Death… And Me

Chapter 4486: Seconds

"Hahaha! Look at this!" Calol laughed loudly. "The little shit thinks she can do something!"

To him, the fox’s attempt at protecting the others was nothing more than an amusing joke. Regardless of how special she was, there was no way a creature at her level could threaten him.

Dark Element began gathering around Calol’s feet as he casually raised his leg. He didn’t even bother using a technique. In his eyes, a simple kick was more than enough to deal with the fox.

Then, he kicked forward.

*Bang!*

The attack landed before anyone could react.

*Whimper!*

The fox’s small body was sent flying like a bullet. Several bones broke immediately from the impact, and she crashed into the ash-covered hill behind her, creating a small crater. The flames surrounding her body disappeared as she fell into the ashes.

For a moment, nobody could tell if she was still alive.

Calol and his two companions looked at the fox’s unmoving body and laughed. "Hahaha! What a piece of shit."

However, their laughter didn’t last long.

Another voice suddenly echoed in their ears. "How about I make you feel even worse?"

Before Calol and his companions could understand what was happening, Rean and Roan moved.

’Red Death, Dragon Claws!’

’Red Death, Death Cross!’

Their weapons flashed at the same time, releasing streaks of bright and dark red lightning that cut through the air. The three experts had their attention completely focused on the fox and had never expected anyone from the twins’ group to still be capable of attacking.

Because of that, they had no chance to defend themselves.

The attacks passed through them, and the heads of the three Zone Gods were sent flying.

Rean immediately rushed toward the fox. Yet, before he even reached her, she had already managed to crawl out of the ashes by herself. Her body was heavily injured, but her incredible physical strength had allowed her to survive the attack.

*Raw...r...*

"Sigh..." Rean picked her up carefully. "You really don’t know when to take a step back, do you?"

Even after almost getting killed, she had still tried to protect everyone.

’Life Style, Instant Recovery!’

White light surrounded the fox as Rean began healing her injuries.

On the other side, Roan looked toward the rest of the group, who were still lying on the ground unable to move.

"How... are you doing that?"

His question was directed at Rean and himself, as everyone else had the same doubt. How had they managed to move under that terrifying pressure?

Roan’s scythes disappeared right after. The truth was that Rean and Roan were not actually unaffected by the Godly Pressure either. They had only managed to act because, without anyone noticing, they had consumed one of Roan’s Anti-Godly Pressure Pills.

However, even that wasn’t enough to completely resist the environment.

*Tud!*

*Tud!*

"Fuck! There is too much Godly Pressure!"

The twins’ bodies were immediately pushed down again. The pill that normally lasted for several minutes had been completely overwhelmed, lasting no more than ten seconds under this terrifying concentration of Godly Pressure.

Now, the only one still standing outside the Vault was Coyui.

The old man remained frozen for a moment, staring at the three corpses in disbelief. He had been certain that these cultivators would die the moment they stepped outside, yet they had somehow killed three Zone Gods in the blink of an eye.

"So lucky..." Coyui muttered.

"Hey, can you give us a hand here?" Kentucky called out from the ground. He was also unable to move under the pressure.

Coyui finally recovered and quickly moved to help them. One by one, he dragged everyone back toward the Vault entrance. The moment their bodies crossed the boundary, the terrifying Godly Pressure disappeared completely, leaving no trace behind.

It was as if the outside world and the interior of the Vault were two completely different places.

After some time, everyone managed to stand again. However, the weakness caused by remaining under such intense Godly Pressure did not disappear immediately.

Once he dragged Rean and the fox inside as well, Coyui finally spoke. "I told you that you shouldn’t have gone outside."

He then turned his attention toward Rean and Roan, his expression becoming serious. "You were extremely lucky just now, you know that?"

The twins immediately understood what he meant.

"You’re talking about our cultivation, aren’t you?" Rean asked. "Those three were all Zone Gods, while the two of us are only Aura Gods. If it wasn’t for the fact that they were distracted by our fox, we wouldn’t have been able to catch them off guard."

"Exactly!" Coyui sighed. "Anyway, all of you wait here. I’ll get rid of those guys’ bodies. The last thing we need is for more of their companions to find us here. Damn it, things have really gone south."

Coyui didn’t wait for an answer and rushed back outside.

Meanwhile, Arcis and the others approached the twins again. The question that had been bothering them since the battle could no longer wait.

"How were you able to move with all that Godly Pressure?"

Rean and Roan exchanged a glance.

’We can’t tell them the truth,’ Rean warned through their connection. ’I can feel the pink faeries inside our bodies stirring. They are on the verge of awakening. The only reason they haven’t yet is because Arcis and the others still don’t know how we did it.’

Roan understood immediately. ’Then we will need another explanation. Follow my lead.’

Roan turned toward the others. "Take a look yourselves."

*Burst!*

Suddenly, several blood vessels across the twins’ bodies ruptured, and blood sprayed out.

Arcis and the others were taken aback. They wanted to examine the twins properly, but their Celestial Senses and even their Godly Senses were unable to function normally inside this place. Considering they were inside the City Prison of Woster, it wasn’t surprising that such restrictions existed.

Still, seeing the pain on Rean and Roan’s faces, as well as their struggle to control their bodies, made it obvious that whatever they had done came with a severe price.

"W-What did you do?" Arcis asked, worried.

The twins were valuable allies, and their safety was still his priority.

"Channel burst," Roan explained while pretending to suppress the backlash. "We forcefully circulated a gigantic amount of energy through our meridians to push our bodies forward. It doesn’t make us stronger. If anything, it damages us."

He paused for a moment before continuing.

"Think about it as controlling our bodies like they are puppets, with our meridians acting as the strings. It should only be used in an extreme situation, like the one we faced just now."

Rean immediately understood the lie behind Roan’s words. Since Celestial and Godly Senses didn’t work properly here, nobody could verify whether the explanation was real or not. If their senses had worked normally, they would have discovered the deception instantly by examining their bodies.

Fortunately, the pink faeries inside their bodies finally stopped stirring.

"To think you can use such an ability..." Arcis said, taking a deep breath.

"There is nothing good about it at all, as you can see," Roan replied. "Just like Coyui said, we were lucky. Those guys underestimated us and focused on the fox. That was basically our only chance."

Everyone then looked toward the Vault entrance.

If simply stepping outside meant they could barely move, how exactly were they supposed to explore the City Prison of Woster?

At that moment, Coyui returned. His expression was darker than before.

"So now you see, right?" he asked. "Let’s not waste time here anymore. Do whatever you did before and bring me out with you."
