Chapter 82: Chapter 82 Ambushers Ambushed

Thom and his group were forced to fight the Hobgoblin Chieftain. However, as they fought the boss, Thom and some of his men kept glancing behind them. They knew Lars had a Class that could turn him invisible. They didn’t want to let their guard down and risk being ambushed from behind.

Lars, on the other hand, didn’t care about them at all. Instead, he was busy mining all the Mana Ore inside the room.

"There are so many of them here! I have actually struck gold!" Lars said excitedly.

After about forty-five minutes, the boss was finally defeated. Thom wiped the sweat from his forehead. Suddenly, he heard a familiar sound coming from somewhere.

Ting!

Ting!

Ting!

"That guy... is he actually mining while we were fighting?!" Thom couldn’t believe it. "Find him!" he shouted angrily.

All his men quickly scattered around the room and began searching for Lars. Suddenly, one of them was thrown toward the other side of the room, while another was sent flying into the air.

"He’s here! He’s invisible!" one of the men shouted.

"Shandri!" Thom shouted. A woman stepped forward and raised her palm before releasing a cloud of smoke that quickly spread across the area.

"Tch! They’re actually cleverer than I thought," Lars muttered as he realized they had found a way to counter his Clandestine Magi.

As Thom’s group watched the smoke, they suddenly noticed a swirling movement within it. Thom grinned before raising his axe. The green Mana Crystal embedded in his axe suddenly began to glow. He then swung it downward.

"Terra Spike!"

BOOOM!!

A massive spike shot out from the ground, its sharp point aimed directly at the area covered by smoke. Lars was shocked by the sudden attack, but he managed to evade it at the last moment.

"What a powerful effect! I only added one Mana Crystal, but its attacks are already enhanced this much!" Thom said excitedly as he looked at his axe.

"Mana Crystal?" Lars overheard Thom’s words. He glanced at Thom’s axe and noticed the crystal embedded in it, which he hadn’t seen before. Curiosity immediately filled his mind.

’I need to Inspect that weapon!’

He grinned before equipping Gale Bowmaster and jumping high into the air. He then released a barrage of arrows toward the enemies. Each arrow moved at incredible speed, striking Thom’s men one after another.

"Argghh!"

"Arghhh!"

Most of Thom’s men collapsed onto the floor before eventually vanishing as they were revived using Revival Crystals. Once activated, the crystals would teleport them back to the entrance of the dungeon portal. Soon, only Thom and a few slightly higher-ranked hunters remained.

Lars then changed his Class to Ice Warlock and cast Ice Prison. Ice shards erupted from the ground and quickly encapsulated all the remaining hunters up to their necks, leaving them completely unable to move.

"Urgh! I already told you to bring more people, Thom! Now look what’s happening!" Shandri shouted angrily at Thom.

Thom watched as Lars approached him. Lars then picked up the Earth Axe from the ground and used Inspection on it.

"Hey! What are you doing?! That’s my weapon!" Thom shouted.

After a few seconds, Lars finally finished inspecting it.

---

[Earth Axe +4]

Grade: B

Effect:

Earth Mana Crystal - Greatly enhances Earth-based skills.

Lars’s eyes widened as he read the information. The blueprint was then automatically stored inside his Blacksmith Archive.

"This weapon actually has a Mana Crystal in it. So this is one of the applications of Mana Crystals, huh? Hmm...hey, what does this +4 mean here?" Lars asked Thom.

"Why should I tell you?! That’s my weapon! Give it back! You don’t know how much money I invested in it!" Thom shouted as he began to shiver due to cold.

Lars’s eyes narrowed into a smile as he heard those words. Talking about money in front of Lars was a taboo thing to do.

"Then let’s do it like this. If you tell me where Celine is, I will give you your axe back. If not, I will take it with me," Lars said.

"How dare you!" Thom shouted as his veins bulging.

"So, do you want to tell me or not?" Lars asked while playfully swinging Thom’s axe around.

"Grrr!"

There was no way Thom could tell him Celine’s location. If Maria found out that he had revealed Celine’s location to an enemy, his head would surely roll.

But at the same time, he desperately needed his axe. It had been his partner throughout his years as a hunter. He was completely stuck between the two choices.

While waiting for Thom’s decision, Lars walked toward the boss’s corpse and collected the large Mana Crystal on top of its body, using his spear to pry it loose.

"Is this Mana Crystal the same one that is placed on this axe? Are they actually the same thing?" Lars wondered. To answer his question, he would need to bring it back and study it. After around 30 minutes, he was done and he returned to Thom.

"So, what is your decision?" he asked.

"I will never tell you anything!" Thom said firmly.

He had decided to prioritize his life over his weapon. If he lost his weapon, he could always buy another one. But if he lost his life, there would be no second chance.

"I see. Then, begone!"

Lars raised his hand. A chilling ice storm appeared in the room before large, sharp shards of ice formed above their heads.

"No, no!"

Shandri and the others were terrified as they saw the ice shards. Although they would be revived afterward, they could still feel the pain of death.

"Don’t think you’ve gotten the upper hand, brat!" Thom shouted. "Do you think you’re safe now? All our people are already on the move, including our top hunters! You and that tiny company will be completely demolished!"

"Company?"

Lars’s eyes narrowed as he heard Thom’s words. But he still finished his casting. The massive ice shards came crashing down toward the group, killing all of them.

As soon as the icy dust cleared, all of them were already gone.

"Why do I suddenly have a bad feeling?"
