Dawn Walker

Chapter 457: Ten Minutes of Power III

The prisoners’ blood he had drunk before coming here had increased his Blood Proficiency. His control felt smoother now. The blood answered faster. He could use smaller amounts more efficiently than before.

At some critical moment he can upgrade one of his skills. But for now he formed dozens of thin blood needles instead of another sword.

They flew from different directions.

Dickoff covered his face with one arm.

Most needles broke against his hardened skin, but several entered the wound near his jaw. Others struck his eyes.

Dickoff shouted and stepped backward. One blood needle entered his left eye.

Black blood came out of his left eye.

Sekhmet pulled with Blood Control.

The blood inside the eye reacted.

Dickoff screamed louder and grabbed his face in pain.

Sekhmet tried to pull more blood from the wound, but the black chaos energy inside Dickoff resisted him. It moved through the blood like thick poison and broke Sekhmet’s control before he could cause greater damage.

Still, the attack had worked.

Dickoff lowered his hand. His left eye was damaged. But it was already trying to heal, but much more slowly than Sekhmet’s wounds.

Sekhmet looked at the system countdown notification.

[External Energy Remaining of Dickoff: 07:19]

Dickoff looked at him with one working eye and rage twisted across his face.

"You think you can wait until the power ends."

Sekhmet did not deny it.

Dickoff understood it very well. It was the power to that seed which made him more intelligent. That made him more dangerous.

Until now, he had been enjoying the strength and trying to humiliate Sekhmet. He had wasted time speaking, walking, and showing that he could survive attacks.

Now he knew he had a limit. The black veins across his body pulsed faster.

Dickoff raised both hands. The chaos stones around the hall began dying at an even greater speed.

Several million lost their light together.

Black energy exploded from Dickoff’s body and covered the entire room.

The pressure forced Sekhmet down onto one knee.

The damaged pillars cracked again. The remaining windows shattered outward. Walls around the central hall shook hard enough that servants in nearby rooms screamed and ran.

Mira and Lily were forced several steps back from the side entrance.

Vera and Vela also felt the pressure through the walls.

Raka and the lesser vampires surrounding the estate saw black energy rise above the mansion like smoke.

Raka immediately took out the communication stone.

"Young master!"

Sekhmet heard the stone, but he did not answer.

Dickoff stood in the middle of the black energy.

The hard patches on his body spread farther. They now covered most of his right arm and part of his chest. The shape resembled rough black armor, but it was growing from under his skin rather than resting over it.

His battle power rose again.

[Overall Battle Power: 151,000

External Energy Remaining: 06:52]

He was burning the remaining time faster to gain more power.

Dickoff disappeared from Sekhmet’s sight.

The next hit landed against Sekhmet’s stomach. His body folded around the fist.

The impact lifted him from the floor and carried him backward through one pillar, then through part of the inner wall. He entered the next room surrounded by broken stone and wood.

His spine cracked.

Several organs ruptured.

For one moment, his vision went black.

The System appeared through the pain.

[Warning: Host has suffered severe internal damage.

Blood Regeneration activated.

Chaos Energy is being consumed rapidly.]

Sekhmet could still feel the Void Land. That connection had not broken. He opened his eyes.

Dickoff stepped through the hole in the wall. His damaged left eye had partly healed. The pupil remained misshapen, but he could see with it again.

"You are finished," Dickoff said.

Sekhmet pushed himself up using one hand. His body was still repairing the spine.

He could continue delaying Dickoff, but the risk was increasing. One clean strike to the head or heart before regeneration could respond would end the fight.

He had already learned enough.

Dickoff’s power was real and temporary. It was also beyond what the people outside the hall could safely face.

Sekhmet reached toward the Void Land connection.

Dickoff saw the chaos energy movement and rushed forward.

Sekhmet opened the gate.

Darkness split the air between them.

Dickoff’s fist entered the opening first and disappeared into the Void Land. His body stopped because he had not expected the space in front of Sekhmet to change.

Sekhmet moved aside.

Dickoff pulled his arm back and stared at the dark entrance.

Two figures were already walking through it.

Sofia came first.

Natasha followed beside her.

They still carried the sealed strength of chaos rank five which Sekhmet had allowed them before, but both looked at his injuries and immediately understood that this was not an ordinary enemy.

Sofia’s eyes moved toward Dickoff.

Natasha looked at the black energy around his body.

Sekhmet stood behind them while his spine continued healing.

He raised the control ring.

Both women felt the seal respond.

Sekhmet looked at them and spoke clearly.

"I am removing every seal."

Sofia and Natasha became completely still.

The control ring began shining. The first layer broke. Then the second.

Power that had been buried inside the two ancient vampires for a long time began waking.

The walls around them trembled again, but this time Dickoff was not the cause.

Sekhmet kept his eyes on both women.

"This is the test you asked for."

The final seal started opening.

"Show me what your loyalty is worth."

"You called these two women?" Dickoff asked. "The same two you called in the underground market?"

He stared at Sofia and Natasha as they stood in front of the dark entrance to the Void Land. His blackened face twisted into a mocking smile. The hard stone-like substance covering his right arm continued spreading toward his shoulder, while thick black veins moved across the exposed parts of his neck. Chaos energy rolled from his body in heavy waves, crushing the broken stones beneath his feet and forcing dust away from him in a wide circle.

"I remember them," Dickoff continued. "They killed the two people Mihos sent. They looked powerful against Chaos Rank Five opponents, but that is all they are. Chaos Rank Five." He raised his darkened hand and opened his fingers slowly. "Do you truly believe two Rank Five women can protect you from what I have become?"

Sofia and Natasha did not respond to him.

Their attention remained on Sekhmet.

The control ring around his finger was shining brighter with every passing moment. Thin lines of red light moved across its surface as the last seals around their power began opening. Both women could feel the change inside their bodies, but the power had not returned completely yet. It was rising layer by layer, like an ancient beast waking after being chained beneath the earth for thousands of years.

Dickoff saw that they were ignoring him and laughed again.

"You were so confident when you entered this house," he said to Sekhmet. "Now you are hiding behind prisoners. Is this the great strength that destroyed Iron House? You bring two women who were already defeated and sealed, then expect them to save your life?"

Sekhmet pushed himself fully upright.

His spine had nearly finished repairing, but pain still remained throughout his back and stomach. The strike Dickoff had landed was powerful enough to destroy a normal Chaos Rank Three body several times over. If Sekhmet had not possessed Blood Regeneration, he would already have been lying dead beneath the broken wall.

He wiped the remaining blood from the corner of his mouth and looked at Dickoff.

"We will see about that."

The mockery disappeared from Dickoff’s face for a moment.

Sekhmet turned his eyes toward Sofia and Natasha.

"Delay him for six minutes and thirty-six seconds," he said. "After that, his borrowed power will be gone."

The hall became silent.

Even the thick waves of chaos energy around Dickoff seemed less important after those words.

Dickoff stared at Sekhmet.

Six minutes and thirty-six seconds.

Not approximately six minutes.

Not until the artifact weakened.

An exact number.

His eyes widened slightly before he forced his expression back under control.

"How do you know that?"

Sekhmet did not answer.

The System countdown remained visible only to him.

[External Energy Remaining: 06:34]

The time was already continuing to fall.

Dickoff looked down at his right hand. The black seed remained buried somewhere inside his flesh. He could feel its power flowing through every part of his body, but he could not see the limit Sekhmet had just spoken about. Mihos had told him the one hundred million low-grade chaos stones would provide almost ten minutes of strength, but Dickoff had never told Sekhmet that.

No one inside Iron House knew the exact time.

Even the servants who carried the chaos stones into the hall only knew that the treasury had been emptied. They did not know how the artifact worked or how long its power would last.
