Chapter 398: Chapter 396:The Fall Of The Ancients(01)

A/N: alright everyone, I’m here to inform you that Dante is currently decommissioned. What I mean by that is, I’ll be taking over the narrative from here on out since brother is a bit too angry to speak at the moment, so try to enjoy from the author’s perspective, I know you love Dante, but suck it up.

Anyhoo... Enjoy.

****

A few moments earlier.

The Forbidden Lands.

"...What?"

The moment Dante registered the words coming from Raven’s mouth, his mind went blank.

"They... took... my Mel?"

[Your bloodline <?????> is reacting...]

His words came out short. Broken.

"I’m sorry, Dante. We tried to save her, but they were prepared..."

"They..."

GROOOOOMMMMMM!!!!

The skies roared as dark clouds began to gather.

"...Took."

CRAAAACKKKKKKKK!!!!!

Violent golden lightning churned within the clouds as they flashed in pure menace.

"...My."

SWOOOSH!!! SWOOOSH!!!

Everyone had to distance themselves from Dante as violent winds were instantly triggered.

Massive blades of air carving trenches into the already ruined landscape.

"...Mel?"

BOOM!! BOOM!!! BOOOM!!!

[SON OF CHAOS is reacting...]

Multiple pillar-thick bolts of lightning struck the earth as the ground imploded.

Fissures ran through the earth as the massive garrison in the distance was instantly sunk into a wide chasm.

"DANTE!!!" Raven yelled, trying to get through to him, but...

"Void-Tempest Form..."

His voice was nothing but a whisper in the wind as his body began breaking apart, fusing into the atmosphere itself.

RUUUUUMBLLLEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

The world trembled and shook the moment the fusion was completed.

WENG!!!

Twin golden suns appeared within the churning dark clouds as they peered down with absolute indifference...

"They...

...Took.

My...

...Mel."

His quiet voice was like thunder rumbling through the skies as the suns... moved.

...

...

"What is happening!?" Magnus, along with the other elders of the Draken ancient family, instantly appeared as they looked toward Damien.

"Valen... he’s moved."

The newly arrived group raised their heads, but all they could see... was darkness.

The skies above the floating islands rumbled as the clouds became thicker and thicker..

A sudden darkness falling over the entire place.

CRAAACKKKK!!!

The golden lightning within the clouds expanded, multiplying until it looked like massive lightning serpents were swimming in the dark clouds...

SWOOSH! SWOOOSH!! SWOOOOSH!!!

The winds stopped being wind and instead became violent twisters that reached the very heavens, twisting in on themselves as they pulled the floating islands apart in different directions.

And then....

DRIP!

They thought it was rain, but...

"Hail?" an elderly figure thought out loud as he caught the fist-sized piece of dark ice that had fallen from the skies.

"Marshal... what is happening?" Another group had appeared.

The leader, a robust man with multicolored horns on his head.

"Long Ao." The elderly man named Marshal called out, yet before he could speak another word...

DRIP!

Another one fell, and then...

CRASSSSHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Like a dam being forcefully torn open, a massive rain of fist-sized hail pelted the islands from the skies.

"What is happening!?" the people screamed as they released their auras to shield themselves.

It was madness.

Stormy dark clouds overhead.

Violent, heaven-reaching twisters from all sides.

And now, a hailstorm?

"Just who the hell is this??" another dragon asked, but then...

"You... Took... My... Mel."

They heard it once more. That same cold, detached, and indifferent voice.

Yet before any of them could react...

WENG!!!

Twin golden suns appeared within the dark clouds, and the moment they did...

HUMMMMMM!!!!!

They all felt it. A humongous pressure falling upon their shoulders as the knees of everyone there suddenly buckled...

"Fu.. fuck... Who... who is that?" a Draken elder asked.

.....

Up in the skies,

Dante’s gaze fell upon the entire floating islands,

his sight being capable of taking in the entirety of the floating landmass.

He could sense them. Multiple powerful figures. Each with a different energy signature.

Vampires. Dragons. Demons. Even the false divine energy of the church, along with some other foreign, nature-aligned energy he hadn’t come across before.

Yet all that meant nothing to him.

He had subconsciously used his Void-Tempest Form in his rage, and now, there was only one thought in his head...

"They shall pay..."

RUUUUMBLLEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

The skies roared!

"They shall all pay!!"

BOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!!

A massive bolt of dark-golden lightning tore through the skies as a portal appeared before the descending attack, teleporting it straight to the translucent dome covering the entire islands...

BOOOOMMMMM!!!!

It struck successfully, but....

HUMMMM!!!

The dome merely shook without shattering.

The people within flinched, yet when they saw the futility of the attack, they relaxed somewhat...

Dante’s indifferent gaze didn’t flinch, he merely watched on as...

"It’s futile!"

Step. Step. Step.

An old man with white hair from age, yet a rosy complexion, slowly took to the air as he approached the edge of the dome.

The others behind him slowly did the same as more joined in, before long, there was a long procession of different powerhouses saturating the skies within the dome.

"This dome you see has been enhanced with anti-law runic inscriptions, so you can forget about ever breaking it with any law-related attacks." The old man’s voice was reserved and cautious as he looked dead into the golden suns in the sky.

CRAACK!!

A portal tore itself open as multiple figures began appearing in the sky behind Valen.

Dakota. Tian. Clarissa. Kaila and the other girls. Elizabeth. Raven.

They each stepped through the portal in absolute silence.

Raven, Tian, Dakota, and Clarissa came to stand beside the armored figure of Valen.

The man hadn’t said a word since the moment Dante had appeared.

"Dante Draven! It is nice to finally meet you! I have heard a lot about you!" the old man called out...

CRAAACKLE!!!!

The only response he got was the increasing crackle of the lightning in the clouds. The twisters were already closing in, and the hailstorm had increased in intensity.

Dante ignored the blubbering fool as his attention shifted from the group toward a building in the distance.

There, by the window, he could see the smiling figure of a beautiful red-haired woman as she waved at him.

The essence of Inevitability surged within him as he had only one thought...

"Bring her to me..." Space folded. Reality twitched around him, but still...

"I told you, Dante. It is impossible to break through the barrier." The old man, having realized that a breach through the barrier had been stopped, spoke out once more.

"You... Took... My... Mel."

were the only words that rumbled through the skies as his rage heightened.

"Yes... we did. And the only way to get her back is to come get her yourself," the old man answered.

He was confident. In their own strength, yes, but more so in their preparation.

They had, by some miracle, acquired a law suppression barrier from the outworld young master.

Its function was ridiculously simple.

Negate the use of any laws within its perimeter.

As for the limit of which laws it could negate, it could negate laws on the same tier as those comprehended by the creator of the inscriptions.

So with the knowledge that no one on Terra had comprehended anything beyond the supreme laws themselves, the man was confident.

He knew that the only way to save Melissa would be for Dante himself and the others to step through the dome. And once they did, there would be more surprises awaiting them...

Thinking this, the old man’s eyes flashed a brilliant light as he opened his mouth to speak up once more, but...

CRAAACK!!!

THOOOOOOM!!!!

A larger bolt of dark-golden lightning had already torn the skies asunder as it appeared right before the dome.

"I have already said it is fu—"

BOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!

The entirety of the floating islands shook violently as the bolt passed cleanly through the dome, shattering the second layer of protection that had nothing to with law suppression before striking right in the midst of the gathered crowd as a swathe of them were instantly annihilated.

The attack didn’t slow. No.

CRAAAACKKKKKKKK!!!!!

Landing with a cataclysmic impact on the floating landmass, it tore a massive crack through the entire island as the islands began teetering.

Magnus’ expression changed as his eyes dilated in pure horror.

"That... that..." That wasn’t an attack backed by any laws.

That was a pure and unadulterated attack formed from the destructive element itself.

His heart clenched the moment he realized what this meant...

He looked up, and his face. No. The face of everyone there paled significantly at the sight above them.

Massive lightning dragons had blotted the entire sky above the floating islands.

Their radiance shone so brilliantly they were difficult to look at.

Their absolute beauty was made useless by the sheer, horrifying aura being released from them.

The people within the barrier knew.

Should those dragons fall, they were in deep trouble.

Yet before anybody could plead any case, they heard his voice once more. But this time, it wasn’t calm. It wasn’t detached.

No.

It came with all the rage he had been carrying since the moment he heard that report.

And when the Breath Of The Endless Horizon was angered, then the world had no choice but to bow, because the moment Dante spoke out once more...

"YOU TOOK MY MEL!!!!!!!!"

it was with a roar that shook the very heavens themselves, and then...

CRACK!! THOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!

The lightning dragons descended with violence.

Their speed was so complete that they manifested within the airspace of the barrier before anybody could react.

And then...

"EVERYONE!!! PROTECT YOURSELVES!!!"

BOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!

They struck.

And the moment they struck...

SHATTER!!!!!

The entire floating islands were instantly annihilated.

Gone.

And thus began a battle for extinction.

Because once again, foolish mortals had angered the wrath of nature himself.

And now, he was going to make them understand just what that meant...
