As the battlefield erupted in chaos, with forces clashing and ground collapsing, one area stood apart from the turmoil. It wasn’t slower or calmer; it felt sharper and quieter, like a blade slicing through flesh without a sound.

At the center of this eerie calm moved Vanthrice, her bronze spear flickering in and out of existence as she navigated the ruins with a rhythm that contrasted sharply with the frenzy surrounding her. She didn’t shout or waste breath on words or anger; her face remained calm, her eyes focused.

Each movement was precise and purposeful, every step measured, every strike executed with clarity. While others charged through enemies with brute force or emotional outbursts, she advanced as if carving a path through a problem she had already solved in her mind.

An enemy fighter rushed at her from the front, blade raised high. His speed was decent, his footing steady despite the broken ground beneath him.

But to Vanthrice, he might as well have been standing still. Instead of retreating or shifting away, she stepped forward into his range, her spear already moving before his strike descended. The tip cut through the air and met his throat just as his blade began its descent. There was no clash or resistance, just a soft sound as metal sliced through flesh. She continued stepping forward as his body froze; his weapon fell from his hand while blood poured forth in a thin stream that widened upon impact with the ground.

She didn’t glance back at him. She was already moving again.

Two more attackers approached from her left, one slightly ahead of the other, timed just enough apart that she could handle them separately. Adjusting her stance slightly, she shifted her weight onto her front foot and lowered her spear for an instant before snapping it forward in a quick thrust that pierced the chest of the first assailant. Rather than withdrawing immediately, she used the momentum to pivot on her foot sharply, swinging the shaft of her spear in a wide arc that slammed into the jaw of the second attacker with a dull crack that sent him stumbling sideways.

In one fluid motion, she pulled free from the first body and stepped forward again, adjusting her grip along the shaft for better reach as she thrust toward the second man’s neck. The tip slipped cleanly through before he could regain his balance; both bodies collapsed almost simultaneously onto the ground with heavy thuds that blended seamlessly into battlefield noise.

Her breathing remained steady. Her gaze never wavered.

More foes approached now, a tighter group of four, moving together more cautiously to surround her while watching each other closely for openings. But Vanthrice offered none. She took one small step back to force them to adjust their formation before shifting sideways just enough to break their alignment. As one stepped too far forward to correct it, she seized her chance.

Her spear lunged forward in a quick, sharp thrust aimed at his abdomen, not deep enough to kill, but just enough to provoke a reaction. As he instinctively brought his weapon down to block, she twisted her wrist slightly, redirecting the tip upward into his chest instead.

The angle shifted at the last moment in a way that caught his defense off guard. She stepped closer, her shoulder brushing against him as she passed, using his body as a shield for just an instant while the other three attacked simultaneously.

Their blades came down but struck nothing but their own ally. By the time they realized it, she was already behind them.

She didn’t turn fully; there was no need. Her spear moved again, the shaft sliding through her hand as she adjusted her grip for a shorter reach. The tip sliced sideways in a clean arc that opened the throat of the nearest attacker.

She continued smoothly around his falling body, positioning her foot perfectly for her next target. He turned too slowly, weapon still mid-swing from his previous attack, and her spear drove forward into his chest with enough force to push him back a step before she pulled it free.

The last one hesitated, just for a moment, but that was all she needed.

Vanthrice closed the distance in two swift steps. Her spear lowered as if preparing for another thrust, forcing him to raise his guard. Instead of attacking directly, she stepped to his side and smoothly turned her body while bringing the shaft of the spear up and around to hook it behind his neck for an instant before pulling sharply.

The movement broke his balance completely; he stumbled forward just as she reversed her grip and drove the tip of the spear down through the back of his neck, ending him before he could even fall properly.

She stepped away from them as they hit the ground, her spear lightly dripping with blood as she adjusted her grip once more. Her eyes scanned the battlefield calmly for any new threats without showing urgency or panic. Around her, chaos erupted in bursts of noise and force, yet this area felt different, quieter in a way that made each death feel sharper and more deliberate.

Then came a group of elites, five of them, each exuding a heavier presence than their counterparts with thicker armor and more controlled movements.

Unlike others who rushed in blindly, they spread out slightly to form a loose circle around her, each one watching intently; they understood that simple numbers wouldn’t overwhelm her easily. One stepped forward slightly with a low stance and angled weapon as he spoke quietly: "You’re fast... but you’re alone."

Vanthrice didn’t respond; instead, she shifted her stance, left foot forward and right slightly back, with her spear held at an angle covering both offense and defense. Her body relaxed yet ready and then she moved.

The first elite charged at her, his strike swift and powerful, aiming to shatter her guard with brute force. But she didn’t confront him head-on; instead, she sidestepped gracefully, her spear deftly redirecting his blade away from her body as she glided past him.

Her shoulder brushed against his arm in that fleeting moment, and with precision, the tip of her spear found the gap beneath his arm, perfectly angled and deeply thrust.

She didn’t pause. Pulling the spear free, she surged forward toward the next attacker. Lowering her body helped her evade a horizontal slash by shifting her center of gravity and stepping inside the arc of the attack.

With a quick snap of her elbow, she struck the man’s chin to throw off his balance before driving her spear into his chest with enough force to send him staggering back.

The third and fourth attackers moved in tandem this time, one from each side, with improved timing and clear coordination. But she adapted instantly. Her footwork shifted in rapid little steps that kept her just out of reach while her spear danced in controlled motions, intercepting their strikes at the edges without allowing them to fully connect. She guided their attacks away just enough to avoid damage while setting up for her own counter.

Then she waited for a half a second and then she sprang into action, a quick thrust to the right forced one opponent to block, immediately followed by a pivot to the left. Her spear cut through the air in a diagonal arc, striking the other across the torso with enough force to break his stance. Before either could recover, she closed in again, executing two clean and precise strikes that finished them off seamlessly.

The last elite hesitated, just like all those before him, but Vanthrice wasn’t about to give him any time to regroup. In an instant, she closed the distance between them; no feints or tricks, just a direct thrust that pierced his chest and ended the fight before it had a chance to continue.

Five elites taken down, all on her own.

She stood there for a moment, lowering her spear slightly as she exhaled slowly. Her breathing remained steady; her expression unchanged as her eyes scanned the battlefield once more, already searching for her next target.
