Claimed by the Mad Lycan King

Chapter 53: THE NURSE DOESN’T EXIST

"Yes, she said she was talking to a nurse named Sheena when I approached her," Zephyr said. He was driving the car while Seara was sleeping, using Zade’s thigh as her pillow. "Maybe I am mistaken, but I swear there was no one there."

Zade knew about Sheena because Seara had mentioned her once. The nurse had drawn a cat for her before.

"Zade... do you think she was hallucinating?" Zephyr asked carefully; he glanced at Zade’s expression from the rearview mirror. "And also about Sybill," he added worriedly.

It was understandable for Zephyr to think that way because Zade also had his own suspicion from the beginning.

However, instead of answering his royal gamma, Zade made a phone call, and on the second ring, Rio answered.

"Yes?"

"Is there a nurse named Sheena there?" Zade asked in a cold tone, which made Rio understand the importance of the situation, even though he didn’t see the alpha directly.

"There are hundreds of nurses here. Give me ten minutes; I will call you back."

Zade then cut off the phone call and waited for the information from Rio, as he played with Seara’s long hair. She was no longer insisting on cutting her hair off, but the impulse might come back; that was what Jane said.

Less than ten minutes later, Rio called Zade back and told him that there was no nurse named Sheena.

"I have checked, but there is no nurse with that name. That’s not a common name, Zade," Rio explained. "The closest one is Sheila; she is an old nurse who is going to retire next year. Is she the one you mean?"

Zade was deep in his own thought; he caressed Seara’s face lightly. "Thank you, Rio. I will call you back later." And he cut off the phone call.

From the rearview mirror, Zade caught Zephyr’s sight as he stole a glance at him cautiously. "So?" Zephyr asked. "Is there a nurse with that name?"

"No." The answer was short; Zade fixed his eyes on his mate again, and no one spoke until they reached the residence.

Even Zephyr remained silent, as whatever he was about to point out, Zade had likely already considered it. It was related to his mate after all; he must have gone through all the possibilities that he could think of.

When they arrived at the bungalow, Zade carried Seara inside. It was already evening, and the sky had turned the shade of red, just like the color of her hair.

"Come to the main residence some time and have dinner. They have been desperate to see your mate."

"She is not ready for that."

Zephyr couldn’t say anything, since Zade would always prioritize Seara first. He watched as the Lycan king carefully carried his mate back to their house, and after that he made a phone call to Ace to tell him everything that happened today.

"Tomorrow can be a problem. Should we inform King Altair and Asher about this? Just in case it will take a bad turn."

Ace contemplated the suggestion for a while, but he disagreed with him. "No. I don’t think we can do that; if anything, Zade will be more pissed off if he notices the two kings gather together. Moreover, Seara will be there; he will not go berserk with the thought he might hurt her."

Zephyr grimaced. "It’s too risky." He kneaded his forehead. "I am not going to bet with my luck, to be honest."

"No one wants to bet with your luck, Zephyr." Ace then gave him an assignment before he hung up, which annoyed the gamma.

"Can he stop giving me tasks? I have a lot already." Zephyr clicked his tongue and entered the house.

Tomorrow they would go to the Blackthorne Pack again, and this could be an unpleasant visit for the pack. But more importantly, Zephyr was worried about what they were going to discover there.

"What are you doing here?" Zade looked at Zephyr, who was ready at the dining table; there was an extra plate for him as well.

"Having dinner with the two of you, of course."

Zade eyed the plate. "Where did you get an extra plate?"

Because Zephyr would always come to have a meal here, Zade had specifically instructed the omegas to get rid of the extra plates; it was the most polite way to tell Zephyr to scram.

However, the idea was thrown over his head; he didn’t get it at all.

"I brought an extra plate because you don’t have many here." Zephyr then opened one of the cabinets. "Here, I have restocked your plates. Ace will come for dinner too." He got some plates out of the cabinet and arranged them on the table. "He is still on the way, but I think he will be here in time."

The one that was supposed to be an empty cabinet was now full again.

"There is a reason why I throw away the extra plates."

"Why?"

"Because extra plates are wasteful," Zade then added. "And an extra person is a bother."

And finally, it clicked in Zephyr’s mind what Zade meant with that.

"This will be your last meal here, or it can be your last meal in this life," Zade said coldly. His piercing blue eyes threw a dagger look at his royal gamma.

"Zade, you are so mean..." Zephyr clutched his chest dramatically. "I have been with you for so many years, but you throw me away just like those extra plates?"

Thankfully, before Zade could throw Zephyr out of the house for his dramatic antics, Seara had joined them. She brought a box of chocolate that Chloe had left for her to give to Zade. He liked sweet things; that was what Chloe said.

"Hmm. Seara... I think you are mistaken. Chloe tricked you; Zade doesn’t like chocolate," Zephyr said when he saw that Seara was about to feed Zade.

"But... Chloe said, Zade likes it..." Seara gradually narrowed her eyes as the understanding dawned on her and she realized Chloe had fooled her.
