The southwestern skies of the Sagittarius Continent were eerily silent.
The massive war fleets bearing the insignia of the Mythical Coalition drifted through the gray heavens like floating fortresses. Their dark hulls cut through layers of lingering death mist while countless scanning arrays continuously swept the barren land below.
Ever since the Myth of Oracle relayed the latest intelligence, the atmosphere within the vanguard had grown increasingly strange.
The undead had vanished, but were weakened or destroyed. Even now, many of the fleet operators still struggle to accept the reports.
Inside the command bridge of the lead flagship, the Myth of Inferno leaned casually against a crystalline console while gazing at a projection of the continent.
"Still hard to believe..." He muttered.
The Myth of Thunder crossed his massive arms.
"The Black Archer has never been one for exaggeration." Crackles of lightning danced across his skin as he commented, "If he says the undead withdrew, then they withdrew."
"That isn’t what bothers me." The Myth of Inferno narrowed his fiery eyes, "What bothers me is why."
Before Thunder could reply, a ripple appeared within the cockpit, and space distorted. The next moment, a shadow appeared between them without warning.
First, both Quasi-Myth couldn’t even detect what happened, but when they managed to react, the Myth of Thunder’s fist was already wrapped in violent lightning, and the Myth of Inferno’s palm ignited with golden flames.
Yet before either attack could be unleashed, the familiar silhouette emerged completely. It was The Myth of Black Archer, or rather...Jacob is wearing the Black Archer’s appearance.
The two Quasi-Myths froze, then the Myth of Thunder let out a long breath.
"Damn it." The giant thunder-ogre glared. "You almost gave me an energy deviation."
Inferno dryly laughed loudly, "I thought an enemy Quasi-Myth had somehow infiltrated the bridge."
His burning eyes swept over Jacob, "I have to admit, if you’re our enemy, we’ve been in a terrible situation right now, but glad you’re not on the other side."
Jacob observed both Quasi-Myth rank beings as well. The Myth of Inferno wasn’t wrong. If Jacob really wanted to, he could’ve easily killed them, but he didn’t, since it wasn’t necessary anymore.
Pretending to be the Myth of Black Archer, he merely inclined his head and stated impassively, "As always, your vigilance is admirable."
The Myth of Thunder snorted, "Coming from the one person capable of appearing behind Quasi-Myths unnoticed, that isn’t reassuring. Only the Myth of White Swordsman could’ve seen you coming. Too bad he had another mission for quite a while right now."
When Jacob heard the familiar name of the Myth of White Swordsman, he couldn’t help but think of the first Quasi-Myth he had ever met within the Legendary Plains.
Jacob still has the invitation the Myth of White Swordsman gave him, but he never got the chance to seek him out, nor did he intend to. Still, now that he knew about the Mythical Coalition, he suspected the Myth of White Swordsman was probably planning to recruit him as well.
Even the Myth of Inferno couldn’t help but grin, and the tension eased slightly. After all, despite their racial differences, the Quasi-Myths of the Mythical Coalition have a pretty good relationship with each other.
But after a moment of ease, the business resumed as a continental map expanded before them.
"Since the undead are gone." The Myth of Inferno pointed at dozens of marked zones. "Which means we can finally search without constantly fighting."
The Myth of Thunder nodded in agreement, but there was a slight disappointment in his eyes as if he was looking forward to battling the elusive Undead Army of the Undead Skyfall Canyons.
The Myth of Inferno declared, "We’ll split our forces. The sooner we locate the survivors, the better."
Jacob’s eyes flickered, ’I guess there’s no longer any doubt. They are most likely after those survivors who were with Elia. And I already know exactly where they are hidden... the Evil Domain!’
Despite the prior knowledge about their target, Jacob naturally said nothing.
Instead, he calmly nodded, "A reasonable approach."
The Myth of Thunder immediately began issuing orders, "The northern sectors belong to me. Inferno takes the eastern territories."
He then looked toward Jacob, "The southwest region is yours. It was also previously known as the Ghost Domain of the Ghost Race, which were already crippled before the Life Faction decided to launch their war."
They both have no idea they were talking to the very same perpetrator who crippled the Ghost Race, the starting point of the Dark Beings’ downfall!
Jacob appeared indifferent as he nodded, "I’ll handle it."
Soon afterward, the fleets separated, like giant celestial beasts scattering across the continent.
Jacob’s assigned command consisted of two fully equipped war fleets, enough power to erase entire kingdoms from existence. Yet despite commanding such overwhelming force, his true focus lay elsewhere.
Nyx had already begun and infected both Quasi-Myth and many Legendary Kings within the vanguard fleet. The harvesting never stopped as every moment, every breath, everyone was unknowingly feeding lifespan into the growing abyss.
Jacob simply needed time, time to watch, and gather, and time to identify everyone involved in the hunt for the Cursed One, so he could take everything!
Just like that, several days passed, and the search continued, but they found nothing; no survivors, undead, or any clues regarding their whereabouts.
The southwestern territories were practically dead. Inside the flagship’s central command chamber, dozens of projections floated above massive control platforms.
Operators continuously monitored scanning arrays. Legendary Lords supervised fleet movements, and Legendary Kings coordinated search patterns.
At that moment, a towering ogre approached Jacob. The giant possessed gray skin covered in tribal scars; his aura was that of a Legendary King, powerful, steady, and disciplined.
He bowed respectfully, "Lord Black Archer."
Jacob raised his gaze from the projection table. "What is it?"
The ogre replied immediately with a grim expression, "We’ve completed another planetary-scale sweep. Still no signs of living beings."
Jacob pretended to be stern, "Nothing?"
"Nothing." The ogre hesitated. "Not even residual civilization traces."
Jacob nodded calmly, "I understand."
The ogre seemed ready to leave, yet suddenly, Jacob spoke again, "Tell me something."
The ogre paused, Jacob’s eyes narrowed slightly behind his hood as he questioned, "Are you a follower of the Order of Everlife?"
The question seemed random; the ogre blinked, then, surprisingly, his expression softened, and even a trace of reverence appeared.
He immediately placed a fist against his chest, "Indeed, I am."
’Interesting!’ Jacob’s eyes flickered almost imperceptibly, "Tell me more about the Order of Everlife!"
