Chapter 189: Chapter 189: This Is So Embarrassing (EC)

"Huh?! Wh-What?!"

Asa Mitaka’s mind immediately descended into chaos, leaving her completely dumbfounded.

This boy was actually her classmate?!

That was impossible!

She might not know every classmate well, but she at least recognized all of them. Yet Asa had absolutely no memory of ever seeing this boy before.

Determined to figure out what was going on, Asa immediately strode into the classroom.

Most of the students had already arrived, and they were also looking at Kotone Asaba with curiosity and confusion.

Makima was already there as well, and she attracted even more attention than Kotone.

"Who are those two? I’ve never seen them before. Did they walk into the wrong classroom?"

"Were you not paying attention yesterday? During the final class, the teacher mentioned that two transfer students would be joining us today."

"So they’re transfer students. No wonder they looked so unfamiliar. They’re both really attractive, though!"

"It’s a shame our homeroom teacher will be here soon. Otherwise, I’d definitely go talk to that girl."

Kotone and Makima had each chosen an empty seat at random. They would wait for the homeroom teacher to arrive and assign them permanent seats.

After hearing her classmates’ conversation, Asa finally understood that the boy from earlier was a transfer student.

So she had completely misread the situation?

Asa’s face immediately turned red with embarrassment.

She could not help feeling relieved that she had not managed to say anything. Otherwise, she would have been so humiliated that she might have wanted to die on the spot.

With an awkward expression, Asa returned to her seat and found herself too embarrassed to even look at the boy.

A little while later, the homeroom teacher arrived.

"Two transfer students have joined our class today. I’m sure most of you have already seen them," the homeroom teacher said. "Would both transfer students please come to the front and introduce yourselves?"

Kotone was already accustomed to this. Standing at the front of the classroom, he gave essentially the same introduction he had used before, without revealing his identity as a Public Safety Devil Hunter.

Makima did the same.

However, perhaps because Reze was not there to steer the conversation in a strange direction, Makima did not say anything shocking like she had the previous time. She gave a perfectly normal introduction.

Once they had finished, the homeroom teacher began assigning seats to Kotone and Makima.

"There are several empty seats. You can choose whichever ones you like," the homeroom teacher said casually.

Kotone selected a seat near the window in the back row. He preferred quiet corners like this, where he would not attract much attention.

Many of the boys in the class hoped Makima would choose a seat close to them.

The boys with empty seats beside them were especially hopeful that Makima would sit next to them.

After all, who would not dream of having a wonderful encounter with the beautiful new transfer student?

Asa sat at her desk with her chin resting on one hand, looking at those boys with undisguised contempt.

How pathetic!

Reality, however, was cruel.

Makima ignored all of them and walked straight to the seat behind Kotone.

It was the last desk in the final row, and the only student seated anywhere near her was Kotone directly in front of her.

The boys immediately felt disappointed and dejected.

For the moment, however, they did not think too deeply about Kotone and Makima’s relationship. They assumed it was merely a coincidence, or that the two transfer students were sticking together because they were both new.
