Chapter 40: Chapter 39: Effective
While Caesar was walking on the crowded streets in the night, the voice of Mrs Plank replayed in her head.
"Ferrosyx. It gives them a boost.
Makes them stronger, faster, more durable, heightens adaptation to pain and heightens sensitivity to pleasure. In exchange it makes them feral and looney.
The longer the user goes on, the higher the growth of these... And the shorter their life becomes.
You were reaching closer to your death."
"Ferrosyx, huh?" Caesar said within, "To think that I would be fighting under the influence and almost die in the act... Damn. Can’t believe I was so close to ending up on a T-shirt.
Small amount and I was moving crazy; a large or medium amount and that T-shirt thing would have a reality.
Now, I have to keep going for monthly treatments otherwise it’s bye-bye.
Even though Mrs Plank is the one paying for it to make up for endangering my life but still.... Fifty thousand yons.."
Caesar halted.
"Should I even bother sending the money to the Mizukais to accelerate the debt payment or should I keep it for other purposes? After all, they take ninety percent of my EBW pays. It’s not like the ten percent would do anything for me.
Come to think of it, I never bothered to even check how much the company pays me after a match.
I’ve wrestled two matches and I’m preparing for my third on Thursday, and I have no clue on how much I’m getting."
Caesar turned her face to a shop nearby and the picture of a fair skinned muscular male wrestler wearing trunks.
"Thursday." Caesar said in her mind, "The day to see if I can backup everything I said or not.
When I fought Kaezan, I beat him because of the drugs, but would I have been able to do that without it? Yeah, I almost died but without ferrosyx, would Kaezan have taken the gold and just dipped?
More importantly, Mrs Plank said it makes one act looney and feral, but did it create a new me...?"
"Or did it simply remove the brakes?" Caesar continued as she recalled her deranged grin while covering one eye with her hand as she vowed to spite Akari.
"I have accepted I have to be a monster to survive." Caesar said softly to herself after the recollection, "I have accepted that hesitation in that ring invites pain and failure, but..."
"Never mind." Caesar said as she tilted her head down.
Right before Caesar could resume walking, the door of the shop nearby opened and two men, a dark skinned man with a head warmer and a blonde fair skinned man stepped out of it.
The men paused for a moment and the fair skinned man spoke as he pointed at Caesa.
"Yo, look. It’s that rich EBW chick that is with the Mizukais."
The dark skinned man stared at her for a moment and smiled.
"Yeah. Yeah, you’re right. It is her."
"And looking at her upclose, she’s looking pretty fine." The dark skinned man continued as he measured Caesar with his eyes while his smile grew.
Caesar however, turned her face away and continued walking.
While Caesar was walking, the fair skinned man leaned close to the dark skinned man’s ears and whispered.
"You saw her fight?"
"Of course, I did." The dark skinned man answered while rubbing his palms together and smiling with his tongue sticking out menacingly.
Elsewhere in towering skyscraper, the office within was ornamented with gold as Raizan sat on his chair, staring at multiple holographic screens in the air.
The one in the middle showed the video of the graveyard fight between Caesar and Kaezan earlier as Kaezan delivered a nine-piece combo of punches across Caesar’s face but she wasn’t fazed by them.
Raizan’s eyes shifted to the other hologram screen and saw the numbers rising.
Raizan’s eyes then moved to another holographic screen and saw countless comments flooding in.
"Yo, an EBW graveyard fight was not in my MM-20 bingo card list."
"Am I the only one who finds this hot and spooky?"
"Okay, just hear me out."
"Damn, didn’t know she was moving like this."
"She is so hot."
"She’s crazy and crazy is my kind of thing."
"I can fix her."
"Hmph." Raizan said softly as he titled his head.
"Sir, you have a visitor of the name Rin Mizukai." A feminine ai voice informed.
"Let her in." Raizan said.
The sound of the door hissing resonated and Rin walked into Raizan’s office.
"Good evening, eldest brother." Rin said as she adjusted her spectacles, "I came to you to report about something..."
Rin turned her face to what Raizan was staring at and saw the holograms.
She quickly took notice of Caesar’s graveyard fight and the rapid rise in the ratings.
"Is that... Kaezan Aris?" Rin asked.
"Yes, it is." Raizan answered, "You were busy so you obviously did not see the news of his escape neither did you get the information of him in the graveyard with Miss Moon."
"Apparently, Kaezan broke into the graveyard in hopes of robbing a grave just to pay off his debt, but he was intercepted by Caesar Moon." Raizan continued as Rin glanced at him, "The graveyard owner was generous enough to hand me the tapes, believing I want to do damage control..."
" But I never had any intentions of that." Raizan said as he rested both hands on his jaw, "Whatever they discussed was certainly about how they got into EBW but thanks to the audios of camera owner being faulty, nothing was gotten.
When I took the video, I sent it to one of the higher-ups of the company and let them do whatever they wanted with it.
And of course, they posted the video on their website and the reactions were rather... Pleasant."
"I can clearly see it." Rin said, "The numbers rising. The reactions and the likes heavily outweighs the dislikes."
"And the people are falling towards her." Raizan said, "I may not be into this... Ero-wrestling of a thing, but I learnt that her debut alone in the ring generated more .... ’heat’ than what several ero-wrestlers had gotten for years.
The people hate her because of what they think she represents... Nepotism.
To the point they would cheer a disturbed racist like what is his name again...? Nero Rogue? Yes, they would rather cheer for him over her."
"Yet, her match with Nero was among the highest rated matches last week." Raizan said as Rin glanced at him.
"I see." Rin said.
Rin resumed facing the holographic boards and spoke.
"You’re planning something with the furback, aren’t you?" Rin asked.
"Still being prejudiced against the beastfolks?" Raizan asked.
"What I don’t like, I don’t like." Rin answered.
"Yet you are willing to wrap them in ribbons if they prove useful to you, correct?" Raizan asked.
"I can already tell where you are going with this and I’m becoming interested, eldest brother, so say it." Rin replied.
"Akari could be sitting on a gold mine but her desire of breaking people overwhelms her senses of profit." Raizan said, "Her debut with Cardinal. Her match with Nero, and now this graveyard fight with Kaezan. The numbers don’t lie."
"Caesar Moon could be profitable." Raizan continued as he tilted his head, leaving his right face overshadowed while his right eye gleamed, "Very profitable."
"Indeed. But she is Akari’s property. Both her and Kaezan." Rin said.
" ’Correction’... She is ’Mizukai’ property." Raizan replied, "After all, we unanimously agreed with Akari to place Miss Moon in EBW.
I gave the final vote."
"And what about the other furback, Kaezan?" Rin asked.
"What about him?" Raizan asked, "We are discussing about success... Not failures.
Akari can keep him. If she wants to conduct her experiments on him, I could care less."
"And what if Caesar collapses?" Rin asked as she turned her gaze at Raizan, "What if she falls short of expectations?"
"Then she was never worth the investment." Raizan answered, "But I don’t believe she’ll collapse just yet.
Right now, Miss Moon is fighting to keep her brothers safe, and I can tell she harbors some sort of hatred towards Akari."
"How so?" Rin asked.
"Akari has been the one bothering her the most. Akari was the one who suggested placing her in EBW and outrightly admitted she would put her in a brothel instead." Raizan answered, "I saw the ’wrestling gear’ Akari made her wear.
With this kind of person, there are two emotions that would be swirling in the victim: fear... Or hate."
"Okay, but what does that have to do with Caesar not collapsing?" Rin asked.
"Hate is a very strong emotion." Raizan answered, "It can drive people to do things they never imagined they would do. Make questionable choices and gives terrifying will.
Akari can be at times, her own worst enemy. She would obviously have told Miss Moon that she is not making her life hell for the money but just to satisfy herself.
And like I said earlier, hate can give a terrifying will."
"So you are saying that Caesar would out of hate, will herself to not fall just so she wouldn’t give Akari the satisfaction?" Rin asked.
"Yes." Raizan answered.
"Hmmm." Rin said.
"But before I make my move, I’ll need a few more observations, and that involves her next match with him." Raizan said, "The one they call... Damien Bane.
Whether she wins or loses, doesn’t matter to me.
What matters is her personal performance and how well match went. After all,it is impossible for one to always win."
"And of course you understand when I say this..." Raizan continued as he twirled a pen round his index finger, "Miss Moon will eventually pay off the debt, but if we act, we can make far more than the five million she owes."
"All my life, I never imagined you of all people would get interested in something like ero-wrestling, eldest brother." Rin said as she adjusted her glasses.
"Two debtors have been thrown into EBW and we haven’t recovered our money from them." Raizan said, "Obviously, someone has to step in.
Seven hundred thousand and five million means nothing to us but a Mizukai never lets a debt go unpaid.
Ero-wrestling is disgusting, make no mistake about it, but right now, the rod is becoming hot with Miss Moon and it’s best to strike while it is."
Rin nodded her head in agreement and kept quiet for a while before she spoke.
"I came to tell you something but with what you have proposed, I believe what I have doesn’t matter."
Rin turned her back and walked towards the door, however she halted and looked over her shoulder.
"Once again it seems you made the right choice disposing of him."
Raizan however said nothing and the door before Rin hissed open, allowing her to walk out of the office.
As soon as Rin left, Raizan’s eyes moved to the holographic boards.
After staring at it, he shifted his sight to a portrait that had the image of an enormous red devil standing with it’s right arm extended forward while a man stood in front of it in fear as he tried to shield a weeping woman and baby.
