Chapter 193: Chapter 193: He Must Have Fallen for Me

"Miss Mitaka?"

Seeing Asa Mitaka remain completely still as though she had not heard him, the English teacher called to her again.

"Oh!"

Asa finally snapped back to reality and hurriedly stood up.

As she rose, she secretly glanced in Kotone Asaba’s direction.

Then Asa began reading the passage aloud.

Kotone felt somewhat uncomfortable listening to Asa pronounce every English word with katakana-based sounds.

Since he was fluent in many languages, English was practically another native language to him. Naturally, hearing heavily Japanese-accented English sounded strange to his ears.

Most Japanese people pronounced English words using katakana sounds, which was why their spoken English often carried such a strong Japanese accent.

"Good. Your pronunciation was decent. You may sit down."

After Asa finished reading, the English teacher dismissed her.

The other students showed no particular reaction. They were not close to Asa, and some of them barely even knew her.

Kotone noticed that the Class President was staring at him.

Her gaze contained both surprise and a trace of irritation.

It was clearly because Kotone had spoken up and revealed Asa’s name.

The Class President was surprised that Kotone knew Asa’s name, but she was also annoyed that he had helped Asa escape that embarrassing situation.

The strangest part was that Kotone had only transferred into the school that morning. How could he already know Asa’s name?

She had not seen Kotone interact with Asa at all.

Naturally, Asa had noticed the same issue.

However, rather than becoming suspicious, she concluded that he must have taken an interest in her.

He had only been at the school for one morning, and they had barely spoken to each other, yet he already knew her name. He had obviously investigated her in advance!

He must be attracted to me, right?

Kotone himself had overlooked that problem, but it did not really matter.

After the morning classes ended, the students went off to eat lunch with their respective friends.

It was painfully obvious that Asa was the only one without any friends.

As usual, she planned to go to the rooftop and eat the cheap bread she had bought earlier that morning.

In contrast, although Kotone and Makima were newly arrived transfer students, plenty of classmates invited them to eat lunch together.

Kotone politely declined. He had never liked eating in large groups unless the people involved were family or close friends.

Since Kotone refused, Makima naturally did the same.

Watching this made Asa uncomfortable all over again.

She immediately rose from her seat, left the classroom with the bread tucked against her chest, and headed to the rooftop.

Leaning against the railing, she ate her bread while involuntarily thinking about Kotone.

It’s obvious that he’s attracted to me. I am pretty good-looking, after all.

Holding the bread in one hand, Asa brushed her hair with the other. She was still quite confident in her appearance.

Perhaps she might finally be able to make a friend...?

Asa had always wanted a friend, or even a boyfriend. However, despite having attended the school for so long, she had not made a single friend, much less found a boyfriend.

She did not want to deliberately approach any of the boys either.

Still, I can’t be completely certain what he thinks of me. I should observe him for now. The next time I get an opportunity, I’ll try talking to him...

Although Asa was fairly confident, she could only entertain such thoughts privately.

She was too embarrassed to act rashly, so she decided to slowly test Kotone and figure out how he felt about her.
