Chapter 197: Chapter 197: Getting Mr. Tanaka Under Control (EC)

Hearing Kotone Asaba say that, Asa Mitaka froze.

A faint light returned to her previously dim eyes. She had not expected Asaba to defend her.

"..."

The Class President was momentarily speechless.

However, she quickly argued back, "How do you know she isn’t just pretending to be a good girl? You only transferred here today!"

"I know all about your private affairs. Compared to that, isn’t it perfectly normal for me to understand Mitaka’s personality?"

Kotone spoke calmly.

That left the Class President with absolutely nothing to say.

He had a point. Even though everything between her and Mr. Tanaka should have been a closely guarded secret, Kotone somehow knew every detail.

Asa suddenly found Asaba a little frightening. It was almost as though he had investigated everything in advance.

"Now then, you still haven’t finished answering my question."

Kotone continued.

"I asked Mitaka to show you around the school because I wanted to give the two of you a chance to spend time together. I hoped you and Mitaka would start dating, and then Mr. Tanaka would finally give up on her."

The Class President told him the truth.

"I see..."

Kotone was somewhat surprised.

The Class President’s true intentions were simpler than he had expected. He had assumed she intended to use a Devil, or a Devil’s power, to frame him and Asa.

It seemed he had overestimated how complicated her plans were.

The Class President probably had not encountered the Justice Devil yet. It was also possible that the Justice Devil had not appeared at the school.

There was even a chance it would never appear at all. From the moment Pochita failed to form a contract with Denji, countless events had been destined to change beyond recognition.

Asa had no objection to the Class President’s plan. She had wanted an opportunity to test Asaba’s feelings herself.

However, she now found Asaba rather terrifying. She could not imagine how he knew so much.

"Why don’t I give you some advice? Don’t you know how to be a little more calculating?"

Kotone said, "Like I told you, you should be targeting Mr. Tanaka, not Mitaka. Think carefully. You already slept with Mr. Tanaka. If that became public, which one of you would suffer the greater consequences?"

"M-Mr. Tanaka..."

The Class President thought about it before answering.

"Exactly. He must be far more afraid of this getting out than you are. Use it as leverage and threaten him. You know what a yandere is, right? Act like one."

Kotone spoke with a rather sinister smile.

If it came out that Mr. Tanaka had slept with a female student, his teaching career would undoubtedly be over.

His reputation would be completely destroyed as well, and the consequences of public disgrace in Japan could be severe.

That was why Kotone found the situation so strange. The Class President had more than enough leverage to keep Mr. Tanaka completely under her control, and Mr. Tanaka seemed rather weak-willed himself. Yet instead, she had chosen to target the innocent Asa Mitaka.

Seeing her hesitant and timid expression, Kotone continued, "What are you so afraid of? If you keep acting weak, Mr. Tanaka will only become more brazen. You’re better off taking the initiative and putting him under your thumb first."

"He crossed an ethical line by doing those things with you. How can you let him escape without paying the price and taking responsibility?"
