Chapter 220: Chapter 220: Stone Sword

If Asa turned her school uniform into a weapon, it probably would not change back. Wouldn’t that leave her standing there in nothing but her underwear?

More importantly, her mother had bought her that uniform before she died, so Asa treasured it deeply.

She had not brought her school bag either. They were going to hunt a Devil, and carrying a school bag around would only get in the way.

"Yoru, I don’t have anything on me that I can turn into a weapon. Is there another way?" Asa asked for help.

The Devil before them had already noticed their presence. It seemed to be sizing them up, ready to attack at any moment.

The Devil looked vaguely like a loaf of bread, except it was enormous, and its entire body consisted of rotting, foul-smelling flesh. Its face was hideously distorted.

Just having the Bread Devil stare at her made Asa’s scalp crawl.

"Aren’t you wearing clothes? Although something like that probably wouldn’t make a very powerful weapon," Yoru replied calmly.

"That’s not an option."

Asa rejected the idea without hesitation.

At that moment, she noticed a stone on the ground and suddenly had an absurd idea.

She bent down, picked it up, and convinced herself that it belonged to her.

"Touch something that belongs to you, then call out the weapon’s name."

Following Yoru’s instructions, Asa gripped the stone tightly and declared in a low voice, "Stone Sword!"

The small stone in her hand instantly transformed into a dark teal longsword made of stone.

"Looks like you’ve figured out how my ability works. A weapon made from something like this will be weak, but it should be enough for this pathetic Devil," Yoru said.

How many people in the world could possibly be afraid of bread? Probably only those who had suffered some terrible experience while eating it. The Bread Devil also clearly had no piece of the Gun Devil’s flesh inside it, so any casually made weapon should be enough to defeat it.

"Still, even if the weapon is strong enough, your physical abilities and lack of combat experience are problems. Do you want me to take over and deal with this Devil for you?" Yoru asked with her arms crossed.

"No, I’ll try it myself."

Although Asa said that, her arms were already trembling slightly.

No matter how weak the Bread Devil might be, its appearance was still terrifying. An ordinary person could easily freeze in fear just from looking at it.

"Then be careful, and try not to let Chainsaw Man save you," Yoru said.

"Huh? Why?" Asa asked in confusion.

"Because it would be humiliating. I don’t want Chainsaw Man saving me. If anything actually goes wrong, I’ll forcibly take control of your body."

Yoru began sulking.

"Fine, fine..."

Asa could not understand why Yoru would find that humiliating, but she needed to concentrate on fighting the Bread Devil. She had no time to keep arguing with her.

Throwing caution to the wind, Asa gripped the Stone Sword tightly and charged straight at the Bread Devil.

She even closed her eyes as she swung the sword forward.

"Oh, come on..."

Yoru shook her head slightly. Asa’s combat performance was every bit as poor as she had expected.

Still, blindly charging with her eyes closed was better than being too frightened to move.

The more afraid she became, the stronger the Bread Devil would grow.

Besides, hesitating and cowering would only make her more likely to get hurt.

However, when Asa swung the Stone Sword, her lack of swordsmanship training immediately became obvious. She used all her strength but moved completely incorrectly, causing the momentum of her own swing to throw her off balance and send her crashing to the ground.

Not only did the Stone Sword miss, but it also slipped from her hand and flew away.

By sheer coincidence, it went hurtling directly toward the Bread Devil...
