Chapter 137: Chapter 137
Lena’s POV
She watched the light slowly come back into his eyes. The cold, heavy mood hanging over him earlier had melted away under her touch.
One hand rested on his shoulder while the other slid down the side of his neck, her fingertips coming to a stop at his throat.
She stroked him there softly. The contact made his throat tremble just a little, and he swallowed hard, his stomach muscles tightening right away.
He didn’t rush her. Didn’t push. He just sat there quietly, waiting.
Her hand drifted lower, her palm pressing against his chest. His heartbeat slammed through the fabric of his shirt and into her skin. Strong. Fast. Getting faster by the second.
His back straightened. His breathing turned uneven.
Biting her lip, she moved her hand across his chest and pressed lightly, her fingers brushing over one spot.
He clenched his jaw and sucked in a sharp breath, his gaze locked on her like he couldn’t look anywhere else.
She ran her tongue over her lower lip and kept going. His shirt buttons were in the way, blocking her view. She undid them one by one, her knuckles grazing the bare skin underneath.
Every time her fingers touched him, something in his eyes tightened. He swallowed again, obviously fighting the urge to flip her over and take back control of everything.
His arm cinched hard around her waist, so tight it almost stole her breath.
His shirt fell open. His chest and abs were fully exposed now, all clean lines and hard muscle, even more defined with the way he was pinned back in the chair.
With one finger, she traced slowly down the ridges of his stomach and finally stopped at his navel.
Then she looked up, wearing the kind of smile that could start a war. Only then did he really understand just how cruel she could be.
"How much longer?" His voice came out rough. His patience was shot.
She had been dragging this out on purpose, and he wanted action. Right now. No more waiting.
She pulled her hand back. He frowned at her, eyes fixed on her face.
"This is your office. Not exactly the place for this." She started to climb off his lap.
His hands stopped her at once, pinning her in place, his eyes almost red.
"You’re only thinking of that now?"
"It’s not too late yet." She’d had the situation under control the whole time. She was never planning to really do anything here. She’d only wanted to see if she could pull Dominic out of that cold, gloomy mood.
Men were actually pretty easy.
Dominic let out a long breath. "Too late."
Lena couldn’t move. His arm had her pinned tight.
"Let me go. Someone could come in." She pushed at his shoulder.
He lowered his gaze, looking at himself. His shirt was hanging open, his chest exposed, his belt half undone, thanks to her hand wandering there before she’d even realized it. "You got me like this, and now you want me to let go?"
She pressed her lips together. No way was she admitting any of this had been on purpose.
"You did it on purpose." He saw right through her in one glance. "You said you came to make it up to me. You were just messing with me."
She’d started the fire herself. Now it was spreading fast, and she suddenly wanted out.
"I’m not messing with you. I’m seriously worried someone might walk in. It’s work hours. If anyone sees us like this, it won’t end well for either of us." She laid out her reasons in a steady voice.
"Worried about that?" He lifted a brow.
She nodded hard.
A faint, cold smirk touched his lips. The second she saw it, she knew she was done for.
He reached into the desk drawer, took out a remote, and pressed a button.
The office door locked with a sharp click, loud enough to echo through the room. He tossed the remote onto the desk, then wrapped both arms around her waist again. "Door’s locked. Problem solved."
She was trapped, and yeah, this was completely on her.
His hand slipped under her shirt, his palm gliding up her back. She could feel every line of his fingertips against her bare skin.
He bit down on her shoulder, gentle enough not to break skin, but just enough to make her suck in a breath. "Do you have any idea how much torture you put me through just now?"
Her neck arched back. His touch was breaking down her defenses bit by bit, and unlike him, she didn’t have that kind of self-control.
My body had been wanting him for a while now. My period was over, and everything felt way too sensitive, way too hungry. He was exactly what I needed, and he knew it.
So I stopped pretending. I wrapped both arms around his neck and leaned in. "No one’s coming in, right? You sure?"
His fingers found the clasp at my back, and with one easy flick, it came undone. The tightness across my chest vanished in an instant.
"No."
That was enough for me.
The office was huge and dead quiet, sunlight pouring in through the floor-to-ceiling windows and spreading across the room. No one outside had any clue what was happening behind that closed door. His hands moved over my body, and my nails dug hard into his shoulders. The chair creaked under us again and again, and I had to bite back every sound because I had no idea how thick the walls were. I bit my lip until it stung.
He showed no mercy, not even a little. Careful when patience was needed, ruthless when it wasn’t.
An hour later.
She was limp against his shoulder, her face buried in the curve of his neck. The room smelled of sweat and sex, and her face was burning hot.
If anyone walked in right now, she would literally rather vanish on the spot.
Only after it was over did Lena realize just how insane what they had just done really was.
Dominic let out a heavy breath, his chest rising and falling beneath her. He carried her toward the hallway in the back. Reaching past her, he pressed against what looked like a smooth section of wall. A hidden door slowly swung open.
Behind it was a full room. Bed. Bathroom. Shower.
She stared at the room, then at him. "Why the hell didn’t we do it in here!?"
"Because outside was more fun."
She had nothing to say to that. He carried her into the bathroom and turned on the shower. Warm water came pouring down over both of them.
One arm held her up while the other worked the soap over her skin, gently passing over every red mark he had left behind. Her shoulders, collarbone, hips, thighs. Under the water, the marks somehow looked even clearer.
He pressed a kiss to the bite mark on her shoulder, then looked at her. Her eyes were still hazy. "Want to go again?"
She glared at him. "No."
"Alright."
He helped her finish her bath, carried her to the bed, and dried her off with a towel. The second he set her down, Lena yanked the blanket over herself like her life depended on it.
"I’ll get your clothes." A towel was still wrapped around Dominic’s waist as he walked out. When he came back, he was fully dressed again, every button fastened all the way up, neat to an almost ridiculous degree.
Cold. Calm. Flawless. No one would ever guess what he’d just been doing a minute ago. The man was such a fraud. That restrained, dignified look of his? Total cover. Once the door shut, he turned into a completely different person.
She needed rest. Her legs were still too weak to do much of anything.
"Stay here. I’ve still got things to deal with outside." He was already heading for the door.
"Wait."
He turned back.
It was honestly embarrassing to say out loud, but she had to say it anyway. "Air out the office."
He smiled. "Already done. The ventilation system’s been running the whole time."
Then the door closed.
Lena let out a long breath, like all the air inside her chest had been emptied at once.
She was completely gone for this man. When Dominic wanted her, she couldn’t say no. Worse than that, she wanted more. She was the one asking for more.
She squeezed her eyes shut, but the smile at the corner of her lips just would not go away.
Dominic’s POV
He leaned back in his chair, fingers resting lightly on the desk, but his mind was still in the other room.
The door opened.
Samuel Clarke walked in and immediately wrinkled his nose.
"A workaholic locks himself in during broad daylight, ignores calls, and won’t open the door?" He sniffed again, more obviously this time. "So what exactly were you doing in here?"
Dominic looked at him without the slightest expression. "What do you need?"
"I need to know where Lena Foster is. Daniel said she came to see you."
"She’s resting."
"Resting where?" Samuel glanced at the wall behind him, then narrowed his eyes.
"Either talk, or leave." Dominic was in no mood for conversation.
"Still charming as ever." He took a seat. "Someone from Mercer reached out to me, asking if you’d be willing to rethink helping Stonewall Pack. Same old story. He wants your investment."
Dominic leaned back in his chair, fingers laced in front of him. "Stonewall Pack is nothing but a fancy shell. Looks good on the outside, but inside? Totally hollow. Putting money into it is basically tossing cash into a bottomless pit."
"I dug pretty deep into it," Samuel said. "The new product his team is developing has insane potential. It could straight-up replace every similar product on the market. The only real issue is funding. Stonewall Pack has been getting squeezed by the other three packs, and the whole project’s been stuck."
Samuel crossed one leg over the other. "If you come in now, once the product launches, you’ll hold forty-five percent of the stake. My team already ran the risk assessment. The numbers are solid. You won’t lose money on this."
Dominic tapped his fingers lightly against the desk, not giving an answer right away.
"Think it over," Samuel said. He knew when to stop pushing. In the end, the call was Dominic’s.
He stayed a little longer, took a phone call, then got up and left.
