Chaos Devourer System: My Classless Ascension
Chapter 390 - 388:'MORTAL!!!!'Chapter 390: Chapter 388:“MORTAL!!!!”
The only sound that could be heard was the rushing chilly winds all around us.
The Celestial had gone quiet at my declaration. Out of rage? Out of shock? I had no idea.
"Hah! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!" Yet before I could complete my thoughts, the man burst into manic laughter.
"Hilarious! Truly! What more could I expect from a mortal? To spew such blasphemous words and sophistry."
I kept quiet, letting the man let it out.
"Take my divine aspect? Take my wings? Foolish! You have yet to make a dent in my divine shield and yet you harbor the idea of taking my aspect? What gives you such confidence, mortal?"
"Ahh... I see it now. I’m not surprised." I shook my head.
"What is it, mortal? What sophistry do you wish to speak now?"
"Not sophistry..." I had already appeared before the man, with Elira’s glinting form descending...
CLANG!!!!
The same outcome. My attack had been blocked, and then...
BANG!!
His sword connected cleanly.
I didn’t budge. He retreated.
"I understand what’s happening now." I nodded softly. "You really believe me incapable of breaking your shell."
"Heh! You speak as if your actions have proven otherwise."
"Tut. Tut. Tut. O Celestial, I would’ve loved for you to meet my old man, Valen. He would probably have loved this teaching session."
"I grow tired of your words, mortal."
"No. No. Don’t be in a hurry, I assure you, this is worth it."
I slung Elira over my shoulder in a casual stance.
"Tell me, Celestial, do you know what happens when one has such a broken ability like yours?" I asked.
"HEAVENLY CHAINS OF REQUIEM!!"
All I got in reply was an assault from massive golden chains that shot toward my limbs.
SWISH!!!
With a casual swing of Elira’s blade...
KARANG!!!!
The chains shattered into golden bits that disappeared into the void.
"That was rude, Celestial. But I’ll let it slide. Now tell me, do you know what happens when one has such an obviously overpowered ability like yours?"
The man finally calmed down enough to listen, he knew anything he threw at me that wasn’t a reflected attack would be futile, so...
"Humor me, mortal," he answered.
"When I got my abilities," I began, "I had felt invincible. And to some extent, I was. Until I met a Wyvern that almost annihilated me. Imagine that. Me, almost annihilated by a lowly wyvern. But that experience birthed one of my most unique abilities, and when that ability appeared, I became even more reckless."
"What are you implying, mortal?"
"Hold on. I’ll get there. So, as I was saying, the ability I got made it virtually impossible for me to die. And as you can expect, when the fear of death was taken out of the picture, one could be as reckless as they wanted. And I was. Until I met them. Two beings of pure death that called themselves my grandparents. They made me feel as helpless as I ever could, forcing me to take that fight as seriously as death itself. I won, but it was a win that took everything out of me."
"Then, I met the old man. He was even worse. I couldn’t do anything. Even my most prided-upon ability, he had negated so absolutely that had he wanted me dead during our first spar, I would be dead."
The man’s face had turned grim. Seems like he was getting it...
Swooosh!!!!
Or not.
"Haaa..." I sighed as I swung Elira backward..
SHATTER!!!
Tearing to bits the circular diagram that had appeared behind me.
"Again, rude. But as I was saying, I had no idea about laws when I faced the old man, and that was what he had used to render me useless. Of course now, I can whoop his ass properly, but that’s beside the point."
"Then I came across the Faceless Spawn. Something that stirred genuine worry within me, for if I had not my ability to not die, I wouldn’t have been able to tell how I died."
"You bore me with your words, mortal. Get to the point."
"Haa..." I sighed, shaking my head. "Such an impatient man."
"Well, to sum it up, what I’m saying is, when one has such an overpowered ability like yours, it brings about the worst enemy one could wish for... COMPLACENCY."
"Hah! Complacent? Me? Foolish."
"Yes. Complacent. You have yet to use any laws during this bout. You have yet to use any of your arts during this fight. You have yet to do anything significant that wasn’t using my own attacks against me, and that’s because you cannot. You have yet to bother learning anything outside your ability’s scope, because you believe what you have is enough."
"Is it not?"
"No. It is not. For against me, nothing is ever enough, O Celestial."
I appeared before the man like a ghost, Elira swinging down in a casual swing.
"Futile!"
"Is it?"
CRACK!!!
The moment her blade touched his shield, a massive crack ran through its surface as it...
SHATTER!!!
Shattered...
"Im..."
BANG!!!
A fist to the face sent him flying backward before he could complete those words.
"Complacency makes you believe you can just spam what I throw back at me, but if you yourself have no idea about what my attacks are at the core, then how can you truly defend?"
My fist connected with his helmed head and then...
SHATTTER!!!
The helmet shattered, his face taking the brunt of my bare fist as teeth came flying out.
"Imposhible!!" The man roared as he righted himself, arms trembling as he tried to hold his sword steady.
"But I’ve already told you before..."
My fist was already sinking into the man’s gut, folding him like a shrimp. "I’m very possible."
BANG!!!
His form was launched through the void like a kite with its strings cut loose.
"Throw it back at me? You really thought you could throw back my own attacks? Do you understand what the law of inevitability means? If I wanted your shield broken, if I wanted your shell gone, it would be gone."
I grabbed the man by his hair as I appeared in his path.
"You thought me having fun was you actually doing shit? O Celestial, how foolish must you be?"
"Hea.. heaven.."
BANG!!
"Blerghh..."
"Heaven won’t save you. Not now. Not ever. So bite down on something as I deliver a much-needed lesson on complacency." I could see my reflection in the man’s widening golden eyes. The devilish grin on my face.
"Haa... there goes my bad habit again. Do forgive me, O Celestial..."
And then...
BANG!!!
The sounds of explosions rocked the void back and forth as I turned the Celestial into a divine punching bag.
His limbs, all broken.
His wings, twisted beyond repair.
Multiple fists to the face had given the man a much-needed dental removal.
By the time I was done, all that remained was a sprawled-out, barely breathing, unrecognizable being of pain and suffering...
"Do not blame me, Celestial. I am merely making sure you do not let the world fool you. You should be grateful to me, because now, you’re wiser." I raised my foot. "It was an exciting bout, but now..."
SCHPLAT!!!
"It’s over..."
....
....
Silence reigned in the void as the world tried to right itself once more.
Slowly, the world began putting itself back together as I could feel my connection to the abyss’s atmosphere returning, and then...
Clap! Clap! Clap!
The loud sounds of applause reached my ears. I glanced back, and right there, at a not-too-far-off distance from the newly mended region were the figures of Leo and the others, with Shulvan’s applause echoing even from the distance.
WAP!!
His figure appeared before me as he knelt.
"O master of mine, it is this one’s greatest joy to have experienced such majesty and glory."
"I have not disappointed you..." He waved his hands and the bisected body of a still struggling Kolen’kul materialized into being.
"By your ordinance, I made sure he stayed." I looked at Shulvan, then at the struggling Emperor, before turning my attention back to the body of the Celestial before me.
I had yet to devour it. I wasn’t even bothered about celebrating my win, because...
"Master, is something the matter?" Shulvan asked after noticing my silence, as the others also approached in curiosity.
"I am waiting."
"Master, if I may be presumptuous, the battle is over. Your majesty has proven uncontested. What more is there to wait for?"
I was almost replying before I stopped, a smile curling up my lips, and then...
"It’s here." Before the others could ask me anything...
WOOOOOOOOOOOSHHHHHH!!!!!
A blinding golden light engulfed the broken corpse before me, turning it into golden particles that dissipated into the light, and then...
"MORTAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"There you are." I grinned as I looked up. The being I was waiting for had finally appeared.
"I guess it’s time for the true main event."

A/N: True main event? I wonder what he’s talking about... aaaanyway..
