Two weeks later, Jane agreed to let Neriah meet with Seara. The medication was working well on her, but it was too early to say that she was fine.

Her emotions could be unstable, especially when Jane reduced Zade’s visiting time to only two hours per day; Seara became restless and a little bit agitated whenever Zade had to leave.

However, Jane not only had to deal with Seara; she had to face Zade’s murderous glare whenever she reminded him it was time to go, because his mate had to attend the next activity.

Because of that, Zade was literally living in the hospital; he even had his own bedroom now.

"You know what? Why don’t I treat you as well? You need help too," Jane said to Zade when once again the king of the Lycans looked as if he wanted to strangle her to death. "Your obsession with her is not healthy."

"My obsession with her is the only reason I don’t commit a mass murder."

If not for the fact that he would have gone insane for years from the backlash of wiping out a pack, the Blackthorne Pack would only be history.

Even now, Zade could still feel his beast’s bloodlust after killing a few people in a short amount of time.

"If you were human, you would have been put behind bars." Jane shook her head in disbelief.

"They are here," Zade said when Ace and Zephyr mind-linked him. They informed him that they had arrived at the hospital with Neriah while ignoring Jane’s remark about his lack of morals.

They had confirmed with Seara that Neriah was indeed one of the two friends she had back in the Blackthorne Pack, and Seara also agreed to this meeting.

"Great, let’s meet her."

Less than an hour later, Zade told Seara that Neriah was there to see her. They had informed Seara about this meeting beforehand so that they wouldn’t catch her off guard.

"Do you bring what I asked you? I want to give Neriah the bracelet." Seara was in a good mood today, though she didn’t really have an appetite.

"Here you go." Zade pulled out two blue boxes from his jacket and handed them to her.

When Seara knew Neriah would come over, she looked excited, and Zade was relieved to see the progress. Ace had said that Neriah was also clear. There was no bad report about this young omega, and it was confirmed that her parents died in a car accident before she went to his territory.

"Thank you." Seara stood on her tiptoes and pulled Zade down to kiss him on the cheek because he was too tall. The Lycan King had to bend down to make up for their height difference.

"I will leave you with her, okay?" Zade caressed her hair and kissed her forehead.

"Okay. Thank you." Seara was beaming. Her eyes lit up with excitement. She was not allowed to go out, so they would meet in this room.

Meanwhile, Jane, Ace, and Zephyr were watching everything from the other room.

When Zade stepped outside, he saw that Neriah was standing right by the door. She lowered her head and greeted him politely.

"Mind what you will say," Zade said coldly. The tone that he used with Neriah was so different from the one he used when he talked to his mate.

"Yes, King Zade," Neriah responded fearfully. She stepped inside the room as Zade held the door open for her.

The room that Seara occupied was very simple; it was not large, since Seara still felt restless in a spacious space.

There were only a bed and a cabinet with two chairs and a table. It was very simple and practical.

"Seara?" Neriah smiled widely when she saw Seara and then rushed to hug her. "Oh, Seara. I don’t know what to say. I finally found you." Neriah squeezed her body tightly. "How are you?"

Her voice filled with excitement because it could be said it was the first time they had met again after more than three years.

The last time Neriah saw her was when they were eighteen.

"I am so happy for you that you finally can escape the pack." Neriah then realized Seara didn’t respond to her, so she loosened her arms around Seara’s body and pulled away slightly. "Seara, is everything okay?" She looked at her with concern in her eyes. "Seara?"

On the other hand, Seara had no response; she simply stared at Neriah’s face as if it were the first time she had seen her.

The strange part was that Seara recognized Neriah, her friend from the pack, but she couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off. A sense of unease washed over her, and she couldn’t explain why.

It almost felt as if the person in front of her was not Neriah. Yet, she knew it was her. There was no mistake.

Although they had not seen each other in years, Neriah hadn’t changed much aside from her hair getting longer.

What was going on? Had she really gone insane now?

Seara clutched the side of her dress. Her first instinct was to run away from her. She was scared... she felt as if she were in danger with Neriah.

Why did she feel that way?

"Seara? Are you alright?" Neriah looked worried. "Are you okay?"

’Bitch.’

"What?" Seara took a step back. She pushed Neriah away from her a little too hard until she stumbled. "What did you say?"

Neriah was stunned. "I asked if you were okay." Thankfully, she managed to catch herself before she fell. "Seara? It’s me. Don’t you remember me?"

Seara shook her head. "No." She bit her lip and felt agitated. It was so clear that the person in front of her was Neriah, but why did she feel this way about her?

She didn’t want Neriah to get close to her; she didn’t want her in this room.

She was... scared.
