The last warrior was no longer able to sustain his wolf form due to his severed injuries; thus, his body took over and shifted back into his human form. It happened to all the shifters.
"Please, I am... I am sorry... I was told to do it..." he gagged in his own blood, but the Lycan showed no mercy, as his claws pierced through his back and he yanked out the warrior’s spine.
Even Ace and Zephyr were having a hard time discerning the sight before their eyes, let alone Silas and Rexton; the two of them moved even further away.
They didn’t think you could remove someone’s backbone in one swift, gruesome move.
Meanwhile, Jane had turned her body around so she wouldn’t see it. She was trembling. She knew how cruel the king of Lycan could be, but all this time he always looked so calm, to the point she forgot people called him the mad Lycan king.
"Go back to the car with Seara," Ace said to Jane.
She didn’t need to be told twice, as she rushed toward the car and stayed there with the unconscious Seara.
She knew those people deserved what they had done to Seara; she wouldn’t blame the king’s rage, but she would be more grateful if she didn’t need to see that.
"Heaven, what will happen then?" Jane put his focus on Seara instead, trying not to see the aftermath out there.
On the other hand, despite his fear, Silas tried to figure out what was going on. It must be something related to Seara, or else the king wouldn’t be here.
"May I know what happened? What offense have they committed?" Silas asked Zephyr.
Even though Silas was a beta now, Zephyr held a higher rank as the royal gamma, and also, he was a half-blood; thus, Silas was expected to be more respectful.
Zephyr only glanced at him derisively. It was not like Silas was completely innocent. From what Zephyr gathered from Brigid, he used to stand up for Seara when they were little, but when they grew up, he turned a blind eye to whatever Brigid and her friends did to Seara.
By not doing anything, Silas had contributed to Seara’s suffering too, even though it was not as fatal as those people who had actively harmed her.
"Trust me, this death is an easy way out for them," Zephyr said. He was not going to share any details about what happened to Seara while she was in the cell.
If he tried to be ignorant when they wronged her in the past, there was no need for his care right now.
Silas wanted to ask more, but Ace had stepped ahead; he gestured for Zephyr to focus, because when the last warrior had turned into a clump of flesh and bone, the Lycan was still trying to find a way to satisfy his bloodlust.
"Zade," Ace called out for him. He took another step closer, but he was on high alert. He was ready to shift into his wolf form if Zade was trying to attack him. "Zade, shift back."
Zade had killed three warriors consecutively, which would affect his beast spirit and fuel his feral instinct.
It would be a great problem if Zade gave in to his rage and let his beast run rampant.
Three warriors’ deaths wouldn’t do so much damage, but the thing was, Zade was not in his right mind after the revelation of what happened to his mate. The death of the three warriors didn’t satisfy him.
If he could, he wanted to bring them back to life and kill them over and over. Unfortunately, such a thing was not possible.
The Lycan’s red eyes found Silas and Rexton; he looked ferocious and prowled closer to them.
"Zade!" Ace tried to get him back. "Seara is here. You are going to hurt her accidentally. That’s enough."
Ace tried to reach Zade through mindlink, but he put up a huge wall that didn’t let him in no matter how the royal beta tried to.
It felt like hitting your head against a concrete wall when Ace tried to push further.
However, the mention of his mate’s name was enough to snap Zade back. Though it was not immediate, gradually Zade shifted back.
His eyes were still the color of deep red. It was the color of Lycan’s eyes, possessed by their beast, which indicated that their feral side still dominated their consciousness.
But for Zade to shift back into human form was a good sign.
"We need to go back, Zade. Seara needs intensive care." Ace kept bringing Seara when he persuaded the Lycan king, because he knew this was the only way Zade would listen.
And he did.
Without saying a word, Zade walked toward the car and saw that Jane was there. "Scram." The word came out as a dangerous hiss, sounding more like a threat. If Jane didn’t immediately go out, she might be the next person that Zade killed today.
Jane quickly scrambled away from there; she was too terrified to delay.
At the same time outside, Ace told Rexton that they wouldn’t send compensation for the death of the three warriors, since they deserved it.
"May I know what they had done?" Rexton was curious about the same thing as Silas.
"This is related to Zade’s mate, so it is confidential." Ace tilted his head; his brown eyes were slightly darker. "I can tell you, but that will be the last thing that you know."
Rexton shut up immediately, while Silas was trying to figure out what kind of sin the three warriors had committed against Seara. Knowing Brigid... it could be a lot of things.
But what exactly?
Ace then turned around and left; Zephyr followed behind him. The two cars drove away silently out of the pack territory, and there was nothing Rexton could do to stop them.
His instinct told him this wouldn’t be their last visit...
