Chapter 180: Chapter 129: Besieged

He greedily eyed Luo Anning’s graceful figure.

’This woman... so beautiful, so talented. It’s enough to make anyone jealous.’

’Only a woman like this is worthy of being conquered by me, Hu Guangshao.’

’Only by conquering a woman like this can I, Hu Guangshao, show my true prowess.’

An unnatural flush appeared on Hu Guangshao’s face. A slight bulge formed beneath his robes; he was actually aroused.

Luo Anning acted as if she hadn’t heard Hu Guangshao’s voice at all. Her sword light flowed like an endless stream of water.

The Kan Water Realm could be yielding to the extreme.

Though it was ill-suited for defeating foes, when focused solely on self-preservation, even the Red-haired Corpse Demon couldn’t easily defeat her for the moment.

"Woman, you have succeeded in infuriating me."

Hu Guangshao said impatiently, letting out a few more calls into the passage.

The xun’s melody changed once more.

The Red-haired Corpse Demon’s attacks instantly grew fiercer. At the same time, the Black-haired Corpse Demons stirred again. Some surrounded Luo Anning, while the others charged toward Feng Zhengqian to kill him.

"Don’t damage her body! I’m going to fuck her to death!"

Hu Guangshao bellowed.

"Hu Guangshao, just you wait! Once I escape, I’ll annihilate your entire Hu Family!"

Feng Zhengqian watched the Black-haired Corpse Demons charge, a mix of terror and rage on his face. He forced himself to his feet and brandished the precious saber in his hand.

Although he was severely injured, he was, after all, an expert who had completed fifty percent of his blood exchange. Moreover, he had taken an Elixir from the Shennong Hundred Herbs Sect, so he wasn’t completely powerless to resist.

Luo Anning saw Feng Zhengqian being swarmed, but she was in no position to help.

A single Red-haired Corpse Demon was already incredibly difficult to handle; now, dozens of Black-haired Corpse Demons had swarmed in as well.

Fortunately, she saw Feng Zhengqian swinging his long saber, managing to temporarily fend off the Black-haired Corpse Demons’ attacks.

If it had been anyone else, they would have surely complained inwardly about how Feng Zhengqian clearly had some fight left in him, yet had been hiding in the back and not lifting a finger until now.

But Luo Anning’s mind was only on the mission. She paid no mind to the actions of others, knowing only that she had to do her own part.

"Captain Luo, save me!"

Feng Zhengqian swung his saber and decapitated a Black-haired Corpse Demon, but the movement tore open the wound on his abdomen again, and fresh blood began to flow out.

He cried out, both frightened and furious.

"Just hold on a little longer,"

Luo Anning said calmly.

"I can’t hold on! I’m injured, I’ve been poisoned, I’m done for!"

Feng Zhengqian wailed.

At such a critical moment, the great True Disciple of the Shennong Hundred Herbs Sect was proving to be so utterly pathetic.

The more pathetic Feng Zhengqian looked, the more excited Hu Guangshao became.

Shouts, the clang of metal, laughter, and the sound of the xun all mixed together in the deep cavern, creating an exceptional cacophony.

Just then, the sound of the xun abruptly stopped.

The once-ferocious Corpse Demons suddenly slowed down. Though they hadn’t stopped moving completely, they seemed to have lost their master, reverting to a state of acting on pure instinct.

Instantly, the pressure on Luo Anning and Feng Zhengqian was greatly reduced.

"Uncle Zhao, what’s going on?!"

Hu Guangshao frowned and shouted.

"Uncle Zhao? Eldest Young Master Hu, are you calling for him?"

SWOOSH!

Suddenly, a dull thud echoed from deep within the passage.

Immediately after, a body shot out from the passage like a cannonball.

The body was curled up like a shrimp, as if struck in the abdomen by a ferocious force.

Carried by a gust of wind, the body flew right into the battlefield, plowing through several Corpse Demons before slamming against the cave wall with a THUD and falling to the ground.

Hu Guangshao took a closer look and felt his soul nearly fly from his body in terror.

The body that had been sent flying had broken bones and was twisted grotesquely. It was clearly dead.

Zhao Wan!

The one who controlled these Corpse Demons with the sound of the xun!

’He’s dead!’

Hu Guangshao snapped his head up to look down the passage from which Zhao Wan had flown.

He saw a figure emerge, walking at a leisurely pace. It was a figure Hu Guangshao knew all too well—one he wanted to flay, dismember, and devour raw.

Su Mu!

Su Mu had a long saber hanging from his waist. His Taiping Captain’s Official Uniform accentuated his tall, slender build, which had what could only be called perfect proportions.

His relaxed demeanor, as if he were on a casual stroll, deeply stung Hu Guangshao.

"Su Mu!"

Hu Guangshao growled, grinding his teeth.

"It’s you again! You’re trying to ruin my plans again!"

Hu Guangshao roared furiously, "Don’t even think about it! You’ve just gone through blood exchange, and a trashy eight-times blood exchange at that! What makes you think you can fight me?!"

He reached into his robes and pulled out a xun of his own, carved from white bone. Placing it to his lips, he began to play.

As the sound of the xun rose, the Corpse Demons’ attacks instantly grew fierce once more.

A look of surprise crossed Su Mu’s face.

"Eldest Young Master Hu, you’re quite a man of many talents."

Several Black-haired Corpse Demons lunged at him, but Su Mu remained unhurried, a faint smile playing on his lips.

SWISH!

A flash of saber light erupted.

Su Mu’s figure weaved through the gaps between several Black-haired Corpse Demons, appearing behind them.

The Black-haired Corpse Demons froze in place. Then, a thin red line appeared on each of their necks simultaneously.

THCK! THCK! THCK!

With a series of soft thuds, several shaggy black heads rolled to the ground, and the bodies of the Corpse Demons crashed down.

The Black-haired Corpse Demons, with their bronze skin and iron bones that were impervious to blades and spears, were as fragile as paper under Su Mu’s Thunder Shocking Saber.

A flicker of fear flashed in Hu Guangshao’s eyes. He retreated step by step, blowing even more forcefully into the bone xun in his hand.

’Thunder Shocking Saber!’

’That’s our Hu Family’s Thunder Shocking Saber!’

’Damn it! He’s using my Hu Family’s saber to kill my Hu Family’s Corpse Demons!’

In his heart, Hu Guangshao wished he could kill Su Mu a thousand times over.

Su Mu wanted to take down Hu Guangshao first, but a glance from the corner of his eye caught Luo Anning and Feng Zhengqian.

Luo Anning was doing alright, barely holding on, but Feng Zhengqian was on the verge of collapse.

Though inwardly exasperated, Su Mu changed direction for the time being.

With a stomp of his foot, Su Mu charged into the battlefield, his Thunder Shocking Saber transforming into a streak of white silk.

In an instant, heads rolled. The seven or eight Corpse Demons surrounding Feng Zhengqian froze in unison. As their heads hit the ground, their bodies all crashed down.

THUMP!

Completely drained, Feng Zhengqian collapsed onto his backside, clutching the wound on his abdomen and gasping for air.

"Captain Su, great timing! Kill them all! I’ll reward you handsomely when this is over!"

Feng Zhengqian said, overjoyed at having survived the ordeal.

Su Mu just gave him an indifferent glance before ignoring him and turning to face Hu Guangshao, who had already retreated to the edge of the passage.

Hu Guangshao looked panicked and nearly lost his footing, but his eyes were filled with madness and ferocity.

"Die! All of you must die!

If you don’t die, I will! So it’s better if you all just die!"

He blew into the bone xun with all his might.

DONG!

DONG!

DONG!

The sound of heavy footsteps echoed from all the surrounding passages.

One after another, Red-haired Corpse Demons appeared in the deep cavern space.

One, two, three...

A total of five Red-haired Corpse Demons!

Beads of sweat covered Hu Guangshao’s forehead.

This was the limit of what he could control.

Five Red-haired Corpse Demons, and dozens of Black-haired Corpse Demons!

’Su Mu, oh Su Mu, what makes you think you can fight me?!’

’Struggle! Be terrified!’

’No matter how loud you scream, no one will come to save you!’

Hu Guangshao roared inwardly.

"Captain Su, Captain Luo, forget these Corpse Demons! Just protect me and get me out of here!"

Feng Zhengqian shouted in a panic. "As long as we escape, I can make sure the Hu Family is wiped from existence!"

Neither Su Mu nor Luo Anning paid him any mind.

If these were just some wild Corpse Demons, escaping wouldn’t be difficult.

But these Corpse Demons were being controlled. They would actively intercept and pursue them. Without dealing with them first, escape was almost impossible.

Now, with five Red-haired Corpse Demons blocking all the exits and dozens of Black-haired Corpse Demons surrounding them completely, how could escaping be so easy?

"Junior Sister Luo, watch him."

Su Mu said indifferently, stepping forward.

"Captain Su, what are you doing? Are you trying to escape by yourself? You can’t do that!"

Feng Zhengqian shouted in a panic.

But in the next moment, his shouts died in his throat. An expression of utter shock filled his face, his mouth hanging wide open.

Before him, a brilliant saber light blossomed.

The saber light was like rain, like wind. Time itself seemed to freeze within the cave.

SWISH.

A silver light swept past.

Su Mu’s figure appeared in front of Hu Guangshao, the Thunder Shocking Saber in his hand. Behind him, the Corpse Demons were all frozen in place.
