The inside of the cabin was covered in soft moss, giving the whole place a strange but surprisingly cozy appearance. The walls were almost completely green, with thick moss spreading across the floor and climbing up the sides in uneven patches. The air carried a strong, musky smell that made Chen immediately rub his nose as he stepped inside, clearly not a fan of the scent.

Skyy, on the other hand, seemed to love it. His eyes shimmered as he looked around curiously, his gaze moving from the moss-covered walls to the tiny white mushrooms growing here and there.

The entire place was so green, soft, and squishy that it looked almost like something out of a fairytale.

"You can sleep over there," Chen said, pointing toward one corner of the cabin before walking over and settling himself into one of the rocking chairs.

Skyy followed his finger and immediately brightened. The corner Chen had pointed to was covered in a thick layer of moss, with several little white mushrooms growing among it.

He stared at it for a moment before slowly walking over and lowering himself onto the soft surface. His body sank slightly into the moss, and he let out a small, contented sigh as he shifted around to get comfortable.

He had never slept on anything like this before. Back where he had come from, everything had been made of cold metal and hard surfaces. Even something as simple as a bed had never felt this soft and alive.

Chen watched his reaction from the rocking chair, unable to hide the amusement in his eyes. "You know, from the way you're reacting to everything here, I initially thought you really were an alien."

Skyy turned his head toward him and smiled brightly. "I'm not an alien. Though I did live in space."

Chen's rocking slowed as his curiosity immediately piqued. He studied Skyy's innocent expression for a moment before leaning slightly forward. "You lived in space? What was your life like there? I mean… in the future?"

Skyy slowly lay back against the moss, his gaze moving toward the rough brown wooden ceiling above him. For a few moments, he seemed lost in thought, and when he finally spoke, the brightness in his expression had faded considerably.

His voice was quiet, almost distant.

"Humans were said to be almost extinct by then. There weren't enough humans left to sustain the population, so they started bioengineering humans who could become pregnant."

Chen's expression slowly changed.

Skyy continued, his eyes remaining fixed on the ceiling.

"I didn't have a mother or a father. I was made in a laboratory."

His fingers slowly curled into the moss beneath him.

"I was raised there. Cold metal walls surrounded me every day. There were no trees, no grass, nothing alive that wasn't created for a purpose. We weren't even allowed to look outside whenever we wanted."

His voice softened.

"We were only allowed to look through the windows once a week."

A faint smile appeared on his lips.

"That was my favorite day."

Chen's amusement disappeared completely as he listened. He could almost imagine a much younger Skyy sitting in some cold laboratory, waiting desperately for that one day when he would be allowed to see the outside world.

"You were technically a prisoner," Chen said, his voice quieter now.

"Hmm." Skyy reached out and gently touched one of the small mushrooms growing beside him, his fingers brushing over its tiny cap. "We were also made for breeding with ability users. I was assigned to Kaden as a breeding partner."

Chen immediately sat up straighter, his fingers tightening around the arm of the rocking chair. "Kaden? That guy?"

Skyy looked at him and innocently nodded. "Hmm. Thankfully, he was a good guy. He helped us escape from there. We managed to get away, but our escape pod caught fire on the way down, and we ended up being sent here. If that hadn't happened, I would probably have already had a child by now."

His hand slowly moved down to his stomach, resting against his flat abdomen as he stared at it with an expression Chen couldn't quite understand. There was something strange in his eyes, almost like he was wondering what his life would have looked like if things had gone differently.

"I knew a guy who was pregnant at my base," Skyy continued after a moment. "He once told me that carrying a child was a wonderful feeling. He genuinely loved having the baby inside him. He would talk about feeling the baby move and how happy it made him. He really loved that child."

The faint smile on Skyy's face slowly disappeared as his eyes dulled.

"But as soon as the baby was born, they separated them. The child was taken away, and he was assigned to another breeding partner. Then he got pregnant again… and again… and again. They kept making him carry children until his body couldn't take it anymore."

Skyy's fingers tightened slightly against his stomach as he swallowed, his voice becoming quieter. "That's the fate of a PW man. We… we were never really treated like people. We were just one of those fancy machines they created to produce ability users for them."

Chen remained silent in the rocking chair, his grip still tight around the wooden armrest. He had expected Skyy's past to be strange, considering everything he had already learned about him, but he hadn't expected something like this.

"But I'm lucky," Skyy said after a moment, his expression slowly brightening again. "I get to live here now. Even though there are dangerous zombies and viruses everywhere, and we never really know what might happen tomorrow, it's still a much better place than the one I came from."

He looked up at Chen with a dazzling grin, his eyes carrying a warmth that hadn't been there when he was talking about his past.

"I really like it here. I like the place, but more than that, I like the people. Everyone has been so kind to me. Chen's family, your friends… they all treat me well. No one looks at me like I'm some kind of tool or something they can use. Here, I'm not a PW."

His smile softened as he rested his head against the moss, his fingers absentmindedly brushing over the soft green surface.

"Nobody cares about what I was made for. They don't care about what I can do or what my body was created to do. They just see me as me."

"I'm just Skyy."

His dazzling smile returned, brighter than before.

"And I really, really like that."
