Chapter 188: Chapter 188: Asa Mitaka’s Misunderstanding

The sight of the black-haired girl before him, especially the system notification floating in front of his eyes, took Kotone Asaba by surprise.

He had not expected to run into Asa Mitaka so soon.

"I’m sorry."

Asa knew she had been distracted, so she gave the boy in front of her a slight bow in apology.

Then she noticed that his eyes looked unusual.

She had originally planned to apologize, bow, and leave, but his distinctive blood-red eyes caught her attention, and she could not help looking at them a little longer.

"It’s fine. You didn’t actually run into me."

Kotone responded normally.

He did not deliberately try to strike up a conversation with Asa or act overly friendly. Even encountering her here had been completely unexpected.

Trying to get close to her too eagerly would only look suspicious.

"How is it fine? I really was distracted, and I almost walked into you."

Asa suddenly became rather insistent about the matter.

However, she quickly realized this was the first time they had ever met, so there was no need to say so much.

No one cared who she was anyway, much less what she thought.

"That’s all I wanted to say."

With that, Asa started climbing the stairs.

Kotone remained silent and said nothing.

She was not much different from the Asa Mitaka he remembered. She could be extremely serious and stubborn about certain things. That had its good side, such as following rules and obeying the law, but it also had a bad side, since she could sometimes be painfully inflexible.

Combined with various other factors, it made it difficult for her to fit in.

Of course, Kotone did not think fitting in was particularly important. As long as someone was happy with their own life, that was enough.

However, Asa was not the sort of person who could remain isolated and still be happy. She both resented and envied her classmates, leaving her trapped in a complicated contradiction.

Still, Kotone barely knew her at this point. He obviously was not going to approach her out of nowhere and start lecturing her about her life.

"Huh...?"

At that moment, Asa suddenly noticed that the boy from earlier was climbing the stairs behind her.

Why was this boy following her...?

No, no!

Asa immediately rejected the thought. She was probably overthinking it. He was simply heading to his own classroom like any normal student.

He was wearing the uniform of their high school division, so his classroom had to be somewhere in the same building.

However, several minutes later, Asa reached the floor where her classroom was located and continued down the hallway.

Yet the same boy was still behind her.

"Is this guy a stalker?!"

Asa immediately began to panic, and her expression changed ever so slightly.

Although she still could not be completely certain, she restrained herself from directly confronting him.

Even so, she believed there was a strong chance he was either a stalker or had some kind of interest in her.

There were only a handful of classes on this floor. Even though Asa was not close to most of the students, she saw them almost every day and at least vaguely recognized their faces.

The boy behind her, however, was a complete stranger.

He was also fairly handsome, so she definitely would have remembered him more easily if she had ever seen him before. That allowed her to be certain that today was their first meeting.

And now he was following her after meeting her for the very first time. The answer seemed obvious.

A small part of Asa actually felt pleased. After all, an attractive boy had apparently taken an interest in her. Unfortunately, the fact that he was following her was difficult to accept.

As a result, she felt far more troubled and frightened than happy.

"Um..."

They were almost at the classroom door, and Asa could no longer hold herself back. She was about to warn him to stop being so obvious.

However, the boy walked straight past her and entered her classroom, Class 2-4.
