Chapter 202: Chapter 202: The Sibling Debate
After that, Asa conscientiously showed Kotone around, introducing him to every part of the school campus one by one.
At first, Asa was still somewhat shy around Kotone, but the moment she began explaining the different locations, her entire demeanor changed. She immediately became serious and focused.
It was only during the walks between locations, after finishing one explanation and heading toward the next place, that Asa would casually chat with Kotone about other things.
"Come to think of it, you and Makima are also colleagues at Tokyo Public Safety?" Asa suddenly asked.
"That’s right."
Kotone nodded.
"I see..."
Asa immediately found herself thinking about it.
So Asaba and Makima really had known each other before coming here...
At that moment, however, Makima suddenly corrected her.
"We’re also family."
"Family?"
Asa turned toward Makima with a surprised expression.
The moment she heard the word family, her first thought was that they must be siblings.
Their names did not sound remotely related, and Makima’s name sounded more like a foreign name, but both Makima and Asaba had very unusual eyes.
They could not possibly be married. Asaba and Makima both looked like minors, so there was no way they could legally be married under Japanese law.
As for being boyfriend and girlfriend, that did not make them officially family.
After eliminating the other possibilities, Asa concluded that Makima must have meant they were siblings.
"So which one of you is older?" Asa asked.
"I’m the older brother," Kotone said.
"I’m the older sister," Makima said.
Kotone and Makima answered almost simultaneously, as though they had planned it in advance.
Unfortunately, their answers were completely different. One claimed to be the older brother, while the other claimed to be the older sister.
"Uh... so which one of you is actually older?"
Asa was thoroughly confused. Why were their answers completely contradictory?
"I’m the older brother," Kotone repeated.
"I’m the older sister," Makima repeated.
The two of them gave exactly the same answers once again.
They seemed strangely determined to establish which of them was the older sibling.
Kotone had no idea what Makima was thinking, but he certainly did not want to be treated as the younger brother.
Makima, meanwhile, felt that the role of an older sister suited her desire to control Kotone much better.
"...All right, that’s enough from both of you."
Asa felt as though they were messing with her, so she decided not to dwell on it any further.
It was enough to know that Asaba and Makima were siblings, regardless of which one was supposedly older.
Her mood immediately improved a little.
After Asa finished showing them around the entire high school division, Kotone felt that he had gained a firsthand understanding of her personality.
She explained every location in meticulous detail, even thoroughly describing a great deal of irrelevant information to both him and Makima.
However, Kotone respected Asa enough not to show any impatience. There was nothing difficult about simply listening, and Asa’s thoroughness was also proof that she took her responsibility seriously.
Unfortunately, because neither Kotone nor Makima showed the slightest dissatisfaction, Asa became even more convinced that there was nothing wrong with the way she had handled the tour.
By then, Asa had already parted ways with Kotone and Makima and was walking home alone.
"I can’t even remember the last time I talked this much with someone else..."
Asa could not help reflecting on it inwardly.
She also found being around Asaba surprisingly comfortable.
