Chapter 74: Chapter 74 Beastly Trio

"Mai, Obi, and Georgios are here! We’re saved!"

The members of Black Maria cheered. When they were first informed about the intruders, they had thought they were crazy for coming straight into their territory.

But after seeing most of their comrades fall, they began to regret underestimating them. The three intruders were simply too strong.

However, now that the Beastly Trio had finally arrived, there was no way the intruders would leave this place alive. The trio were among the strongest hunters working directly under Maria.

The speciality of the class was that, despite all three hunters using the same class, each user received a different Beast Form when they equipped it.

For Mai, it was Tiger Form. For Obi, it was Eagle Form. And for Georgios, it was Bison Form.

Each Beast Form granted a different set of abilities and combat advantages, making every Beast Champion unique despite sharing the same class.

Their reputation was well-known throughout the West Region. They were feared as some of the most formidable hunters under Black Maria.

Lars stared at Mai, remaining alert. He could immediately tell that she was strong.

’Is this one of the top three hunters of Black Maria that Old Man Lee and Chou mentioned?But I don’t see White Feathers.Maybe they’re not the ones they were talking about?’

Lars slowly nocked an arrow onto his bow.

"This is the first time since I joined Black Maria that someone has dared to attack our territory. You’re quite brave to attack our club."

"But tell me...is it because you’re brave, or because you’re simply stupid?" Mai taunted. She still had one leg raised in her Muay Thai stance.

Lars didn’t respond.

"Well, so far, you’ve only faced weak and useless minions. Now, let’s see how you fare against an elite."

Mai suddenly stomped her foot against the floor. She dashed forward, closing the distance between them in less than a second.

Yet Lars didn’t flinch. Mai swung her leg forward in a wide arc.

"Windstep Shot!"

Lars immediately moved backward, barely evading Mai’s kick. He quickly drew his bow and fired an arrow at her.

SWOOSH!!

’There’s no way she can avoid this!’ Lars smiled confidently.

Mai saw the arrow flying toward her. She suddenly twisted her body acrobatically, narrowly evading the arrow before landing gracefully on both feet.

"She can evade an arrow from that distance?!" Lars was shocked.

But Mai was already coming at him again. This time, she unleashed a combo of punches and kicks.

Lars barely managed to evade her attacks, thanks to the passive skill Windrunner, which increased his movement speed as long as he held a bow.

But Mai’s attacks kept getting faster and faster. Eventually, Lars could no longer evade them all.

THUMP!!

Mai’s fist slammed directly into Lars’s abdomen, striking the exact spot where he had been injured before.

"ARRGH!"

Lars cried out in pain. Although the wound was almost completely healed, the pain was still there. Lars instinctively backed away, bending over while clutching his abdomen.

Mai immediately saw an opening. She stepped forward and unleashed a powerful kick directly toward Lars’s face.

Lars struggled to stand as dizziness washed over him. He slowly got back on his feet before raising his head and fixing his sharp gaze on Mai.

"Yes! That is the look I like! Give me a real fight!" Mai grinned.

Lars then changed his class to Phantom Magus. He took a deep breath and calmed himself down. Right now, he was facing a powerful opponent.

If he couldn’t keep his mind focused, he would lose before the fight even truly began. He then remembered the words Vega had once told him.

"You are the one using the Class, not the Class using you."

Lars clenched his fists. He realized that becoming stronger wasn’t simply about creating more Classes but he also needed to master every Class he already possessed.

Mai was the first to attack. Lars didn’t move as she approached him. Mai sensed something was different about him, but she continued her attack. She leaped into the air and raised her knee toward Lars.

Suddenly, Lars’s eyes widened. He quickly sidestepped the attack before swinging his sword forward. However, Mai caught his hand holding the sword.

She pulled Lars toward her before throwing him over her shoulder. Lars was sent flying forward, but he quickly landed against a nearby wall. He immediately pushed off the wall with his legs and rushed back toward Mai.

Mai swung her fist forward as Lars rushed toward her. But suddenly, Lars disappeared. Mai’s eyes widened.

Then, she could suddenly feel a surge of energy gathering behind her.

She quickly turned her head and saw Lars standing directly behind her with a mass of dark magic gathering in his palm.

"Shadow Burst!"

BOOM!!

The dark magic struck Mai directly in the back. The powerful burst of magical energy engulfed her body, sending her staggering forward.

Blood began to cover Mai’s body as she struggled to stand. She then raised her hand and licked the blood from it before grinning.

"This is it! This is what I want! A deadly match!"

Suddenly, her pupils narrowed into those of a predator and the red aura surrounding her body intensified.

Her canine teeth began to grow, while her body slowly transformed, taking on the characteristics of a tiger.

This was the ultimate skill of the Beast Champion, Beast Morph.

"RAAARRR!"

Her roar echoed throughout the entire club. Mai then dropped onto all fours and charged toward Lars like a wild beast.
