Kotone Asaba had done absolutely nothing. He was merely eating lunch, yet notifications about Asa’s rising Affinity kept appearing before him.
He could not help feeling confused. Was Asa somehow winning herself over without any help from him?
He could not think of any other explanation that made sense.
It felt rather strange, but it only benefited Kotone.
If Asa could talk herself into liking him, it would save him a great deal of thought and effort.
After finishing her bread and resting for a while, Asa returned to the classroom.
She began reviewing the new material the teachers had covered that morning and studying the lessons scheduled for the afternoon.
However, the students around her were either eating or chatting. This was not an advanced academic class, after all, so her classmates were not particularly enthusiastic about studying.
The conversations were tolerable, but Asa could barely endure the people eating around her.
Some of them chewed noisily, and the classroom was filled with the strange smell of various foods mixing together.
Most importantly, school rules prohibited eating in the classroom.
As someone who always obeyed the rules, Asa found their behavior extremely irritating.
Still, she could only complain about it in her head. She was not close to any of her classmates. Most of them did not even know who she was.
If someone who felt like a complete outsider suddenly started reprimanding them, they would only see her as even more of a weirdo.
Asa therefore had no choice but to suppress her frustration and continue studying.
At that moment, Kotone and Makima returned to the classroom together after finishing lunch.
Kotone could not be bothered interfering with his classmates’ behavior.
The main reason was that he had long since grown accustomed to it. At his high school in his previous life, most of his classmates, including Kotone himself, had eaten either in the classroom or in their dorm rooms. Back then, however, it was because they had quizzes during the lunch break and did not have enough time.
Everyone had done it, and neither the school nor the teachers had objected, so it had naturally become normal to him.
Although this school had rules against eating in the classroom, no one actually enforced them.
When classes ended that afternoon, Asa immediately packed her bag and prepared to leave.
Just as she stood up, someone suddenly called out to her.
"Wait a moment, Miss Mitaka."
Asa froze and turned around, only to discover that it was the Class President.
"Class President?"
Asa looked at her in confusion.
"It’s still pretty early, and Kotone and Makima aren’t familiar with the school grounds yet. Could you show them around and help them learn where everything is?" the Class President asked with a smile.
"Huh? I... All right."
Asa did not refuse.
Her delayed reaction was only because she had never expected the Class President to ask her for help. Almost no one had ever asked her to do anything before. It was as though she did not even exist.
Asa was happy to finally have an opportunity to help someone, especially since the person she would be helping happened to be Kotone.
"Then I’ll leave Kotone and Makima in your hands."
After saying that, the Class President walked over to Kotone.
"Kotone, Miss Mitaka will show you and Makima around the campus," she said, still wearing a pleasant smile.
"...All right."
Kotone had never said that he needed anyone to show him around. Was the Class President really this considerate?
Remembering her true nature, he could not shake the feeling that things were not so simple.
