Somewhere in the Lower City District, Guan Xiaohui and Zhen Ping had arrived at the designated pickup point. Fearing they might miss it, they had set out early and had already been waiting for a long time.

Fortunately, the location had been specially chosen by the resistance organization; it was both remote and hidden.

The primary reason was that the surrounding Sun Vines and their derivative organisms had been almost completely destroyed. However, the people of the Lower City District still relied on light for their daily lives, and darkness also meant that unpredictable enemies and dangerous creatures could be lurking. As a result, almost no one ever came here.

After waiting for half an hour, the appointed time with Lu Tong Logistics was fast approaching, yet there was still no sign of them. Guan Xiaohui grew a little anxious. "Sister Zhen, you don’t think they can’t find this place, do you?"

Zhen Ping reassured her, "Xiaohui, don’t worry. The people from Lu Tong Logistics are very familiar with the Lower City District. They won’t have trouble finding us. At most, they’ll just be a little delayed."

Guan Xiaohui grunted in acknowledgment.

After a few more minutes, just as the appointment time arrived, the distant sound of two-wheeled motor vehicles could be heard. Then, a blinding light shone from around the corner ahead, and three two-wheeled vehicles approached in a triangular formation.

Zhen Ping told Guan Xiaohui to stay put while she went forward alone to meet them.

Upon seeing her, two of the riders stopped in the distance while one drove over. A thick package could be seen strapped to the rear rack of the vehicle.

The rider stopped in front of Zhen Ping and asked, "Your package?"

Zhen Ping replied, "Yes, our package."

The man dismounted, went to the back of his vehicle, and took out the item, handing it to her along with a delivery receipt.

Zhen Ping took them, signed the receipt, and handed it back before taking the package.

The man took the receipt back, glanced at it, and deftly got back on his vehicle. He gave her a wave, and with a ROAR of the engine, he rejoined his two companions. They quickly departed.

Zhen Ping looked at the item in her hands. To prevent the spread of its Biological Domain, it was securely sealed, so she had no way of inspecting it.

’In fact, even now she wasn’t sure if the item the organization had them escorting was really a fission child.’

She walked back and handed it to Guan Xiaohui. "Xiaohui, take a look. Is this it?"

Guan Xiaohui said, "Let me try." According to the organization, after her Implant surgery, she should be able to sense the fission child’s Domain at close range, even through the sealant.

She reached out and placed her hand on it. At first, she felt nothing, but after a moment, a powerful Domain resonance occurred. In that instant, she felt her ability to perceive Domains amplify. All sorts of Domain information, even the faint signals emitted by living creatures themselves, flooded into her.

She felt the Implant on the back of her neck grow hot. Her blood and heart rate accelerated. She quickly adjusted herself using the methods from her training, which allowed her to filter out a great deal of useless information from the Domains. She took a couple of breaths, looked up, and said, "Yes, this is it."

"Good."

Zhen Ping felt a wave of relief, but it was immediately replaced by a surge of tension. The organization had entrusted them with transporting something so important, and the pressure she felt was immense.

She said, "Group Leader Yu told us to hand this over to a member of the organization with the surname Xiang, sent by the higher-ups. I heard he’s from headquarters. As long as we get it to him, our mission will be complete."

Guan Xiaohui’s eyes lit up slightly. "I’ve never met anyone from headquarters before."

"Right. Now that we have it, let’s not delay. Let’s get going."

Zhen Ping strode over to the two-wheeled vehicle parked to the side and swung a leg over it. Guan Xiaohui sat on the back.

Zhen Ping glanced at the map Group Leader Yu had given her, then started the vehicle. With a ROAR, they sped toward their destination.

About twenty minutes later, the two of them arrived in front of a blocked-off tunnel and slowed to a stop. Zhen Ping dismounted, walked ahead to check the markings above, and said, "This is the place."

She went forward and began moving aside the haphazard pile of rocks and debris. The moment she disturbed them, a swarm of bizarrely large insects scurried out, but she wasn’t surprised by this.

Meanwhile, Guan Xiaohui deftly lit a stick of incense behind her and waved it from side to side. The insects scattered like a receding tide.

Once the debris was cleared, a rusty metal gate was revealed. Zhen Ping gripped it with both hands, twisted hard, and with a few CREAKS, the gate bent out of shape before she ripped it completely off its hinges.

Tossing the gate aside, the two walked forward. After just a few steps, they heard the sound of flowing water. Zhen Ping checked the map and said, "Xiaohui, this is it. We just have to follow the current to get out."

Having confirmed the location, they quickly changed into waterproof gear and entered the water. But they had only gone about ten meters when Guan Xiaohui seemed to notice something. She grabbed Zhen Ping’s arm. "Sister Zhen, wait." She said uneasily, "There are people behind us. About... a kilometer away. They’re moving fast."

Zhen Ping immediately suppressed her aura. She gave Guan Xiaohui a hand signal, and the latter nodded. The two of them quickly swam back to the bank and hid in the tunnel they had come from.

Further back in the current, Che Gaoyi and No. 9 were swimming through. As Che Gaoyi passed the tunnel entrance Zhen Ping and Guan Xiaohui had used, he seemed to sense something and glanced in that direction.

He saw some wet tracks on the ground. It was obvious someone had just passed through.

He stared for a moment, then withdrew his gaze and continued forward.

His primary mission was to escort the fission child. As long as they didn’t attack him, he wouldn’t bother with them. Besides, judging by the tracks, there were only two people, and their strength was nothing special. They posed no threat to him, so there was no need to pay them any mind.

Guan Xiaohui and Zhen Ping waited until he and No. 9 had passed. After a good while, they finally emerged from their hiding place.

Both of them let out a huge sigh of relief. Guan Xiaohui’s face was particularly pale. The oppressive feeling from the two individuals’ Domain information had been incredibly intense; even from a distance, it had left her feeling breathless.

She said worriedly, "Sister Zhen, those two who just passed seemed very powerful. Should we wait a bit longer before we go?"

Zhen Ping thought for a moment and said, "No need. They’re much faster than us. It’s better if we follow behind them. Xiaohui, you should be able to detect what’s happening around us in advance, right?"

Guan Xiaohui nodded.

Using the fission child in her hands, she could maintain her Implant’s normal functions, giving her a detection range of at least one kilometer.

Zhen Ping said, "Then we can react ahead of time. Let’s go. We’ll be as careful as possible."

Guan Xiaohui agreed and followed her back into the water. Keeping an eye on the two people ahead, they moved cautiously behind them.

Meanwhile, in the winding tunnels directly above this underground river, the armored vehicle carrying Chen Chuan was making its way through.

Lan Xinnan said at that moment, "There’s an underground waterway beneath this road. Both paths lead to the outskirts. The underground river is used in emergencies; it’s a faster way out than the path we’re on.

But our route doesn’t require going into the water, so it’s a bit easier. The only thing is, the road ahead was excavated later. It’s wide enough for people, but not vehicles. When we get there, you’ll have to walk for about a kilometer. After that, you’ll be at the edge of Central City."

Chen Chuan nodded.

Another ten minutes or so later, the vehicle stopped in front of a tunnel with a damaged entrance.

Lan Xinnan said, "This is it."

Chen Chuan glanced at it and said, "Captain Lan, you all should head back. What happens next has nothing to do with you."

Lan Xinnan agreed. She knew he was saying this for their own good. Both the Processing Bureau and Lianwei Zhongyu were colossal entities to them. Getting involved would not end well for them.

She leaned out and called to Chen Chuan as he got out of the vehicle, "Brother Chen, be careful."

Chen Chuan nodded to her, adjusted his outer coat, and, holding the Snow Monarch Blade, walked toward the narrow passage.

Outside the tunnel entrance, Che Gaoyi emerged carrying a briefcase, with No. 9 following a few steps behind.

He glanced outside. It looked like they were at the bottom of an earthen slope. The vegetation was dense, and the daylight was bright.

He could confirm they were out of Central City because, at a glance, he couldn’t see any shimmering Rifts or many of those annoying insects.

But before his expression could relax, a voice drifted down from above:

"So you’re the ones making the delivery? That’s not right. You’re not the two young ladies."

Che Gaoyi turned his head to look and saw a man who appeared to be in his thirties standing on a tree trunk in the distance. His hands were in his pockets, and he wore a short-sleeved shirt with the buttons undone, revealing an undershirt with an eye pattern on it.

The man’s hair looked black and stiff, and his expression held a hint of nonchalant arrogance.

The man stroked his chin and muttered to himself, "Hmm, it’s also possible you stole their stuff. Whatever. In any case, you came out of there..." He glanced at the briefcase in Che Gaoyi’s hand. "And you’re carrying something suspicious. I can’t just let you leave."

The moment Che Gaoyi saw this man, he knew he was no ordinary person. He didn’t bother with an explanation and immediately said, "No. 9, go take care of him."

Even though they were out of Central City, it didn’t mean they were completely safe. He couldn’t afford to linger here.

Upon hearing his command, No. 9 charged silently toward the man.

Meanwhile, Che Gaoyi took off at high speed, running forward with the briefcase. But he had only gone about a thousand meters when a figure suddenly flashed before him. The same man from before appeared in his path, tilted his chin up at him, and said playfully:

"Where do you think you’re going?"

Che Gaoyi was startled. He glanced back and saw No. 9 embedded in the earthen slope behind them, as if it had been brutally slammed into it.

He realized he had run into a formidable opponent. He asked cautiously, "Who are you?"

"Me...?" The man stood up straight and patted his chest. "Senior officer of the Resistance Alliance Front, Xiang Tiancheng."
