Chapter 1469: Chapter 9-13: Duel to the Death (Part 2)
On the battlefield, life and death are decided in an instant. A moment of hesitation, a moment of ignoring danger, can lead to irreparable disastrous consequences.
The seasoned Judger Mech Knights knew that under the threat of the bandit army’s armored company at the foot of the mountain, in front of these thirty mechas looking like demons, their best option was to avoid being surrounded by the enemy and to avoid any form of contact.
Get out first!
The suddenly accelerating Judger squad rapidly advanced into the depths of the jungle. Led by Wood, five mechas moved at the front, with one Judger on each side guarding the flanks, while mechas number four, five, and six fell back a hundred meters to cover the rear.
Thirty Devil Mechas, in an irregular circle, rushed towards the center. As the Judgers ran, the encirclement of the Devil Mechas was quickly stretched into a long teardrop shape.
Directly in front of the Judger squad’s breakout direction, there were only three Devil Mechas.
Break through them! With a shout from Wood, the five Judgers soared into the air, like a meteor shower ripping through the atmosphere, launching a collective attack on the three oncoming Devil Mechas.
Bang! A loud explosion. A gust of wind rose from the ground, sweeping in all directions. In the blink of an eye, the eight mechas were engaged in close combat.
Wood punched towards the opponent in front. The Judger’s long legs bent slightly as they landed after firing in mid-air, then quickly sprang forward with force. The athletic body unfolded, and as the waist straightened to punch, the fist that howled through the air concentrated all the strength of the body, the ground rebound, and the engine mechanics. Powerful and swift, unmatched in speed.
In a flash, the Devil Mecha twisted its waist fiercely, its feet taking a strange misstep, its body shifting sideways in a pose defying the laws of physics, dodging Wood’s invincible punch at the last possible moment, while reversing a hand knife chop towards the Judger 2 behind Wood.
Piloting the Judger 2 was Vice Captain Vego. This former Army Colonel, with a flat long face, sparse yellow goatee, and pale blue eyes, hadn’t expected Wood’s lightning punch to miss. Nor did he expect that the mecha in front could cut sideways to his flank with such a move.
Just aiming to assist from the side, he had to follow the momentum of the knee drop, tumbling away in an unsightly roll to avoid the opponent’s hand knife.
The hand knife sliced through the air with a sharp whistle.
The Devil Mecha didn’t stop, turning its body along the momentum of the hand knife, taking to the air, its legs spinning horizontally, like a big windmill, kicking towards Wood’s just-turned mecha face. Wood crossed his arms to shield as the Devil Mecha’s mechanical legs collided forcefully, pushing the Judger backward by five meters under immense force, the anti-slip treads scraping up dirt, revealing two deep trenches.
Meanwhile, the other two Devil Mechas had also engaged with the three Judgers next to Wood. At the first clash, both sides used extremely fierce killing moves. Although the three Judgers didn’t suffer, their fierce attacks, which were effective against ordinary Mechanical Warriors, were also blocked by the Devil Mechas.
Bang! Bang! Several loud explosions followed. From the moment of head-on collision to engagement, it all happened in a flash. In an instant, one could only see a few mechas leaping and dodging, their fists and feet exchanging blows, leaving onlookers dazzled.
"Who are they?!"
This maddening question spun endlessly in Wood’s mind. He gritted his teeth and lunged forward, the mecha darting out swiftly, a knee strike aimed straight at the Devil Mecha’s head. The transition from being kicked back to counterattacking was so rapid that it left people dumbfounded.
At that moment, Wood unhesitatingly unleashed his strongest combat power. Even after being modified and soaked in nutrient liquid, his brain ached like it was overexerted.
Cacophony of metallic clinks, with Judger’s lightning-fast punches and kicks, it was unknown how many strikes were performed in an instant. After withstanding most attacks, the Devil Mecha was kicked on the shoulder and flew backward. However, Wood couldn’t dodge the Devil Mecha’s final leg sweep and was kicked on the mechanical leg, causing the mecha to emit a harsh metal grinding sound.
Wood, with red eyes, cursed his bad luck. If not for the mecha suddenly being slightly uncontrollable, that kick could have crushed the opponent’s mecha cockpit! That inexplicable minor deviation allowed the opponent to escape.
The Devil Mecha, flying backward, supported itself on the ground with its hands, its body like a paper sheet lifted by the wind, rose and stood firmly on the ground, striking a combat stance, the roar of the engine growing increasingly piercing, the whole mecha resembling a low-growling tiger ready to launch a fatal strike at any time.
"Metalhead moves pretty fast!" Baz chuckled grimly.
The thirty Rampage mechas appearing here were part of the three hundred Rampage mechas Fatty sent to the battlefield — led by Baz, it’s the First Company, First Platoon of the bandit army’s Special Forces Camp.
Since receiving orders to enter the war zone, the First Company, First Platoon has been responsible for battlefield concealment in this sector. Before this, they had silently eliminated two Western Alliance reconnaissance teams in the jungle, confining the Western Alliance Army’s battlefield intelligence to an extremely narrow area in this zone.
Originally, Baz intended to lead the team deeper to see if they could sever the connection between the two Suss Armored Battalions and their rear troops five kilometers away. Upon entering the jungle, they discovered this Judger squad.
