Chapter 46: Chapter 45: Bloody Hell
In the morning as Caesar was working in the Balland and Barnes Bakery, drawing out the baked cake from the oven, she conversed in her mind.
"Got to do my workouts today unlike yesterday where I had to rest throughout the morning because of the ferrosyx treatment and it felt refreshing."
Caesar recalled herself earlier in the morning doing her pushups, situps, pull ups, squats, punching her fists in a bowl of rice, practicing her strikes on a tree and jogging on the streets.
"Yeah, really refreshing." Caesar continued after the remembrance, "Still... How many days has it been and Balland hasn’t made a return."
"He said his because of his issues he wants no phone calls, no visitations, nothing." Caesar said in her heart as she placed the cake beside her, "I’ve thought of this before and I’m still thinking if his issues are about me. Trying so hard to get the Mizukais off my back.
And I still can’t stop thinking that the Mizukais are the reasons behind his disappearance. Like what if they kidnapped or possibly killed him?
What if-"
"Hey, Caesar, Bring the cake!" A masculine voice sounded.
"Oh! Sorry!" Caesar said as she caught herself, carried the tray and rushed towards the direction of the voice.
Later in the small building, Caesar sat among other people while wearing the same promotional black top they also were wearing that had gold colored writing that had the large words of "Dazzle" on it and the promotional cap as well.
She also wore a black leggings and black sneakers and watched as her flyer boss, Mr Pulpsack was talking.
"Okay as you all know, Dazzle magazine is having their first year anniversary and they want us to promote it!
You know the drill: Go out there and make them care! At the end of the day, I want to see little to no flyers in your hands!
They paid us too handsomely for this!"
While Mr Pulpsack was talking, Caesar spoke in her mind.
"I swear by now I would have been in the Sanity gym training with Cedric for my match tomorrow. I’ve gotten so used to going to the crazy old weirdo that now, it feels almost empty. Like a part of my life is now missing.
Still, I wouldn’t be here if Mr Pulpsack didn’t call."
A flashback takes place as Caesar who had just finished her shift at the Balland and Barnes Bakery, was walking on the road and suddenly heard her phone ring in her pocket.
Caesar brought out her phone, stared at the screen and saw the person calling was Mr Pulpsack, leading her to answer the call.
"Hello, boss." Caesar said as she placed the phone on her right ear.
"Hello, Caesar. I called to ask you to join our new promotional work." Mr Pulpsack said.
"’Boss’, it’s Wednesday." Caesar said flatly.
"I know, I know." Mr Pulpsack said, "And I know we did something like this before but I really need your help with this."
"How much?" Caesar immediately asked.
"Well, Caesar-"
"If I’m going to come over today, you better be able to pay a reasonable fee otherwise I’m cutting this call." Caesar said, "So how much?"
After the recollection, Caesar sighed.
"Four hundred yons for the days work, huh?" Caesar said within, "But really, I should have some words with him about contacting to work on the days we didn’t agree.
This is starting to get irritating."
"By the way, is he juicing?" Caesar asked within with an arched brow.
Caesar took notice of the large portions of Mr Pulpsack’s biceps and how his top barely seemed to contain them.
"Yo, really. They were nowhere this huge last week." Caesar said within.
"Now. Any questions?!" Mr Pulpsack asked his employees.
Among his employees, a skinny fair skinned man raised his hand.
"Yes. Skhini." Mr Pulpsack said as he pointed at him.
Skhini stood on his feet while smiling and spoke.
"Sorry, sir.... But are you juicing?" Skhini asked.
The question of Skhini made Caesar facepalm herself and the others quickly followed.
"Oh brother." Caesar said within.
"Yo, what the hell, Skhini?" A masculine voice sounded.
"No, I’m serious." Skhini said to the others as he shifted his gaze towards them, "His muscles are far bigger than it was last week and the week before. It’s way too big.
He’s definitely on steroids!"
Mr Pulpsack crossed both arms as his left brow twitched and a single vein pulsed on the left side of his cheek.
He then smirked.
"No. No, I’m not on steriods." Mr Pulpsack answered, "But here is the thing, Skhini, if you spent more time working on your body and less worrying about mine, then maybe just maybe your girlfriend wouldn’t have cucked you for a bigger, much better looking guy than youself."
Hearing those words, Caesar snorted and covered her mouth to prevent her laughter from coming out while the rest of the employees chuckled.
Skhini glanced at his workers before tilting his head down in shame.
"Now sit down." Mr Pulpsack said to Skhini.
Skhini complied and sat down quietly.
"Alright, any more ’questions’?" Mr Pulpsack asked as he took a quick look at his employees.
Mr Pulpsack immediately noticed a female beastfolk raising her hand up to ask.
"Alright. No more questions. Let’s go." Mr Pulpsack said as he turned his face away.
"Looks like Skhini’s question left him in a foul mood." A female coworker beside Caesar said as she stood on her feet.
Later as time passed, within the streets of Yangnan, Caesar and her crew which comprised of a dark skinned human male with yellow and black dreadlocks, a short fair skinned human male with a moustache and a blonde fair skinned female beastfolk with leopard ears and spots on her hair, were successfully sharing among the residents on the streets.
After a while, the female beastfolk with the leopard spots smiled.
"I got to say, work seems to be going well. Almost too well."
"I’ve been in this street before. The people here are pretty chill as long as you don’t overstep." The dark skinned man said.
"And look, we’re almost done with our flyers." Caesar said as she pointed at how little her and her team’s flyers were.
"Aye. I think we should be coming here more to get things done." The short man said, "From now on, let’s be making requests to Mr Pulpsack to be sharing flyers here."
"That would be nice." Caesar said.
"Yeah, it would." The leopard female beastfolk said.
"Remember: As long as you ’don’t. over.step’ then all will be good." The dark skinned man said as he turned his sight towards the short man, "Trust me... You don’t want to meet the other side of these people."
"Come on, man. It’s not like I have a record for doing something outta pocket." The short man replied with a smile.
"Uh-huh." The dark skinned man said as he turned his face away, "Just stay away from drinking when you are in this street.
Still don’t trust you after that incident you pulled when you got drunk."
Caesar and the leopard beastfolk glanced at each other before they returned their gaze to the short man.
"Excuse me, are you the ones sharing those flyers?" A feminine voice asked.
Caesar and the others turned to the direction of the voice and saw a fair skinned woman that had a long jet black hair that was parted at the left side and yellow irises.
"Can I have one?" The woman asked with a smile.
"Sure." Caesar replied as she handed her over a flyer.
The woman took it and started reading it.
"Dazzle magazine is hosting their first anniversary event next month and it is going to be big... Very big." Caesar said to the woman, "You should come."
"Of course it will be, and I expect to see you there. All of you." The woman replied.
"Huh?" Caesar said in confusion.
"The name is Dazzle... Mary Dazzle. I am the owner of the Dazzle magazine." The woman said as she raised her head to look at the four workers, "And I’d like to thank you all for helping promote my company."
Hearing her words, Caesar and the others glanced at each other in astonishment.
"No need to thank us, ma’am. We’re just doing our jobs." The dark skinned man immediately said.
"Yeah. Uh... We’d be happy to promote your company anytime." The leopard beastfolk said with a nervous smile.
"Actually, there is a need to thank us." The short man interjected as he stepped forward with a huge smile while closing his eyes, "After all these hard work leaves people all dried up from the sun."
At the moment he said those words, the eyes of the leopard beastfolk widened.
The dark skinned man face palmed himself while Caesar turned her face away.
"Actually, aside from the event, I was hoping to interview you four individually on Friday." Mary Dazzle said with a smile, "I have a scheduled interview with your boss on Saturday, so having you four the day before doesn’t sound bad."
"Our boss?" Caesar asked.
"You work for Mr Pulpsack, do you not?" Mary asked.
"Yes, we do." Caesar answered.
"Good. On Friday, I’ll interview you guys individually and Saturday I’ll interview your boss." Mary replied, "In the meantime, thank you for your work and good luck."
Mary smiled once more and turned her back to walk away.
After Mary had gone, the four stayed quiet for a time until the short man spoke while smiling with both hands round his waist.
"Looks like my hard work paid off."
"Your hard work?" The dark skinned man asked with an arched brow.
"Have you been drinking again?" The leopard beastfolk asked with a smirk.
The short man chuckled and replied.
"Just a few sips in the bus."
"Come on. We got work to finish." Caesar said to the three as she walked away.
As time had gone, the four were walking and discussing with each other without a single flyer in their arms.
During that time, the short man suddenly halted and scowled in confusion as he looked forward.
"Great mother’s milk."
Caesar and the other two looked forward and saw Skhini standing behind a group of coworkers, quivering in fear while Mr Pulpsack who was wearing shades, stood in front of an angry looking 6’8 human who had a muscular frame while wearing a brown tank top, black head warmer, a camouflage trouser and black boots.
