Because of the scream, the wolf woke up and was immediately on guard, baring his teeth against the three people at the door.
"Hmm...?" Seara woke up as well when she felt Reaper moving. She was hugging the wolf in her sleep so she could feel his movement. "Good morning." Seara rubbed her sleepy eyes and then hugged the wolf again.
Both Maisie and Caylin felt as if their hearts skipped a beat.
"Is that okay?" Caylin asked Zephyr.
"Well, she looks comfortable." Zephyr furrowed his brows. "Why don’t you both make breakfast? Don’t forget to make one for me too."
Maisie and Caylin wanted to say something, but Zephyr had waved them off, so they had no other choice but to leave and carry out the order.
"Is he good now?" Zephyr asked.
"Yes, he is good." Seara hugged Reaper’s neck.
Zephyr was about to approach them, but Reaper growled at him. "Hmm. I don’t think so." He reconsidered his decision to get closer. "Jane will come in two hours from now; I think you need to get ready. Can you ask him to go somewhere? Jane will be scared of him. You don’t want to scare Jane, right?"
Seara liked Jane, and she didn’t want her to be scared. "No." She then kissed Reaper on the muzzle and told him to go. She petted his head and played with his ears before the wolf jumped down from the bed and then walked away.
What baffled Zephyr even more was the fact that the wolf threw him a look. "What? Did he just give me a dirty look?"
He couldn’t understand what kind of magic Seara had to turn the fiercest wild wolf in this residence into a lapdog.

Zade watched the three women swallow the poison. The exact same poison that they made Seara drink, in the exact same way they forced it down his mate’s throat.
All of them thought Zade a monster, a mad Lycan, and Zade would generously remind them of that.
"King Zade... Please! Rexton! Help me!" Eudora screamed at the top of her lungs when the warriors from her own pack held her down and forcefully opened her mouth. "King Zade! I am the luna of this pack! You can’t do this to me! No!"
Eudora was not the only one who begged for mercy; Enid was thrashing her body, trying to get away from the three warriors who held her down.
"How dare you!? How dare you touch me!? Don’t you know who I am?!" Enid screamed and cried, but the warriors turned a deaf ear. They looked conflicted, but they didn’t receive any order to stop.
They glanced at the alpha, who was lying unconscious on the floor, and then at the beta and the gamma. The two of them stayed still, though Brigid and Eudora were their sisters.
It was not like they didn’t want to save their sisters, but the thing was, the risk was too high. The Lycan king could vent his rage upon the whole pack, and they would be wiped out like the Ironclad Pack.
The only thing they could do was to wait.
Silas had mind-linked his father, and he had informed King Asher about the situation here.
"Please, King Zade! Ah!" Brigid was crying when the taste of wolfsbane burned her taste buds.

"Seara, what did you do?" Zephyr was stunned speechless when he watched Reaper appear with his mate and their three pups.
"Ah! Cute!" Seara beamed. She had never been so happy before, as she rushed toward the family of the wild wolf.
Maisie and Caylin cooed at the pups as well, but they didn’t dare to get closer because Reaper was standing on guard around his little family.
"Oh, shit." Zephyr was dumbfounded. "Did you hide jerky or something? Why is he so docile with you?" Zephyr was standing a little bit far from them, watching everything unfold. "This is going to take a dark turn." He wondered what Zade was going to say when he found out about this.
"I am not afraid of the dark," Seara replied, her eyes lighting up when the pup licked her fingers. In fact, it was the light that made her anxious.
"Let her be," Jane said. She was standing next to Zephyr, crossing her arms and keeping her distance from Seara and the wild wolves.
"She looks normal to me; I don’t think it is necessary for you to be here..." Zephyr glanced at Jane.
Seara had gained weight. She was no longer the woman Zephyr saw in the hospital bed, a woman with protruding bones and hollow cheeks.
Truth be told, Zephyr thought even a beggar was way better than her at that time. She looked crazy and pitiful.
But it was six weeks ago, because right now, Seara had shown incredible progress.
"She looks fine now, but it doesn’t mean she is." Jane tied up her red hair and fixed her glasses on her pointed nose.
She looked the same age as Zephyr, but as a half-Lycan, he was hundreds of years older than her due to his immortality.
"Not really," Jane said softly. "Healing is not a linear process. A familiar smell, a familiar feeling, a familiar sound, or a random memory can trigger the pain, and she can go spiraling. She has gone through something so dark, literally and figuratively. Do you think a few good days and some medication can fix that?"
"It couldn’t?" Zephyr turned his head to look at Jane.
"If it could, I would have been out of my job."
"How long will it take for her to be fine?"
"There is no saying in that matter; no one can tell," Jane replied. She then patted Zephyr’s shoulder. "I am going to make some food to eat; let her play with the wolves."
"Do you know why the wolves like her?" Zephyr followed Jane to the kitchen.
Seara watched the two of them go to the kitchen, and then she saw someone outside the window.
