Chapter 141: YOU ARE VERY QUIET

"Look, I lost two of my nail art," Chloe said, showing Leia her fingers as the three of them sat around a small table inside the guest room and had their dinner together.

"It’s just nails. You should be grateful that you are still alive." Leia caressed Chloe’s head lightly. "You don’t know how worried I was when I heard what happened. I am glad you are alright."

Seara didn’t say anything. She was surprised that Leia and Chloe were close; Chloe even called Leia ’Mom.’ And from the sound of it, Leia’s interest in nail art came from Chloe’s influence.

For some reason, Seara felt like an outsider even though they were having dinner together. She remembered how it felt to be excluded during mealtime.

She would be seated at the end of the table, while Silas and the others would have a conversation throughout dinner.

Thus, the interaction between Leia and Chloe brought back the memory. She didn’t want to be bitter about it, since Leia was not really her mother, just because Leia asked Seara to call her ’Mom.’

"Don’t play with your food; come eat more." Leia scooped a bowl of soup and then put it in front of her. "I am glad nothing happened to you." She then took Seara’s plate and cut the meat into smaller pieces to make it easier for Seara to eat them.

"I want my meat to be cut too." Chloe was not happy when Leia paid her attention to Seara.

"Your hands are fine," Leia chided Chloe lightly. "Seara’s hands are injured."

Chloe was injured as well, but her wounds had healed completely by now. For Seara, it was different because she didn’t have her healing ability, and it would take a few weeks for her deep cut to be fully healed.

Chloe pursed her lips and continued eating, while Leia expressed how worried she was for both of them and complained about the security around the residence. She also tried to make Seara and Chloe eat more.

Seara watched how Leia included her in every topic of her conversation with Chloe. She tried to make them not think too much about the devil and the shocking events that occurred today.

Things seemed to escalate so quickly. The wolves’ appearance was still the talk of the town, and the news was still discussing it, seeing it from different angles. However, there was still no valid explanation for how they could appear and disappear out of the blue.

And now it also happened; the devil was out there—escaped.

"We should go to the saloon together!" Leia clapped her hands excitedly with her own idea. "We should hang out together, the three of us! Enjoying a spa day, going to the saloon, and then going shopping! It will be fun!"

"It would be fun if it were only the two of us." Chloe threw Seara a look.

"Chloe." Leia slapped her hand lightly on the comment and reprimanded her for her attitude.

"Don’t you miss me? I have been banned for a few months from coming to the residence, and I can’t see you as often." Chloe crossed her arms, acting like a petulant child.

One of the reasons why she kept coming back to the residence was Leia. In the past, she had more girl days with Leia than she had dates with Zade. Hell, during their three-year engagement, they only went on a date four times.

Therefore, it upset her so much when she couldn’t come.

At that very moment, someone opened the door, and Zade entered the room. He saw that they were eating together.

"Finish your food, and after that find me in my room," Zade said to Seara. He didn’t greet the other two women.

"I have finished," Seara said. She stood up and thanked Leia for the food before walking toward Zade and leaving the room.

They both walked down the corridor in silence, and Seara was not in the mood to talk. She didn’t even ask why Zade had called for her. She simply followed him back to his bedroom.

Once they were inside, Seara stepped in first, while Zade closed the door behind them. This room was as big as she remembered it but felt hollow, since the owner rarely stayed here.

"Upset?" Zade hugged her from behind, putting his arms over her stomach and chest, as he buried his face in the crook of her neck.

"No..." Seara replied as she leaned against Zade’s chest. She could feel his strong heartbeat. It was comforting, and she liked it when he wrapped his arms like this. Cocooned her and made her feel warm and protected.

They were standing in the middle of the room, and through the glass door that showed the balcony, they could see the bright moon outside.

"You are very quiet," Zade said. He still had not yet lifted his head from her shoulders, as if he didn’t want to let her go. Today’s event was horrendous for him.

Losing the devil was one thing, but when he realized how close he was to losing his mate, it was an entirely different thing.

He knew the devil would target his mate, but he didn’t know how to protect her well.

It crossed Zade’s mind to tie her up and lock her inside the room with him; he wanted her to never be out of his sight.

But even he knew it was his impulsive thoughts that talked to him.

Therefore, he needed reassurance that she was here with him, unharmed.

"Did Chloe bother you?" Zade would ship her back to her pack once she woke up, so Seara didn’t need to worry about her if her presence bothered her so much.

Yet, her main focus was elsewhere. "Is it very bad for the devil to escape?"

"Yes. It is very bad."

"Zade, why do you think I can see Lilith even though I don’t have my wolf spirit anymore?" Seara turned around and then faced him.
