Building The First Adventurer Guild In Another World
Chapter 348: The Last Sentinel [ 2 ]The black veins across its golden frame glowed brighter. Its right arm unfolded, reshaping itself into a massive blade longer than Valeria’s entire body, while its left arm formed a heavy shield covered in layered formations.
The pressure it released was far beyond the smaller guardians, and even the floating bubbles above trembled slightly in response.
Valeria looked up at it. For the first time, she shifted her sword into both hands.
Crimson mana erupted. It did not flare wildly like an uncontrolled explosion. It rose from her body in a dense, terrifying wave, thick as blood mist and heavy enough to press the surrounding air downward.
The broken fragments around her feet trembled before being pushed away, sliding across the marble floor as if bowing to the pressure. Her crimson hair lifted around her face, and her eyes glowed with a colder, sharper light.
The blood aura crawled along her broadsword until the entire weapon looked as though it had been forged from red lightning and fresh blood.
Above her, Sage felt the mana wave brush against his skin and involuntarily tightened his grip on his staff. This was different from before. Valeria had finally stopped treatingthe golems as obstacles and had acknowledged the last sentinel as something worth cutting properly.
The sentinel charged. Its first step shattered the floor beneath it. Its second step brought it halfway across the battlefield. Its third step turned its massive body into a golden blur as it swung the enormous blade downward. Valeria stepped forward instead of retreating, her crimson sword rising to meet it.
When the two blades collided, the resulting shockwave shook the entire treasury so violently that several floating bubbles drifted out of formation and Sage had to release more wind currents to stabilize them.
The shockwave flattened piles of broken golden scrap and sent fragments skidding across the floor.
The sentinel’s strengthwas monstrous, but Valeria did not bend. Her boots dug into the marble, cracks spreading around her feet, and with a slight twist of her waist, she redirected the massive blade to the side before driving her shoulder into the sentinel’s chest.
The impact sounded like a thunderclap.
The sentinel staggered. That single step backward was enough.
Valeria disappeared. She appeared at its right knee and cut through the joint before the sentinel could adjust its shield. The massive leg buckled, but the guardian reacted with frightening speed, swinging its shield sideways to crush her.
Valeria ducked beneath it, spun once, and punched the inside of the shield arm near the elbow.
BOOM!
The joint caved inward, and the entire left arm jerked uselessly to the side.
The sentinel attempted to bring its blade around again, but Valeria was already climbing its body through sheer speed, stepping off its damaged knee, then its waist, then its chest, each movement leaving a burst of crimson energy behind.
She reached its shoulder and drove her sword into the side of its neck. The blade sank halfway through the armor, but the sentinel’s core flared, releasing a violent blast of golden energy that tried to throw her off.
Valeria’s expression did not change.
She tightened both hands around thehilt and pulled.
The sword tore through the neck plating, ripping apart layers of ancient alloy and severing several glowing rune channels. The sentinel roared without sound, its entire frame shaking as it tried to crush her between its blade and shield.
Valeria dropped from its shoulder before the weapons met, landed on the floor, and vanished again. This time, her movements were even faster. She appeared at the sentinel’s back and cut through its spine-like mana conduit.
She appeared at its left side and removed the damaged shield arm completely. She appeared in front of it and punched directlyinto the center of its chest.
BOOM!
The armor dented, but the core held. A faint smile almost touched Valeria’s lips, not from amusement, but from the simple recognition that the final guardian had endured one strike.
The next strike ended that recognition.
Her crimson aura condensed tightly around her sword, no longer spreading outward, no longer forming mist or waves, but compressed into a thin, sharp edge that made the blade hum with deadly pressure.
The sentinel raised its massive weapon for one final attack, all remaining runes burning at once. The entire hall shook as goldenenergy gathered around its blade, threatening to wipe out everything in front of it.
Sage’s expression changed, and he instinctively moved to shield the others, but Valeria was already moving. She crossed the distance between herself and the sentinel in a single flash of red. Her sword cut upward from the ground, passing through the guardian’s blade, arm, chest, and core in one seamless motion.
For a heartbeat, nothing happened.
The sentinel remained standing, its blade still raised.
Valeria appeared several meters behind it, her sword lowered at her side. The glowing line on the sentinel’s body slowly widened.
Its massive blade split first. The arm followed. Then the chest opened, revealing the core inside, already sliced cleanly in half. The crimson-gold light flickered once, twice, then died.
The last sentinel collapsed forward, its enormous body breaking apart before it reached the floor, falling in pieces that crashed across the marble with a final, thunderous boom that echoed through the treasury like the closing note of a war drum.
Silence followed.
No new golems emerged. No gates opened. No crossbows fired. No spear formations advanced from the shadows. The golden runes along the walls dimmed slowly, one after another, and the terrible pressure that had filled the lower hall gradually faded.
Broken guardians lay scattered across the treasury, their once-proud bodies reduced to mountains of scrap metal, severedlimbs, crushed cores, and shattered weapons. The floor was ruined, the pillars damaged, the air thick with dust and dying mana sparks, yet for the first time since the guardians had appeared, the treasury became completely still.
Valeria stood alone amid the wreckage, her crimson sword resting calmly in one hand as if she had merely finished a light exercise. Her breathing remained steady.
Her eyes swept once across the broken gates, then across the silent hall, before she slowly looked upward toward Sage and the others.
"Continue."
Her voice was calm. Simple. Almost bored.
The Guild members stared at her for several seconds before anyone moved.
