Chapter 159: Chapter 97: Young Master Chu Wei

At dawn that day, in the Ancestral Hall.

Xuzhuang sat cross-legged on a meditation cushion at the foot of the Ancestral Master Jade Statue, his eyes half-closed and his expression serene. An hour had passed. Just as the stick of Profound Incense in the censer was about to burn out, his expression suddenly shifted.

A golden page materialized out of thin air before the Ancestral Master Jade Statue, fluttering down. Without any perceptible movement from Xuzhuang, the golden page flew directly before him, where it stopped and unfurled.

Xuzhuang opened his eyes and scanned its contents, raising a single eyebrow.

Earlier that morning, he had sent a message to the Profound Yellow Tai Su Sect, explaining the current situation in the Celestial Waterfall Realm and the prospect of vying for the status of a Five Domains Great Sect and obtaining the methods of a Grotto Heaven Zhenren.

This golden page was the sect’s reply, penned by Daochen Zhenren himself.

However, it contained only a single sentence, stating that as the one in charge of the True Form Temple, Xuzhuang was free to handle all matters in the Celestial Waterfall Realm as he saw fit.

That was it. Nothing more. It seemed the sect didn’t think much of the Dao of Grotto Heavens.

This result did not entirely surprise Xuzhuang. After a night of quiet contemplation, he concluded that the Dao of Grotto Heavens must not be what it appeared; it could not be comparable to a supreme, orthodox path like the Primordial Spirit Dao. Otherwise, with Daochen Zhenren having presided over the True Form Temple for centuries, the sect would surely not have remained so indifferent.

Xuzhuang sank into thought. ’Perhaps in the boundless cosmos, paths like the Dao of Grotto Heavens, distinct from the Primordial Spirit Dao, aren’t so rare? I wonder if these methods can lead to the Pure Yang Dao, or even allow one to achieve Immortal Merits?’

Xuzhuang shook his head, stowed the golden page, then stood and walked out of the hall.

A young disciple was waiting outside the hall. Upon seeing Xuzhuang emerge, he quickly bowed. "Elder Xu, the Sect Leader sent me to inform you that the visitors from the Divine Flow Sect have arrived. The Sect Leader is hosting them in the main hall now."

Xuzhuang raised an eyebrow and glanced at the sky. It was still four hours until the appointed time. ’This Young Master Chu Wei really is a willful one.’

"I understand. I’ll head over now." Xuzhuang nodded, dismissed the young disciple, and rode the wind, landing outside the main hall a moment later.

Xuzhuang could already hear a clamor from within the hall. He was in no hurry. He leisurely straightened his robes before ascending the steps and crossing the threshold.

As soon as he entered, he saw a young master with a frivolous expression sprawled arrogantly in a chair. He wore a White Jade Crown and a golden circlet across his brow. He was flanked by two beautiful young women. One knelt beside him, offering tea, while the other stood behind his chair, fanning him with a silver-rimmed, bamboo-slat fan held in her slender fingers.

This, of course, was Young Master Chu Wei of the Divine Flow Sect.

Daoist Zhang sat in the host’s seat, stroking his long beard. Two Daoist Children stood at attention to the side, exchanging glances as they took in Young Master Chu Wei’s decadent display.

As Xuzhuang entered, Young Master Chu Wei was engrossed in sipping his tea, attended by the young woman, and didn’t even raise an eyelid. He only looked up when he heard Daoist Zhang rise and call out respectfully, "Junior Martial Uncle, you’ve arrived."

’Junior Martial Uncle?’ A thought struck Young Master Chu Wei.

As the one in charge of the Divine Flow Sect’s affairs in Fenglan Province, he was of course aware of the matter on Lianyun Mountain. Someone had even traveled a great distance to bring him news, so this mysterious "Martial Grand-Uncle" of the True Form Temple had long been on the Divine Flow Sect’s radar.

Young Master Chu Wei jutted his chin, and the serving girl discreetly moved the teacup aside. He looked up to see a young Daoist in flowing, wide-sleeved robes sit down across from him.

Young Master Chu Wei froze for a moment. Then, as if recalling something, he suddenly burst out laughing. He laughed so hard he doubled over, stamping his feet and slapping his hand on the table. The girl at his knee rushed to steady his arm while the one behind him bent to soothe his back, but he continued to roar with laughter.

This sudden outburst cut short the greetings between Daoist Zhang and Xuzhuang. Daoist Zhang frowned slightly and asked, "What do you find so amusing, Fellow Daoist?"

Still bent over with laughter, Young Master Chu Wei waved away the two serving women. He laughed for another moment before finally catching his breath. Paying Daoist Zhang no mind, he pointed at Xuzhuang. "So it’s you! Those fools weren’t lying after all. You really are... hm, exceptionally handsome, with a transcendent air about you! Haha! HAHAHAHA!"

"This...?" Daoist Zhang twirled his beard, his gaze shifting to Xuzhuang in a silent question.

Xuzhuang’s expression remained neutral. "Oh? So, Fellow Daoist Chu recognizes me."

Young Master Chu Wei chortled. "Recognize you? Of course I do. I saw your portrait just recently. Weren’t you the one who just snatched a Jade Beauty right from under my nose? Yes, you were. But I still don’t know your name, Fellow Daoist."

’A Jade Beauty?’ Daoist Zhang immediately thought of the expressionless serving girl in Xuzhuang’s manor, the one who never went outside. His heart sank.

Xuzhuang wasn’t surprised. He ignored the jab and simply said, "Xuzhuang. You may address me as you wish, Fellow Daoist."

Seeing his placid reaction, Young Master Chu Wei didn’t seem annoyed. "So, you’re Fellow Daoist Xu," he said, then turned back to ask, "Sect Leader Zhang, I’m curious. Who calls the shots at the True Form Temple these days? You, or Fellow Daoist Xu?"

Daoist Zhang glanced at Xuzhuang. After receiving a slight nod, he replied, "Junior Martial Uncle Xu’s will represents the will of the True Form Temple."

Young Master Chu Wei clapped his hands and boomed with laughter. "Excellent! Then I’ll speak directly with Fellow Daoist Xu."

Xuzhuang remained impassive. "Oh? And what important business has brought you to our door today, Fellow Daoist?"

"I heard the True Form Temple is raising a flood dragon. I’ve come specifically to ask for it." Young Master Chu Wei leaned back in his chair and stated matter-of-factly, "As you know, Fellow Daoist, my Divine Flow Sect presides over the Land of Three States. Summoning clouds and creating rain is a truly tedious affair. How very convenient that you have one."

Xuzhuang hadn’t expected him to say something so outrageous, and with such an entitled air. He wasn’t angered, however. He simply gave a wry smile and replied, "I see. However, that flood dragon is my personal spirit beast. I’m afraid I cannot give it to your esteemed sect."
