closed his eyes and reached deep into his soul. He activated Universal Synthesis. He bypassed the laws of narrative, bypassed the rules of Aethelgard, and reached his consciousness out into the boundless dark of the true cosmos.

He searched through the primordial ocean of nonexistence. He bypassed the graveyards of the void leviathans. Finally, he found the minuscule, glowing marble he had left behind six months ago. He found Zenith Prime.

"Open," Neo commanded.

He grabbed the fabric of reality with his bare hands and violently pulled it apart.

RIIIIIIIP!

The sound was deafening. It sounded like the universe itself was screaming in agony. A massive, jagged black line appeared in the middle of the cobblestone plaza. The air around the tear began to warp and bleed.

KABOOOOOM!

The black line exploded outward, expanding into a colossal, swirling vortex of dark matter, silver starlight, and roaring hellfire. The portal eclipsed the surrounding buildings, growing to be hundreds of feet tall. It was a gaping wound in the golden tapestry of Aethelgard, a direct tunnel bridging two entirely different realities.

The clockwork gears in the sky abruptly halted. The golden threads of fate surrounding the plaza instantly caught fire, burning into black ash as the suffocating aura of the Zenith Empire poured through the gate.

Lyra covered her face with her arms, shielding her eyes from the blinding mixture of cosmic light and abyssal darkness radiating from the portal.

"What is that?" Lyra yelled over the deafening roar of the spatial rift.

"That is my kingdom," Neo replied.

THUD.

A massive, armored boot stepped out of the swirling vortex.

THUD. THUD. THUD.

The ground beneath the plaza began to violently shake. The cobblestones cracked and splintered as the first figure emerged from the gate.

It was General Malakor, the Commander of the Abyssal Vanguard. He was a towering behemoth, standing over twelve feet tall. His armor was forged from condensed supernovas and the bones of the Ancient Gods they had slaughtered in their own universe. His eyes burned with violent crimson hellfire. He carried a massive broadsword that radiated absolute destruction.

Following closely behind Malakor were the Starlight Valkyries. These were ethereal warriors floating just above the ground. Their wings were made of pure, blinding silver cosmic energy. They carried spears that could pierce the fabric of space and time.

Then came the Hellfire Behemoths, massive demonic hounds the size of mortal houses. Their jaws dripped with liquid magma, and their roars sounded like collapsing mountains.

Thousands of soldiers poured through the portal. Tens of thousands. The sprawling plaza was instantly flooded with the Zenith army. These were not mortal men. These were assimilated gods, ascended demons, and primordial horrors that Neo had conquered and bound to his absolute will.

The sheer conceptual weight of the Zenith army caused the surrounding buildings of Aethelgard to physically groan and collapse. The world of predetermined destiny could not support the mass of so many anomalous entities.

General Malakor approached Neo. The massive behemoth immediately dropped to one knee, driving his heavy broadsword into the cracked cobblestones.

CLANG!

The entire army of Zenith followed suit. Tens of thousands of terrifying cosmic entities knelt in perfect, absolute synchronization before the ten year old girl and the man in the black suit.

"My Sovereign," General Malakor said, his voice was a deep, rumbling growl that vibrated through the stones.

"We heard the call of the Prime Dominator. We guarded the borders of Zenith as you commanded. We did not expect a summons to a new hunting ground so soon. The Ancient Gods await your orders."

Neo looked out over his kneeling army. His bottomless black eyes burned with intense satisfaction. He had missed his empire. He had missed his generals. He has missed his wives.

"Stand, Malakor," Neo commanded.

The massive general rose to his feet. The rest of the Zenith army stood in perfect unison, their weapons drawn and ready for absolute war.

"Where are we, husband?" asked Noir. "This universe feels incredibly fragile. The laws here are restrictive. They feel like a script."

"You are incredibly perceptive, My Wife."

"This is the universe of Aethelgard," Neo explained to his generals. "It is a world governed by narrative weight. The entities in that spire call themselves the Architects of Destiny. They write the lives of mortals. They dictate every victory, every defeat, and every tragedy just to create a compelling story. They believe they are the absolute authors of existence."

General Malakor let out a low, mocking laugh. The Hellfire Behemoths snarled in agreement, their magma jaws dripping onto the wet stones.

"Authors," Malakor sneered. "How arrogant. Do they possess any actual cosmic strength?"

"No," Neo answered. "They possess parlor tricks. They possess reality manipulation bound entirely by their own rules. They only have power because the residents of this world believe in their story."

Neo gently placed his pale hand on Lyra’s shoulder. The little girl flinched slightly, but she looked up at the terrifying army with a mixture of fear and profound awe.

"This child summoned me," Neo told his generals. "The Architects decided her family needed to burn to death to serve as character development for their chosen hero. They decided she needed to be a sacrifice. She rejected their script, and she called for the true dark."

Noir looked down at the little silver haired girl. The Dark Empress knelt gracefully, offering Lyra a warm, radiant smile that contrasted heavily with the apocalyptic army behind her.

"Fufu. You are a very brave little one," Noir said softly. "You have excellent taste in saviors."

"Thank you," Lyra whispered, her eyes wide as she stared at the glowing dark wings of Dark Angel.

Neo stepped forward, addressing his entire army. His voice carried across the plaza, echoing through the empty, rain slicked streets of the Capital of Providence.

"Zenith Vanguard," Neo roared.

"HAH!" The entire army shouted in unison, slamming their weapons against their chests.

"The Architects of Destiny believe they write the rules of reality," Neo declared. "They believe every soul is bound to their golden threads. Today, we are going to burn their library to the ground. We are not here to assassinate them quietly. We are here to conquer their narrative. We are here to introduce them to absolute, uncontrollable chaos."

Neo raised his hand and pointed directly at the towering crystal spire.

"March on the spire. Tear down the golden threads. Slaughter anyone who wears the white robes of fate. Show this universe that our ink is much, much thicker than theirs. Leave nothing standing!"

ROAAAAAAR!

The Zenith army erupted into a deafening battle cry. The Hellfire Behemoths charged forward, their massive paws shattering the cobblestones. The Starlight Valkyries took to the sky, launching explosive spears of silver energy directly into the massive clockwork gears.

BOOOOOOM! KABOOOOOM!
