For the first time, Sofia’s expression showed a little surprise.
Natasha looked toward the crater.
"She is stronger than her rank suggests."
Sekhmet did not answer.
Elena landed near the edge of the crater.
Her shoulder was still healing.
Stephen lay at the bottom.
For a moment, nothing happened.
Then he stood.
Blood ran from one corner of his mouth.
He wiped it away with one finger and looked at the red stain.
Elena’s attack had hurt him.
Not badly.
But enough.
Stephen looked toward her again.
"You always were troublesome."
Elena’s eyes narrowed. "You don’t know me that well."
"I know enough about every servant of Dawn House."
He stepped out of the crater.
This time his expression had changed.
The casual patience was gone.
The pressure around him increased until Sekhmet felt his body becoming heavier despite standing far away.
Sofia and Natasha both adjusted their positions.
Sekhmet looked toward Elena.
Her wound had finally closed, but she was breathing slightly harder.
Stephen had barely begun.
Elena knew it too.
The next exchange was different.
Stephen raised both hands. The courtyard changed. That was the only way Sekhmet could understand what happened.
One moment, there was open space between Stephen and Elena.
The next moment, that space became hostile.
Elena tried to move forward. Her body slowed. It was not because Stephen had grabbed her. Not because of pressure alone.
The distance itself seemed harder to cross.
She took one step that should have carried her ten feet.
It carried her less than one.
Stephen walked normally.
Elena’s expression changed.
She forced more divine chaos energy through her body.
The ground beneath her feet cracked despite the strange protection around it earlier.
She pushed forward.
Stephen reached her first.
His palm struck her chest.
Elena flew backward.
She smashed through one of the courtyard statues and continued into the mansion wall.
The entire section collapsed around her.
"Elena!"
Sekhmet moved instinctively.
Sofia stopped him with one arm.
"My king."
Sekhmet looked at her.
She shook her head.
"You cannot enter that."
Natasha was looking toward Stephen.
"He is not fighting like a normal cultivator."
Sekhmet knew that already.
His Blood Eye could barely follow parts of what Stephen and Elena were doing. Their battle was not simply about speed and strength. Something else was being used between their attacks.
Something his current power did not understand.
The mansion debris exploded outward.
Elena emerged. Blood covered the front of her clothes. One side of her chest had been crushed inward. Her divine body was already repairing it.
She did not stop. She rushed Stephen again.
This time she stretched one hand toward him before getting close.
The ground beneath Stephen became dark.
His feet sank.
Not into broken stone.
Into stone that behaved like deep mud despite still looking completely solid.
Stephen looked down.
Elena reached him.
Her fist struck his jaw.
Then her knee hit his stomach.
Then another punch struck the side of his head.
Stephen tried to move away, but his legs remained trapped for one precious second.
Elena used that second completely.
She struck him again and again.
Each attack carried enough power to tear apart the Iron House mansion if it missed.
Stephen’s face bled. His coat tore. His body was pushed deeper into the changed ground.
Mihos still did not stand. He rested one elbow against the side of the stone seat.
Several Iron House servants looked toward him as if they could not understand why he remained so relaxed.
Mihos noticed.
"You think she is winning?"
No one dared answer.
Mihos smiled slightly.
"She is trying harder."
That was different.
Stephen blocked Elena’s next fist.
His hand closed around her wrist.
The strange pressure around him changed again.
Elena’s eyes widened.
Stephen twisted.
Crack!
Elena’s arm broke.
Not at the elbow.
The entire bone inside her forearm shattered beneath his grip.
Stephen pulled her forward and drove his shoulder into her chest.
Elena coughed blood.
He released her wrist, turned, and kicked her across the courtyard.
She flew through three stone pillars before stopping inside the remains of a side building.
Sekhmet clenched his hands. The difference was becoming clearer. Elena could hurt Stephen alone.
But every time Stephen became more serious, he took control of the battle again.
Sekhmet looked at Sofia and Natasha.
"Go. Help her."
Both women turned toward him.
Sofia asked, "You want us to fight a mid level God?"
"Yes."
There was no hesitation in his answer.
Natasha looked toward Stephen. Then she smiled faintly.
"It has been a long time."
Sofia sighed.
"You say that as if this is entertainment."
"It is better than moving rocks with prisoners."
Sofia could not argue with that.
Both women stepped forward. Two enormous blood-red chaos energy rose from the courtyard.
Several Iron House servants fainted immediately. The others dropped to their knees. Even Raka and the lesser vampires outside the estate felt the pressure.
Stephen turned toward them.
Elena emerged from the broken building at the same moment. Her arm was already repairing itself. She looked toward Sofia and Natasha.
"You two should protect Sekhmet."
Sekhmet answered before either woman could.
"They are helping you."
Elena looked at him.
For one moment, she appeared ready to argue.
Then Stephen attacked.
There was no more time.
Sofia moved first.
Her blood spread across the courtyard in dozens of thin lines.
Natasha disappeared from beside her and appeared behind Stephen.
Elena attacked from the front.
Stephen blocked Elena’s fist.
Natasha’s claws entered his back.
Blood appeared.
Sofia immediately took control of that blood.
She pulled.
Stephen’s wound opened wider.
His expression changed.
Elena struck his face.
Natasha kicked the back of his knee.
Stephen dropped half a step.
Sofia created two blood chains and wrapped them around his arms.
For the first time since the fight began, Stephen was forced backward.
Elena did not waste the opening.
The strange force around her spread through the ground again.
Stone rose around Stephen’s legs and locked them in place.
Natasha appeared above him. Her claws came down toward his throat.
