Feeling the soul eroding power disappearing alongside the strange blob that had been devouring the core of the pyramid shaped formation pillar, the two Void Integration Realm cultivators felt a wave of relief wash over them as they also felt Xuan Hao’s divine sense leaving now that it wasn’t needed any longer. Aware that they now had a far better chance of fighting back in case Xuan Hao decided to try and fight them, something the person in question had no intention of doing, as he was far more focused on getting back to Desolate River City if possible. Wanting to get out of the twenty ninth floor of the tower alive if possible. Having already obtained what he wanted from the fragmented continent.

Whoosh~

Because of this, before the two Void Integration Realm cultivators had the time to open their mouth following the death of the blob created through the Dao of Corruption, Xuan Hao had already walked up to the passage leading back in the direction of Desolate River City. Knowing that it was unlikely that he would be able to convince any of the two Void Integration Realm cultivators to go first now that the soul eroding power that had threatened them earlier was gone.

Not to mention, starting a fight inside the stone pyramid where the formation pillar’s core was located wasn’t really something he wanted to do in the first place as there was a very real risk of accidentally destroying the formation core with their strength.

Normally this might have been impossible to accomplish, but the formation core itself had been severely weakened thanks to the blob that had been devouring it earlier and needed some time to fully recover back to its former state. Even if the core itself was protected, fighting two Void Integration Realm cultivators at the same time would cause a lot of damage and might destroy the spatial channel even if it didn’t end up destroying the core itself, something he didn’t want to run the risk of happening.

"Huh? He... He left?"

"..."

But even then, him deciding to leave just like that without doing anything nor even bothering to investigate the state of the other spatial channels and if they might lead to somewhere with treasures waiting, caught the two Void Integration Realm cultivators off guard. Not that they complained about it. In fact, they were more than happy to see Xuan Hao leave, as with him around, they were in a constant state of fear not knowing when he might end up attacking them.

The reason for this fear not only having to do with the strength he had displayed through his divine sense, but also the fact that they were still unable to fully comprehend his strength and could only guess that he was a senior at the Void God Realm. An existence whose strength would have left them unable to resist in case he became hostile to them. Completely different from how they faced each other, as the difference in strength between the Peak of the Void Integration Realm and the Late Stage of the Void Integration Realm wasn’t anywhere near comparable to the vast difference between someone in the Void Integration Realm and the Void God Realm.

In a way, because of the pressure Xuan Hao had unknowingly placed the two under and the deadly situation they had just gone through, they didn’t turn hostile towards one another after Xuan Hao left and instead ended up forming an alliance. Planning to wholeheartedly cooperate now that they were aware of just how deadly this place was along with the fact that seniors at the Void God Realm had already started to appear.

"Should we go back before we end up in another deadly situation?"

"Go back... No, that senior already left and this might be the only opportunity we have left to try and get something of value out of this place. I’m not giving up before I find something that can help me reach the Void God Realm."

"That... I understand, I plan to stay as well. If I don’t find anything to help me reach the Void God Realm in the future, I won’t have much longer to live after I leave this place."

"Indeed, that soul eroding power ended up doing us in. Erasing so much of our life span in such a short time. The only good thing to come from all this is the fact that we should have a real chance finding a treasure leading to the Void God Realm if we go through one of the paths that senior ignored..."

"True, but let’s first look through this place to ensure we don’t miss anything of value."

"Of course."

In the end, the two quickly came to an agreement on how to handle the situation they found themselves in. Working together to explore the inside of the stone pyramid. Hoping to find something of value inside it that Xuan Hao might have missed due to how fast he had ended up leaving the place.

Of course, they had no way of knowing that Xuan Hao had already done a general sweep of the place with his divine sense to make sure he didn’t end up leaving some precious treasure or artifact behind before he had left through the spatial passage.

Still, the time they spent searching through the place together did present them with a perfect opportunity to grow even closer, something they were both intent on doing knowing that their own strength wouldn’t be enough to handle the difficulties they would end up facing in their continued search of the ancient city ruins and different places connected to those ancient city ruins.

No to mention, working together, they did stand a fair chance resisting against someone who had just barely broken through to the Void God Realm. Able to buy enough time to run away like they had done earlier when facing off against the giant skeleton.

...

Not interested in the fate of the two Void Integration Realm cultivators he had left behind in the stone pyramid without the slightest bit of hesitation, Xuan Hao found himself once again drifting through the empty void for another hour. Feeling a sense of growing unease knowing he wasn’t entirely out of danger yet. Aware that this spatial channel might very well bring him to somewhere far deadlier within the palace complex of the ancient city center.

For this reason, he knew he couldn’t relax in the slightest even when he was being carried through the empty void separating the small island in the middle of the chaotic spatial currents from the ancient city center of Desolate River City.

Ruuuumble~!

But before he could even get back to the ancient city center, a faint rumbling sound in the distance captured his attention. Not just because of how unusual it was for there to be any sort of sound inside the empty void he was being shuttled through, but also because of what this loud rumbling sound symbolized.

The- the channel is broken!?

Feeling the unease from not knowing what he would face on the other end of the spatial channel surge as he realized he wouldn’t even have a chance to reach the other side, Xuan Hao could only stare helplessly as he drew closer to the increasingly loud rumbling sound that had by now grow deafeningly loud even before he laid his eyes on the place where the channel had been broken.

Even though he felt confident in being able to endure those deadly chaotic spatial currents for a few minutes, he understood full well that getting back to shore was close to impossible within such a short time where his movement technique would be entirely limited to the Illusory Light Steps as using the Drifting Cloud Steps that involved spatial manipulation was nothing short of a death sentence within those chaotic spatial currents.

Not just because of how difficult it would be to move using spatial manipulation, but because there was a good chance he would end up being thrown outside the fragmented continent with the first step he took.

The only good news was the fact that he should be close to the shore. Having already spent close to an hour inside the spatial channel. Meaning there was still hope for him to make it out of his current situation safely, though the chances of making it out alive weren’t exactly great.

But... One not so wanted benefit of being thrown into those chaotic spatial currents, was the fact that it would allow him to deepen his comprehension of the Dao of Space. Making future progress through the Origin Realm far smoother.

Not that he wanted it if it could be avoided, as being torn apart by chaotic spatial currents wasn’t exactly something on his bucket list even if it was beneficial to his comprehension of the Dao of Space and he wouldn’t end up dying because he was inside the tower. In the end, he would still lose everything he had picked up so far on the twenty ninth floor.
