Cursed Immortality

Chapter 1252: False Confidence

After the Myth of Oracle posed that grave question, the Myth of Reverend merely smiled subtly, which somehow made the room colder.

He slowly shook his head, "I’m afraid matters aren’t that simple."

The Myth of Oracle listened silently as the Myth of Reverend set the teacup down.

"Don’t forget. The Divine Spell covering the Sagittarius Continent remains fully active." His eyes narrowed slightly, "The target is still hidden somewhere within the continent. And if I want to reach that target and retrieve it...I must personally enter the Sagittarius Continent."

The Myth of Oracle immediately understood as she muttered, "The Divine Power."

The Myth of Reverend nodded, "Divine Power can only be countered by Divine Power. Any attempt to remove the spell from outside will fail, for the source must be dealt with directly."

The Myth of Oracle became solemn, which meant the greatest risk still remained.

The Myth of Reverend’s eyes shifted toward the distant projection of the Sagittarius Continent.

"And once I enter..." His smile disappeared. "The Undead Skyfall may finally reveal itself."

A dangerous gleam surfaced within his eyes, "After all. I am a Faithful."

The room became silent as the Myth of Oracle naturally understood what that implied. To ordinary people, Divine Faith was a blessing, but to certain fallen beings, such as the Undead Skyfall, it was irresistible prey.

The Myth of Oracle finally spoke, "Doesn’t that mean we’ll still have to fight that Fallen God?"

Her voice carried concern, "And are you truly confident? Even as a Faithful?"

The Myth of Reverend stared quietly into the crimson tea, and for a brief moment, something unfathomable flashed within his eyes, something ancient and hidden before it vanished.

"I have my ways." His voice remained calm, "Please be assured. According to our arrangement, you won’t be entering Sagittarius Continent with me."

The Myth of Oracle nodded, that had always been the plan since her role was to command the Coalition, while the Myth of Reverend’s role was to retrieve the target. Neither would interfere with the other’s responsibilities.

Yet just as she relaxed slightly, the Myth of Reverend suddenly smiled strangely, which immediately made the Myth of Oracle alert.

"As for making sure what we’re walking into..."

He slowly stood, and the projections throughout the room shifted as countless streams of information began flowing before his eyes.

"I believe it is time to catch the rat I’ve allowed to run free."

The Myth of Oracle’s eyes sharpened as she instantly thought of someone, "You mean...?"

The Myth of Reverend nodded with a sly smile before he clasped his hands behind his back, his gaze drifting toward the distant depths of the Sagittarius Continent.

"Every grand operation attracts curious observers. Some hide, some investigate, and some believe themselves clever enough to play both sides."

A cold amusement appeared on his face, "I’ve ignored him until now because he still possessed value. But with events progressing this quickly..."

His eyes narrowed, "I would rather hear the truth directly from the source. After all, with his resourcefulness, he’ll have more information about the Undead Skyfall’s sudden retreat than the Myth of Black Archer, who had just entered."

The Myth of Oracle became thoughtful, "So that’s why you let him retreat into the Sagittarius Continent in the first place. I have to admit, I’m starting to doubt myself as an oracle since you seemed to possess far greater vision than I!"

"You jest, Lady Oracle, I’m no match for you once you become a true Mythical Being, at that time I won’t even dare to make you my enemy." The Myth of Reverend modestly replied as if extremely humble.

But the mysterious smile he wore seemed like that of someone who was neither confirming nor denying anything, yet somehow it carried absolute confidence.

The Myth of Oracle also doesn’t believe him for a least bit since without a powerful God’s support, she still won’t be able to pry into matters regarding higher beings unless she reaches a similar realm or surpasses them, just like what’s happening right now with the Undead Skyfall and Myth of Reverend.

"Anyway, I was only able to achieve this because I have a suspicion. And if I’m correct..." His fingers lightly tapped the table as a golden-blue glyph briefly appeared before disappearing again, "...then this little rat may end up becoming far more useful than anyone realizes."

The Myth of Oracle watched him quietly, as for some reason, she suddenly pitied ’Nell,’ who had caught the attention of the Myth of Reverend. Because throughout all her years beside him, she had never once seen his suspicions prove wrong, not even once.

"Well, since you want to capture him again, it won’t be easy unless you are planning on entering personally." The Myth of Oracle said matter-of-factly, "Do you want me to divert Myth of Black Archer in his way?"

The Myth of Reverend became thoughtful before shaking his head. "No one in the Mythical Coalition will be able to confront him, much less capture him alive, unless, of course, the Coalition Master moves personally."

Myth of Oracle felt slightly offended by Myth of Reverend’s underlying disdain for her coalition members, but she had to admit the latter was right.

"Then what’s your plan? Don’t tell me you’re really going personally?" The Myth of Oracle impassively inquired.

The Myth of Reverend smiled mysteriously as he replied with a laidback attitude, "Let’s wait for the news from the Vanguard Fleet. Once they find the survivors and hopefully the ’target’ admits them, it won’t be too late to show you what I have in mind. Just think of it as a surprise I’m preparing for you, Lady Oracle!"

The Myth of Oracle, despite her deep curiosity, didn’t seek further clarification, as it would be meaningless, since the Myth of Reverend wouldn’t disclose more information unless he wanted to.

The next moment, the Myth of Oracle stood up as she stated, "Alright, since you already have everything under control, I’m heading back to the main control center. If someone came up, I’ll seek you out."

The Myth of Reverend nodded with a smile and didn’t stop the Myth of Oracle. Once she was finally gone and the door closed, his carefree expression instantly shifted into a grave one, as if the laid-back attitude were merely a mask to appease or trick the Myth of Oracle.

At this moment, the Myth of Reverend muttered something shocking, "God of Hollow Undead retreated just because he’s afraid of us and running out of power? Is this really the same God of Hollow Undead that even the ’Lord’ warned me about!?"
