Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Treating Section Chief Wang to Shrimp

The group that came in were clearly minor government officials. You could smell the overpowering stench of smoke and liquor on them from a mile away.

The man in the lead, surnamed Wang, was a section chief in the city’s logistics department. It wasn’t a high-ranking position, but he carried himself with an impressive amount of arrogance.

As soon as the others sat down, they started to brag.

The men across the table looked over, their eyes lighting up. They hadn’t noticed her before. The woman was gorgeous.

’A shame she already has a kid, and with a dirt-poor hick like that next to her.’

Section Chief Wang’s eyes were hazy with drink. "Shoo, shoo. It’s not good for kids to eat too much of this stuff. If you want some, go ask for another platter."

With that, he dropped his slobber-covered chopsticks back onto the platter with a CLANG.

’What kind of manners are these?’

’And this guy is supposed to be a section chief in the logistics department.’

Seeing her little mom getting angry, Niannian quickly tugged on her sleeve. "Little Mom, I don’t want it anymore. A meatball is fine."

Section Chief Wang chuckled. "That’s more like it. The adults are at this table. Children should know their place. You understand the story of Kong Rong yielding the pears, don’t you? Don’t be so greedy, acting like you’ve never had a decent meal..."

He was still lecturing smugly when—SMACK!—the entire greasy platter of shrimp was smashed right in his face.

Qin Tianxuan grabbed the plate and slammed it into the man’s face. The motion was so smooth and sudden that no one had time to react.

He then picked up a napkin and calmly wiped his hands. "Since Section Chief Wang loves shrimp so much, he should have his fill."

"Ah!"

Section Chief Wang’s men were enraged. They all shot to their feet, ready to surround Qin Tianxuan.

Han Biwei quickly pulled Niannian behind her and bit her lip. "You’re all grown men, and you look like people of some standing, yet you’d fight a child over a single shrimp? Forget my husband—even I, a woman, find you despicable!"

Just then, more footsteps were heard, and a dignified, middle-aged man in a tunic suit entered, followed by an entourage.

Section Chief Wang and his men were stunned.

"Quick, make room! Clear the head of the table!"

They scrambled to move chairs and wipe the table.

Section Chief Wang wiped his face and, ignoring his wretched state, pointed a finger right at Qin Tianxuan. "Get the hell out of the way! Can’t you see our Governor is here?"

He was still pointing his finger when Chen Hai, who was right behind him, flew into a rage and kicked him to the floor.

Leaning down, Governor Chen hissed through gritted teeth, "You dare show such disrespect to my Commander? Do you have any idea who this man is?"

Section Chief Wang’s eyes were frozen wide, and his lips trembled, a piece of shrimp still stuck to them.

Governor Chen whispered something in his ear. Section Chief Wang let out a pathetic yelp, and his entire body went limp.

"Sir, please decide his fate!" Chen Hai said, suppressing his fury, his face etched with anxiety.

Qin Tianxuan finally spoke. "Have Section Chief Wang eat his shrimp."
