They had no other choice but to give the task to Jeremy, since Ace and Zephyr had to be here with Zade, just in case he was losing control over his beast.
But it seemed Zade was stable enough with Seara in his arms. She was the last shred of his consciousness. The thought of hurting her when he went rampant was enough to stop him from losing himself in his beast’s rage.
Currently, Zade was inside the car with Seara, who had fallen unconscious. They had no other choice but to put her to sleep.
"What now?" Zephyr glanced in the direction of the car. "Should we call for King Asher to come? Just in case?"
Ace gave some thought to it, but he then shook his head. "He is calm enough. Let’s see what will happen."
"I don’t think I want to see what will happen." Zephyr grimaced.
The afternoon sun was scorching, but with the trees surrounding them, which gave them cover, it was bearable. And from a distance, they saw a car that approached them. The light of the sun reflected on its tinted glass.
"This is going to get ugly," Zephyr muttered under his breath.
The car stopped right before them; Rexton and Silas then came out. Zade summoned them after they got the information that they needed from Jeremy.
That young man was effective with whatever method he used to retrieve information; that was why he was the first person that Zephyr called to do the job.
After Rexton and Silas got out of the car, three other warriors got out from the backseat as well. They looked confused, but fear was etched on their eyes.
And upon seeing them, Ace understood why Seara had felt uneasy whenever he was around, and the understanding also dawned on Zephyr as the royal gamma glanced at him.
"I think you need to change your hair color, Ace," Zephyr commented.
"I am not going to do that." Ace narrowed his eyes at the two warriors with dark copper hair, who walked behind their alpha.
"Bad guy," Zephyr said, parroting what Seara called him, and he got a smack on the back of his head.
Meanwhile, Zade finally got out of the car when he saw them coming. He left Seara lying down in the backseat and walked slowly toward the alpha and the other four people.
"Is there anything that I can help you with, King Zade?" Rexton asked. He wondered why he had to bring his three warriors with him. Additionally, he wondered how the king knew their names specifically.
On the other hand, Silas glanced at the car, where Zade came from. He could smell Seara’s scent, but he could not see her. She must be inside, but the glass was too tinted for him to see anything. Somehow, this irritated him.
He wanted to see her. It had been so long since the last time he saw her.
"King Zade?" Rexton was confused when Zade walked past him and went straight to the three warriors behind him.
And then everything went very quickly.
One moment, one of the warriors stood there with confusion and fear in his eyes, but the next moment, his head was already rolling on the dirty ground of the forest as his headless body fell after that.
It felt like a wrong dream. They couldn’t react in time, and even after they witnessed what had happened, they still couldn’t believe what they were seeing.
Only when Zade’s attention shifted to the second warrior did the two of them immediately kneel on the ground. They knew that the king of the Lycans had learned what they had done; otherwise, there was no way he would ask for them specifically.
They should have run away when they had the chance, because now, the moment the Lycan knew, their life had been forfeited.
"Please, King Zade... please... we were paid; we were told to do it. Please, we..."
The second man couldn’t even finish his words when Zade put his fingers into his mouth, and they turned into claws. A moment later, he ripped his mouth open, wrecked it, and split his face.
The third warrior fell onto his butt, trembling violently as he tried to get away from the wrath of the Lycan king. He kept shaking his head, begging for mercy that he wouldn’t get.
"Please... please..."
But then, he remembered the Lycan king wouldn’t show any mercy. His friend had tried, and he died a miserable death.
Therefore, with his body still trembling, he tried to run away. He shifted into his beast form and tried to escape.
However, there was nothing he could do to get away from a Lycan when they were in their hunter instincts.
Zade shifted into his beast form, and to put it lightly, he mauled the last person. The howling sound of agony filled the air, and it was a good thing that Seara was not awake, because Zade didn’t want her to see him like this or even witness the gruesome event.
"What—what’s going on? What happened?" Rexton was flabbergasted; he took a few steps back out of instinct, as though the Lycan king would attack him next. "Why? What’s going on?"
Ace and Zephyr were tensed up. They were ready to shift into their wolf forms as well, just in case Zade lost control.
"If things went south, contact King Asher," Ace said to Jane. "Also, Altair," he added in a low voice, so it was only Jane who could hear him.
Even with Zephyr and the help of the Blackthorne Pack warriors, they wouldn’t be able to take down a Lycan like Zade. He was a pure-blood Lycan, so you could imagine what kind of strength he held and what kind of hell that he would unleash when he lost control over his beast.
Meanwhile, they watched as the warrior was on his last dying breath when the Lycan did something unthinkable.
