Death Flag System: I Became An Extra From The Author Who Killed Me!
Chapter 182: Xesie"How long have they been going at it?"
Dennis asked as he watched the battle in front of him with Cillian, who was only staring at them before answering.
"At least ten minutes."
Spells were being thrown left and right as two women who were annoyed by each other’s presence were currently fighting. One had white hair and specialized in ice magic, while the other had blue-raven hair and was conjuring water spells.
There were a lot of people watching, most of them being guards of the same people who had stayed here.
"You! I was trying to be nice to you, and you’re annoying the hell out of me! We didn’t even do anything wrong!"
Willow spouted with an annoyed expression before seeing Dena return the same expression as she pointed right at the person behind Cillian.
"That guy keeps pestering me! What do you want me to do, stay still?!"
Dennis looked toward the person beside Cillian, who also looked at the same man. The person at fault was none other than Kash, who pointed at himself before shouting back.
"Hey, you pretty lady. Don’t start with me! What do you mean I was pestering you?! Are you still hung up on what I said four days ago?! I just want us to be introduced! Cillian said it, but I can’t?!"
Kash was pretty offended that Dena was being harsh toward him. How could he not be offended when he was only repeating some of Cillian’s words and thought he could use them to ease the group’s tension, but it turned out to be pestering Dena instead?
Kash couldn’t understand it, and neither could Cillian.
’Is this how everyone usually acts when they’re not serious about a situation?’
Then, he turned his attention to Dena.
’Hey, hey. I thought you were trying to tease them, but you’re getting teased back by your own trick.’
Cillian paused, feeling that his assumption a few days ago might have been wrong and that there was a reason why Dena was being like this.
That’s right. Cillian remembered how annoyed Dena was when she entered the party that Finn had made. Even when she dragged him away from the table, she looked at the people at the table with that look of hers.
’I might be overthinking this. But there’s no way they wouldn’t have noticed it.’
Then, as if Willow had read his mind, she suddenly blurted out something loud enough for everyone to hear.
"You hate nobles, aren’t you?"
This time, the loud Dena, who was not herself, turned quiet.
"Why? Did we do something wrong?"
It was only then that Dena dismissed her spell, her mood turning even sourer as she immediately went back to the carriage to change.
By the looks of it, after four days of trying to understand Dena even a little, Willow had somehow discovered something about her.
"Now, we’re finally done."
Cillian sighed.
"Let’s get moving. We’re the only ones left here."
Cillian didn’t really mind whether they had to fight bare-handed or through sorcery, as long as they didn’t hurt themselves. What made Cillian so focused despite the group’s little ’fight’ was the fact that they were nearing Xesie.
And he was too occupied to even think of anything else.
Soon, they began to move as Cillian looked forward to his first-ever visit to another city, something he was very eager to experience after the several boring days.
That’s right. He was bored.
’Here I am again.’
He still couldn’t forget the time when he had to halt his operations relating to the Underworld. Now that he was entering Xesie, he was going to have so much fun by crushing this family.
’You ruin the fun for me. I’ll ruin yours.’
That was what he decided to do.
His heart was ready for the full downfall of Xesie as he planned on exposing them to the world.
...
"It’s really long!"
"Holy moly. It’s so tall!"
The city was famous for its long and tall bridges. Not just that tall and long. They were indeed tall and long! They stretched across the city, connecting distant areas and rising high above the streets. Many were supported by large stone towers and were wide enough for people, carts, and carriages to pass through. From the bridges, people could see much of the city below. The bridges were the city’s most famous feature.
’We’re now in the middle part of the continent.’
Humanity was once a single empire under the rule of Emperor Dahlin before a revolution arose to stop the tyrant emperor from continuing his acts of evil. The three most prominent territories located right in the middle of the continent belonged to the Xesie, Mandate, and Quesna Families.
The last four families were located near the borders, and the Viola territory was included among them, located in the south. Anything other than that was a free city that remained under the jurisdiction of a few families, though it was mostly managed by the House of Lords and Commons.
Still, the reach of the great families was vast.
And Xesie was no different, as people from all across the continent flocked to this place.
This was where Cillian was going to be living for a while.
’Our Underworld slightly falls short compared to the Xesie Family’s famous bridges. Yet that difference is because they can show theirs to the world, unlike Xesie’s undercity. They’re in another class of their own. Holy shit.’
Pink hair and tall, long bridges. Just what can’t they do?
The ride continued. Since they had the privilege of being under the Xesie Family’s jurisdiction, there was no traffic on their path to hinder their travel before they reached the borders of this territory in no time.
Passing through the gates where they handled the verification, they entered the city, where people constantly moved along the wide bridges and streets. Merchants pushed their carts, travelers passed by, and locals gathered near small shops and stalls.
Buildings stood on both sides of the roads, connected by smaller bridges and walkways. The sound of footsteps, conversations, and carts filled the air. Despite the city’s unusual layout, people moved through it as if the bridges were ordinary streets.
Ordinary!
’We didn’t even have a bridge back on Viola. And this place have small bridges.’
The deeper they explored the territory, the more fascinated the people who had come from Viola became with the Xesie Family’s land.
But their destination didn’t end there.
Soon, they all reached the Xesie Family’s Sorcery Academy.
