Chapter 116: Chapter 116

Lena’s POV

She teased him, and he answered with silence.

Once the worst of her cramps finally eased up, they left the hotel at last.

The island was small, but crazy beautiful. She’d been stuck inside for days, and the fresh air hitting her face made her feel like she could breathe again, like a weight had quietly slipped off her chest.

They explored on foot. Dominic kept hold of her hand the whole time, their fingers laced together tight. She didn’t pull away.

Open-air markets lined both sides of the street, packed with bright fabrics, handmade jewelry, and food stalls spilling mouthwatering smells into the warm air. She wandered from stall to stall, taking it all in.

"Do you like it?" Dominic asked, picking up a bracelet she’d been staring at for a while.

"It’s pretty."

He bought it.

At the next stall, she brushed her fingers over a silk scarf. He bought that too.

She looked at a pair of sandals. Bought.

She paused at a hand-painted ceramic mug. Bought.

"Dominic, stop doing that." She held up the four shopping bags in her hands, half helpless, half amused. "I’m just looking."

"You touched them." He said it like that alone was some kind of binding agreement.

"I touch things when I shop. That doesn’t mean I actually want them."

He took the bags from her and carried them in one hand with zero effort. "If you like something, you should have it."

She gave up arguing after that. If she kept pointing at things, he was 100 percent going to buy out the whole market.

By lunchtime, they were seated at an open-air restaurant by the water. The tables were packed close together, and the crowd was a mix of people from different packs. They had all come here for the same thing.

To get away. To feel free. To chase the sun.

A few men at the next table kept glancing her way now and then, like they were checking her out. In a place like this, where people let loose and plenty of she-wolves wore light summer dresses without a second thought, those kinds of looks were pretty normal.

Dominic noticed.

He draped an arm over the back of her chair, his fingers resting lightly against her bare shoulder.

A casual little move, but it came with that very deliberate kind of possessiveness.

They both looked away after that. I caught the whole thing and smiled into my wineglass.

"What?" he asked.

"Nothing."

"You’re smiling."

"I do that sometimes. Kind of a habit."

He glanced at me, then went back to eating like it was no big deal.

After my period was finally over, we headed to the beach. I changed into the bikini he had picked out for me. His taste was seriously good—simple, black, clean lines. It fit me so well it almost felt custom-made.

When I walked out of the bathroom, Dominic Voss looked up from his phone.

His gaze dropped down my body once, and his throat bobbed.

"Ready?" My voice sounded casual enough, but inside? Not even close.

It took him a full three seconds to answer. "Let’s go."

The water at the beach was crystal clear, the sand soft and white, and the sun hung high above, pouring warm light over everything like it had all the time in the world.

I spread out a towel and lay down on it. Dominic sat beside me, still fully dressed, head lowered, scrolling through his phone.

"You’re not getting in?" I propped myself up on one elbow and looked at him.

"In a bit."

"Suit yourself." I got to my feet and walked toward the shoreline.

The water was warm. I slipped under, letting the salty sea wash over my skin, then came back up with a deep breath.

A wave hit me from behind and made me stumble. I laughed under my breath and dove down again.

When I surfaced this time, Dominic was standing at the edge of the water. He had changed into swim trunks, and the sunlight behind him cast a long shadow over the damp sand.

Broad shoulders. A carved chest. Tight abs. And that V-cut swimwear riding low under his waistline.

A few months of recovery had brought him all the way back.

He strode straight into the water without a second thought, stopping only when he reached her.

Seawater dripped from his jaw. His gray eyes caught the sunlight and flashed silver. For one stupid second, Lena forgot how breathing even worked.

"How’s the water?" he asked.

"Perfect." Her voice came out softer than she meant it to.

Then a wave crashed in, bigger than the last few. Her footing slipped. He caught her instantly. One arm wrapped around her waist and pulled her right against him.

She grabbed his shoulders to steady herself, and her legs curled around his waist on pure instinct. His hand pressed lightly at her side, holding her in place.

The sea rocked them back and forth. Her chest was flush against his, his warmth cutting through the cold water like it was nothing.

Neither of them made any move to pull away.

His gaze dropped to her lips. Around them, the waves kept rolling, rising and falling like they knew exactly what was happening.

"...People are looking," she whispered.

"Let them."

Then he kissed her. Salt clung to his mouth. Sunlight spread across his skin. The water moved around them in a slow, teasing pull. She kissed him back and tasted the sea, tasted heat, tasted something dangerous too—something so intense it felt almost like surrender.

When they finally broke apart, her legs were still locked around him, her arms draped over his shoulders.

He carried her out of the water, and she didn’t fight him on it.

Once they reached the beach, he wrapped a towel around her, and they walked back to the hotel in silence.

The room door had barely been shut for three seconds before his mouth was at her neck, and her bikini top was already on the floor.

Tonight was nothing like that first night. He kissed his way lower over her body like he was mapping every inch of her from scratch. His lips traced the curve of her breasts. His tongue circled one nipple slowly, gently, until she sucked in a sharp breath, and then he moved to the other, drawing it into his mouth while his hand slid between her thighs.

Her back arched off the bed. His fingers found her already slick heat, and the second he touched her there, her hips lifted toward his hand on instinct.

"...I want more," she whispered.

So he gave her more. Two fingers slid inside her, curling just right, while his thumb traced slow circles over the spot that made her vision blur.

She caught his wrist, not to stop him, but to keep him there.

This time, she wasn’t shy anymore. She reached down and wrapped her hand around his thick, hard length, stroking him until he nearly lost it. He sucked in a breath, his forehead dropping against her shoulder.

When he tried to slow down, she did the opposite. She moved faster. She guided him between her thighs, feeling the heavy, deep pressure of him pushing in, and when he filled her completely, a soft moan slipped from her as she kissed him.

When he pinned her wrists above her head, she broke free, her nails dragging down his back. And when he breathed her name against her ear, she called his name out loud, feeling the shudder that ran through his whole body.

He lifted one of her legs onto his shoulder and pushed even deeper, and the sound that left her mouth came out before she could stop it. Every nerve in her body felt like it had been set on fire.

Her release crashed over her like a wave. She clung to him tightly. He let out a rough groan, and a few seconds later he came too, his hips trembling slightly, his face buried in the curve of her neck.

Afterward, she lay there completely drained, limp and boneless, every muscle still shaking.

The sheets were a total mess. She rolled onto her stomach and propped herself up on her elbows. Dominic Voss lay beside her, one arm draped over her waist, eyes closed.

She studied his back carefully. The marks she’d left were impossible to miss.

Her gaze drifted lower. The sheet had slipped to his waist, exposing the dimples above his hips and the hard lines of muscle running along both sides of his spine.

Even lying there motionless, his body looked unfairly perfect, like it had been built to make women lose their minds.

She forced herself to look away and buried her burning face in the pillow.

He stirred. "I’m going to shower."

"Go ahead."

The bathroom door shut, and a moment later she heard the water start.

She picked up her phone. A message from Anna, plus a few Instagram notifications. She scrolled absentmindedly through the screen.

The water stopped. He came back out with a towel wrapped around his waist, while she was sitting cross-legged on the bed.

Right then, there was a knock at the door.

Dominic pulled on his shirt and opened the door. A couple from the room next door stood outside, both of them from the western territory, grinning like they were already in party mode.

"Hey, neighbor," the guy said, leaning against the doorframe like he owned the place. "We’re throwing a beach bonfire tonight. Barbecue, drinks, camping out on the sand. You and your girl should come."

His girlfriend popped her head out from behind him. The second she spotted Lena on the bed wrapped up in a sheet, she lit up and gave her an excited little wave.

Dominic turned and looked back at Lena.

Lena pushed herself up, clutching the sheet tight to her chest. A beach bonfire? Hanging out with other people, eating grilled food, drinking by the fire, with the stars spread overhead?

Honestly, that sounded amazing.

"Sure," she said before Dominic could get a word in. "We’re in."
