"Stop! Stop. You are not real." Seara closed her eyes but could still hear his voice. She covered her ears, pressing her palms tightly against the sides of her head, trying to block out his sinister voice. "Stop. Stop."
It was quiet for a moment. She couldn’t see him, and she couldn’t hear him. He would fade away soon. He would disappear.
Seara couldn’t let Leia know about it; Zade might be worried again, and Jane would suggest she should stay in the hospital again.
She didn’t want to. She hated that place. She didn’t want to go back; even though they treated her well, she didn’t want to be there. Despite what Jane said, she always thought that if she were there, it meant she was mentally unwell.
She was crazy, to put it simply.
However, a moment later, she felt someone touch her, and she reacted strongly to the touch. In her mind, it was that man who had touched her. Her hallucination had reached the point where she could feel it on her skin.
Yet, apparently, that was not the case.
When Seara opened her eyes, she saw Leia on the floor; the hot tea was all over her body and face, but that was not the worst of it. The cup had shattered when Seara pushed her.
Apparently, Leia was worried when she saw Seara covering her ears and shutting her eyes. She called to her several times, but Seara didn’t respond, so Leia touched her. This caused Seara to have a sudden outburst.
On the other hand, Leia seemed too shocked to comprehend what had happened to her; she stayed still, staring at the blood from her arm, where the shattered teacup grazed her.
And because the warriors who had come into the room earlier were still outside the door, they could hear the small commotion and the shattered cup, and they barged inside almost right away.
"What happened? Mrs. Sol, what’s going on?" The warrior immediately called for backup, thinking Seara and Leia were under attack, and the other warrior came to Seara to check her condition.
"I am fine... I am fine..." Seara recoiled when he came toward her. "Don’t touch me..." She murmured, trying to get away from the warrior, who was confused by her reaction as she mumbled incoherent words.
And when it was too overwhelming, Seara burst. She screamed at the warrior.
"I SAID DON’T TOUCH ME!"
Seeing her outburst, the warrior backed down, and Leia stood up to tell the two warriors to stay outside.
"But you are bleeding."
"It’s healed already," Leia said with urgency. She showed her arm. The cut wound had closed in, leaving only the remaining blood. She had perfectly healed due to her healing ability as a shifter. "Leave now," Leia said sternly.
Yet, before they could leave, the door was opened again, and this time Zade and Caspian entered the room.
"What’s going on?" Caspian asked, and his eyes landed on the blood that covered Leia’s left hand. "What happened? Who did this to you?"
Seara stumbled back. It was her. She was the one who had caused Leia to get hurt. She was the one who had harmed her.
"I am sorry... I am sorry... I didn’t mean it. I am sorry." Seara shook her head as she backed away. She ruined it again. She made people hate her.
She knew how protective a Lycan was of their mate, and for her to harm Leia, it must be unforgivable. How could she defend herself from this when the fact was right before their eyes?
Would Zade send her back to the hospital?
"She did this to you?" Caspian asked with a frown. He didn’t mean it as an accusation, but he was bewildered why Seara suddenly attacked his mate.
However, in a situation like this, it could be misinterpreted easily.
"Caspian," Leia hissed at her mate, telling him not to ask anything.
"Caspian, take Leia out of the room. Everyone out," Zade said in a calm voice, but they could sense the storm beneath it. Seara was about to crash out again.
Silently, Caspian took his mate out of the room, followed by the other warriors.
"It’s okay, Seara. It’s fine now. Come here." Zade walked slowly toward her; his eyes were gentle as he put his focus on his mate alone.
"No... I am sorry. I didn’t mean to push her. I am sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt her." Seara stood still; she was hesitant to take Zade’s hand. "The man... the man with red eyes. I am sorry."
Her words jumbled up, but Zade caught the mention of the man with the red eyes.
"He shouldn’t be here... he was here, and then he was not."
"It’s okay." Zade took her hand and pulled her gently toward him.
"Why am I seeing him again? Have I gone crazy? Something is not right with my head." Seara couldn’t focus on Zade. The closeness and his touch didn’t bring comfort for her. Her mind was like a battlefield. "Don’t send me back to the hospital, please... Don’t send me back. I will stop seeing that man. I promise... I don’t want to go."
"No, I will not send you anywhere, Seara. You will not go anywhere that you don’t want to." Zade caressed her back lightly.
"There was a man. A red-eyed man... he was here..."
"Okay, I will ask someone to look for him." Zade glanced at the clock. "You are late for your medicine. Come here, you will feel better."
That might be it. It could explain why she saw that man again. She must have forgotten her medicine; that was why she started seeing things again.
"Let’s go back for now, okay?"
Seara nodded. She clutched onto Zade as he escorted her out of Ace’s house. Leia and Caspian were not there, and the warriors kept their distance; they didn’t even dare to look in her direction.
But from here, Seara could see the fire was still burning. It was so red that it turned the night sky into day.
