The decision to use the Gluttony Mask was difficult for Jacob because once the mask devoured a Quasi-Myth, its rank would instantly be upgraded to the same rank.
But right now, Jacob was confident he could handle the Gluttony Mask at Quasi-Myth Rank, despite the danger it would pose if Alexandra sensed its location.
However, Jacob also considers one crucial fact about Alexandra right now. She has been with the Destin Saint, and if she didn’t want him to find out about the Gluttony Mask, she most likely kept her mouth shut.
After all, she would be confident she could retrieve the Gluttony Mask from Jacob, but if it fell into Destin Saint’s hands, she would be in a situation similar to Jacob’s with the Immortal Nimrod.
At this moment, the Gluttony Mask’s endless darkness twisted like a living abyss, creating a terrifying attraction force as if a hungry maw of some ancient beast.
The next moment, the unconscious Myth of Black Archer never even stirred.
’WHOOSH!’
His entire body was swallowed without any resistance. Thereafter, the Gluttony Mask trembled slightly, and then countless streams of information flooded Jacob’s body as it began to morph.
Bones shifted, flesh formed, aura transformed, and laws adjusted, and moments later, the skeletal figure vanished. In its place stood the Myth of Black Archer, hooded. He was perfect without any flaws.
Every feature was identical, the aura was identical, and even the fluctuations of Dark Law and Space Law matched perfectly; not even another Myth, or probably Gods, could distinguish the difference anymore.
Jacob slowly examined his new appearance and then nodded with satisfaction.
Without wasting any time, a familiar communication fluctuation appeared in his memories.
The secret method used by the Mythical Coalition, and without hesitation, Jacob activated it; space rippled, and a hidden connection formed.
Moments later, a cold female voice echoed through the channel.
"Fellow Black Archer, I hope you didn’t encounter any trouble upon your arrival?" The cold voice belonged to the Myth of Oracle.
Jacob’s expression remained completely unchanged as he spoke; his voice was identical. "I haven’t Lady Oracle."
A brief silence followed before the Myth of Oracle asked, "It’s good to know. But you are, without a doubt, the strongest assassin of the Legendary Plains, so asking you if you’re fine would be an insult. So, since you are contacting this soon, did you find something?"
Jacob looked toward the distant horizon as countless possibilities flashed through his mind because from this moment onward, he was no longer Jacob to the Mythical Coalition; he was the Myth of Black Archer.
He was sent here to find the anomaly within the Undead Skyfall Canyons, and this is exactly what Jacob wanted when he presumed the Myth of Black Archer belonged to the Mythical Coalition and most likely played an important role, since he was sent alone into this dangerous place.
But sadly, none of them had expected the Myth of Black Archer, which they knew was already dead.
A faint smile appeared on Jacob’s new face as the game had just become far more interesting, and the Nightmare Plan could proceed smoothly!
Jacob’s transformed eyes flickered beneath the hood of the Myth of Black Archer as he glanced toward the distant horizon where the corrupted skies of Sagittarius Continent stretched endlessly.
"The Undead Legions have withdrawn."
After a moment of silence, even through the secret communication channel, he could feel the Myth of Oracle’s surprise.
"Withdrawn?"
"Yes." Jacob continued calmly, "I searched the outer territories and confirmed it personally. The roaming undead tides are gone. The hunting grounds are empty. After finding their traces, all signs indicate they have retreated toward the Undead Skyfall Canyons."
This time, the silence lasted longer as even the Myth of Oracle clearly hadn’t expected such a report.
Finally, she spoke, "Do you know why?"
Jacob’s eyes narrowed slightly. This was where the lies would be hidden among truths, as the most convincing deception was never a complete fabrication. It was simply directing people toward the wrong conclusion.
"I cannot confirm the exact reason." He paused deliberately before continuing, "However, the Mythical Coalition’s arrival was not hidden, and our fleets entered the Great Cosmic Continent of Sagittarius’s outer space openly. The undead may have sensed the advance, and they might be consolidating their strength."
Jacob allowed a hint of uncertainty into his voice as he said, "Or perhaps, the Undead Skyfall is no longer capable of maintaining such large-scale operations."
The Myth of Oracle became thoughtful as Jacob continued.
"I also detected abnormalities throughout Sagittarius, the Death March appears unstable, and the undead movements are no longer coordinated. It is possible their source has weakened."
Naturally, every word after that was complete nonsense as the Death March wasn’t weakening. The true source of the undead catastrophe had simply encountered something far more terrifying than itself...Jacob!
Yet from the perspective of the Mythical Coalition, such speculation appeared perfectly reasonable, especially after the sudden retreat. After all, who would believe an entire undead civilization had been driven into hiding by a single individual?
Even Quasi-Myths would laugh at such a possibility.
Finally, the Myth of Oracle spoke again, "I see..."
For the first time since the communication began, Jacob sensed genuine satisfaction from her.
"Excellent work, fellow Black Archer. You have performed beyond expectations. The Coalition will remember this merit."
Jacob remained silent. Inside, however, his eyes turned colder, ’Merit? If they know who I truly am, they would probably mobilize every Myth they possessed to hunt me down or simply retreat...’
The Myth of Oracle continued, "Since your investigation is complete, I have another task for you."
Jacob’s eyes flickered. "Please don’t hesitate to speak."
"The vanguard fleet has established a foothold within the Sagittarius Continent. The Myth of Inferno and the Myth of Thunder are leading operations, as you’ve already known. Since you are already inside the continent."
The Myth of Oracle continued, making Jacob’s eyes narrow, "Since the Undead have retreated, they are no longer our primary concern. We need to locate the survivors."
Jacob’s pupils contracted slightly when he heard the word ’survivors’ since there were still details missing from the memories of the Myth of Black Archer.
’Why would they bother to rescue the survivors? Unless they are after someone specific...’
Immediately, another realization surfaced. Someone within the Mythical Coalition knew something, perhaps not everything, but enough to care about specific survivors hidden within Sagittarius, to send multiple Quasi-Myths personally, and enough to mobilize the entire Coalition.
Jacob instantly thought of one individual, ’Myth of Reverend? Is this your true goal? Could it be he’s after the Cursed One as well!’
