"Seara, what happened? Don’t you recognize me? It’s me, Neriah, your friend." Neriah looked as if she were lost for words at the rejection Seara was showing.

"No, you are not her," Seara replied, shaking her head. She couldn’t explain why she felt this way, but something about Neriah made her feel uneasy.

"What do you mean? I am Neriah," she said, her voice trembling slightly as she tried to approach Seara again. But when she reached out her hand to touch her, Seara swatted it away harshly.

"No! Get out of here!" Seara shouted, moving away from Neriah. She looked around, desperately searching for something to grab, but there was nothing nearby. Everything that could cause harm was out of reach. "Get away from me!" she screamed at the top of her lungs as she lunged toward Neriah.

Meanwhile, in the other room, the onlookers were stunned; they hadn’t expected this to happen. Zade was the first person to rush into Seara’s bedroom.

However, Seara didn’t attack Neriah; instead, Seara pushed her aside and dashed toward the door, running as fast as she could before Zade could reach her.

The hospital was a bit crowded that day, and Seara didn’t know where to go. She bumped into a few people, eliciting angry curses from them because of her reckless escape.

And that made her even more panicked.

There were a lot of people here, and the area was too spacious. All of them stared at her with a displeased gaze as they murmured something.

In her mind, Seara felt like she was able to hear them. They were cursing at her. They blamed her for everything that happened. They hated her.

She was useless and crazy, and she just proved it to them.

"No... stop, please..." Seara stopped running. She crouched down and covered her ears with both of her palms as she shut her eyes tightly. "No... I am not wrong. Don’t hurt me... get away from me..."

Everything was too much for her, and her senses were overwhelmed by the presence of these people. Even the air prickled her skin.

The world was too loud.

Seara felt the sudden fierce wave of terror and a sense of doom. She felt as if she were dying, as her mind jumped from one memory to another. It felt as if she were watching ten different movies at high speed. All the memories jumbled up together.

She wanted to die.

That way, all this suffering could probably stop.

Even her own body and mind hated her. She did not have a safe place anymore.

Until...

Zade found Seara almost right away in the lobby, as the people looked at her with confusion. Some of them wanted to approach her and asked whether she was fine, but they immediately stepped back when they saw a tall, scary man approach the girl.

Zade’s strong presence was enough to drive them away.

And what felt like eternity for Seara actually only happened in less than two minutes since she ran out of her room and ended up here.

"Don’t—don’t come near me..." Seara whimpered. She hit her head because her mind didn’t want to stop displaying the memories she didn’t want to remember. "Stop..."

"Seara..." Zade crouched down.

His first instinct was to pull her closer and wrap her in his arms, protecting her from the pain. But what could he do when the pain came from herself?

"Seara, it’s me." Zade touched her head; he caressed her hair lightly.

Today, Seara was in a good mood; she was even in a high spirit because she was going to meet with Neriah. She was wearing her yellow dress and asked Zade to braid her hair. She also asked Jane to put some lipstick on so she wouldn’t look like a corpse.

Yet, how could this meeting end up like this?

Zade couldn’t be certain anymore. One moment Seara was fine, but next she was having a mental breakdown.

"Zade, please... make it stop." Seara still closed her eyes, but vaguely she knew it was Zade who talked to her.

The sensation from his touch was different, and his strong presence was the one that anchored her from falling into the abyss.

Zade’s strong presence was enough to shut up the voices in her head and blur the images in her mind.

He was the only steady thing for her. Someone that she could hold onto.

"Please, make it stop." Seara was sure she was going crazy. She was not right in the head.

"I will." Zade gathered her in his arms and lifted her body to stand up, while Seara pressed her body against him and grabbed his jacket tightly as a response. She still had her eyes closed when Zade walked back to her bedroom.

After what happened, Ace had taken Neriah out of there. She was fine, only a little bit shaken up because she didn’t expect Seara would react strongly.

Therefore, when Zade brought her back, no one was there. The room was empty, and as the door closed, it drew out all the noises.

"It’s okay. You are okay now."

[Zade,] Jane mind-linked him, but Zade’s strong response quieted her down.

[Don’t you dare to say I should leave.]

After that, Zade closed the mindlink, as he put all of his focus on his mate, who was still trembling in fear. And when he spoke again, her voice was very gentle. It was so different from the way he talked to Jane earlier.

"It’s okay now."

"Don’t leave me," Seara whimpered.

Zade had to lie down with her on the bed as well because she didn’t want to let go of his jacket. Seara even tangled her legs with his, so Zade couldn’t go away from her.

"I will never do that." Zade caressed her back and kissed her forehead. She was so small in his arms, so fragile, and it didn’t sit right with him.

"I want to go home..."
