Chapter 112: Chapter 112

Lena’s POV

Of course, when you’re the Alpha of Bloodmoon Pack, people move the second you say the word. Packing bags, getting transit permits between territories, locking everything in place—easy mode for him.

"When this trip is over, we’ll sign the papers."

That one sentence wiped out every bit of worry in my chest. My eyes lit up before I could even stop myself.

"Seriously?"

He clearly saw how badly I wanted out of all this. He sat down and closed his eyes like that was the end of the conversation.

I dropped into the seat beside him. "You mean it? Once we get back, it’s over? All of it?"

Dominic turned away.

"Dominic!" I smacked his arm lightly.

He shifted farther off.

God, he was seriously annoying.

Fine. The agreement was ending. That part was basically settled. Everything else was just a matter of time, so I might as well treat this like a vacation.

The second I forced myself to think that way, the anxiety just... faded. I leaned back and shut my eyes too.

A staff member approached quietly. "Alpha Dominic, Luna, boarding is ready."

I still wasn’t used to strangers calling me Luna.

Dominic got to his feet and took my hand again. We walked out of the lounge together, and I noticed every woman we passed throwing me openly jealous looks.

Having a mate like that—handsome, powerful, thoughtful.

Anyone looking at us would think I was the luckiest woman alive.

No one knew he was practically dragging me through this.

The flight was long. Hours in the air, crossing lands I’d never seen from above before. Even in first class, I couldn’t really fall asleep.

But Dominic sat beside me like this was just another normal day.

We landed on the coast of a territory Lena had never even heard of before. Remote. Warm. So far removed it felt like the edge of the world. Someone was already waiting for them on the tarmac, greeting them with that easy, local kind of hospitality that felt natural and bright.

The air, the sunlight, all of it felt unfamiliar. Lena stayed glued to Dominic Voss’s side like some lost little animal, fingers twisted tight in his sleeve.

Not because she liked him.

Because her ID, her money, and her way home were all in his hands.

If he left her here, she honestly had no clue how she’d get back.

She was still in her work clothes, and inside her bag there was basically nothing useful at all—just a lipstick, her phone, a few tissues, and that was it.

The car wound through narrow streets lined with whitewashed houses and flowering vines. The breeze carried the salty scent of the sea, fresh and soft, the kind that made a person feel lighter without even noticing.

At the end of the road sat a dock. Dominic exchanged a few short words with the local contact, grabbed their luggage, and headed straight for a speedboat.

"We’re not taking the ferry?" Lena asked, glancing at the bigger boat nearby.

"This is faster."

"You’re driving it?"

"Yeah."

She hesitated.

"Scared of water?"

She didn’t answer. She just looked at him.

"I’m right here. What’s there to be scared of?" He lifted a hand and motioned for her to get on. "Don’t you want to lie down in a real bed?"

She did. God, she really, really did.

So she climbed aboard. He waited until she had her life jacket on properly before starting the engine.

At first, he kept the speed low, giving her time to adjust. The boat rocked gently, and the wake drifted out behind them like white ribbons trailing across the water.

Then another speedboat shot past with a roar, and something instantly flared in her chest—competitive, sharp, almost ridiculous.

"Go faster."

He looked back at her. "Seriously?"

"Yeah. Go, go, go!"

The throttle slammed all the way down. The bow shot up so hard Lena had to clutch the rail, knuckles tight. Wild wind tore through her hair, and cold spray hit her face in quick, sharp bursts.

Her heart was pounding like crazy, half fear, half pure adrenaline.

They were chasing that speedboat.

Then they passed it.

A shriek of excitement burst out of her before she turned to Dominic and yelled over the wind, "You are amazing!"

He glanced at her, the corner of his mouth lifting into a small, knowing smile.

Her shirt was completely soaked now. The white fabric clung to every curve of her body, damp and almost see-through. Wolves on the passing boats were openly staring.

Dominic noticed before she did. The second the boat docked, he headed straight into the nearest shop, bought a shawl, and draped it over her shoulders.

Only then did she pull it tighter around herself. The adrenaline had her so hyped she hadn’t even realized how exposed she was.

A car took them to the hotel. The building was gorgeous, classy in a quiet way, but Lena barely spared it a glance. She just needed a shower and dry clothes. Immediately.

Dominic opened the room door. She went straight for the bathroom, peeled off her wet clothes, and sank into the bathtub.

The water was perfect. Heat loosened her muscles bit by bit, and the tension of the past two days melted away almost instantly.

She closed her eyes and let herself drift. For a moment, she forgot where she was.

She forgot everything.

A knock at the door startled her awake. The bathwater had gone cold, and she had no clue how long she’d been in there.

Before she could answer, the door was shoved open.

Dominic stood in the doorway, his face full of alarm.

Instinctively, she covered her chest. "What? What happened?"

"Why didn’t you answer me?" he nearly shouted. "I called your name five times!"

"Why were you calling me?" she shot back. "Why would I answer?"

"Because if someone stays in a bathtub for fifteen minutes without answering, of course your mind goes straight to the worst-case scenario." He let out a heavy breath, clearly forcing himself to cool down. "If you’d answered even once, I wouldn’t have broken the door open."

So that was it. She really hadn’t heard him. She must’ve fallen asleep.

He was right. She was the one in the wrong. But saying that to his face? Yeah, no chance.

"You still shouldn’t have come in," she muttered under her breath.

His brows pulled together for a second, then he turned and walked out.

The door shut behind him, and Lena finally let out a long breath she’d been holding. The water in the tub was barely warm now. She’d probably passed out in there for at least half an hour.

She pushed herself up, dried off, and then froze.

Right. Problem.

She’d rushed in so fast earlier that she hadn’t brought any clothes with her. Everything she had was packed in Dominic’s suitcase, and she had no idea whether he’d even put her things in there properly.

Wrapping the towel tight around herself, she stepped out.

Dominic was crouched in front of an open suitcase.

And in his hand were her bra and panties.

Lena went completely still.

He turned at the movement, saw her standing there, and followed her stare to what he was holding.

Then he rose to his feet and held them out to her.

Her throat went dry. "You..."

She wanted to snap at him, really let him have it, but her voice totally bailed on her.

"Do you want them or not?" he asked evenly, like this wasn’t the most awkward thing in the world.

She snatched them out of his hand and clutched them hard.

"My underwear," he said, pointing at her tightly closed fist, "is in there too."

She lowered her eyes.

A pair of black boxer briefs was tangled up with her things.

Her whole face flared hot in an instant.

He’d put their underwear together.

Like it all belonged to the same person.

We’d been intimate before. We’d already seen each other naked. But standing there with his boxers tangled up with my panties in my hands felt weirdly different—strangely soft, almost domestic, like some tiny snapshot of home.

The way he always had of making her guard drop hit Lena all at once, and heat rushed across her cheeks. It was worse than any flustered moment she’d ever had in a bedroom with him.

Dominic reached over and tugged his underwear free by the waistband. The second he moved, her fingers loosened on instinct. All three pieces dropped straight to the floor.

God, she wanted to vanish.

He bent down, picked up his own underwear, then handed hers back to her. His face stayed cool and unreadable, not even a hint of embarrassment.

“You did that on purpose!!” she snapped.

“Get dressed.” He scooped up his clothes and headed for the bathroom. “I’m taking a shower.”

The door clicked shut behind him.

Lena stayed where she was, clutching her underwear, forcing herself to take slow breaths, completely convinced none of this had happened by accident.
