Chapter 198: Chapter 198: A Single Remark That Clears Everything Up

At this point, the Class President was still relatively timid and not nearly as twisted because she had not yet encountered the Justice Devil.

However, Kotone Asaba’s words were making her increasingly determined.

She felt that Asaba made perfect sense. Mr. Tanaka had to take responsibility, no matter what methods she needed to use!

"So there’s no reason for you to hate or envy Mitaka. Mr. Tanaka caused all of this. Mitaka is innocent."

Kotone emphasized the point once more.

The Class President nodded. He had completely convinced her.

At that moment, Kotone’s words suddenly opened Asa Mitaka’s eyes.

So the Class President had been jealous of her...

All this time, Asa had believed she was the only one who ever felt jealous of others. She had never imagined anyone would envy someone like her.

She certainly had not expected the Class President, who got along so well with all their classmates, to be jealous of her.

Without Asaba, Asa suspected she would never have realized it for the rest of her life.

"That settles everything, then. You don’t need to worry. I won’t tell anyone about what we discussed today."

Kotone said.

"Thank you."

The Class President was not merely thanking Asaba for choosing not to kick her while she was down. She was also grateful because he had shown her what she needed to do.

Kotone felt somewhat relieved. At least the Class President could still be reasoned with.

He considered this a relatively good solution, one that could prevent a great deal of unnecessary trouble.

The Class President had not done anything yet, nor had she been influenced by the Justice Devil, so she certainly had not done anything deserving death.

Mr. Tanaka had caused this entire problem anyway, so he could bear the consequences himself.

The Class President then took a deep breath and returned to the classroom as though nothing had happened.

Only then did Asa, who was hiding behind the wall, realize what was happening. She hurriedly tried to conceal herself before the Class President noticed her, but it was already too late.

The Class President caught sight of Asa from the corner of her eye. She froze, then immediately became so flustered that she did not know what to do.

"Mitaka... Um... It wasn’t..."

The Class President had no idea how long Asa had been standing there. Had she overheard everything she had just said?

However, Asa looked equally panicked and quickly tried to explain herself.

"No, no, I only just happened to walk by. I didn’t hear anything."

"By the way, what were you talking about with Asaba?"

The smile on Asa’s face looked extremely forced as she knowingly asked the question.

Her behavior was far too obvious. The Class President immediately understood.

"I’m sorry!"

No longer knowing how to handle the situation, the Class President loudly apologized and immediately ran away.

"..."

Watching the Class President flee in a panic, Asa let out a quiet sigh.

She was no longer particularly upset, nor did she resent the Class President over what had happened. Learning that the Class President envied and resented her had instead helped Asa realize something.

She really was quite attractive after all!

Meanwhile, Kotone also realized that Asa had been eavesdropping from behind the wall for some time.

When he stepped out and saw Makima standing beside Asa, he immediately understood that Makima must have taken it upon herself to bring Asa over.

He instantly felt somewhat embarrassed. Had he known Asa was listening, he would not have spoken so casually to the Class President.

After all, some of what he had said had probably damaged his image a little.
