"How many shirts did you bring with you?"

"It’s enough."

"What about pants and socks? Your underwear? The Academy uniform? I think I bought one yesterday. We have a lot of money now, so take everything you need."

Preparing the things Cillian needed today, the moment he left Viola, was the easy part. What was the hardest? It was the constant voice of his worried mother, Esther, as she continued looking around, pampering Cillian, and talking to him.

There was no stopping it. Cillian, who had only closed his eyes during most of the time he was forced to listen, eventually touched Esther’s shoulder, which made her stop.

"Mother, I have everything I need now."

From essentials to the necessary papers to enter the Xesie Family’s Sorcery Academy, Cillian got everything he needed, and all of it was stored in the bag he was about to bring with him.

The way Esther was moving around didn’t help at all. She was just tiring herself out, and Cillian didn’t want that.

’Will they be okay?’

Today was the day the transfer was happening.

Cillian’s family, who were offered a transfer to Xesie for ’close’ monitoring while being paid fully by the Xesie Family, rejected such an offer since their roots were in this place when all they needed to do was go along with the arrangement.

Besides, why would they need to transfer to a place where they held no influence?

Well, they were about to have some influence there now since Melissa would be in charge of building the branch of the Whisper Broker there. Though it wouldn’t be as big or influential, as they only needed connections there.

Of course, not only the Sparrows were offered such an arrangement. Everyone who had suffered from the Academy attack, along with their families, was given priority by the sons and daughters of Harper Xesie to do just that.

However, that was just what they wanted everyone to assume, since by doing this, they got to roam around Viola by masking their true intentions.

At least, that was what Cillian assumed if he remembered Scott’s words three days ago.

"I will go now."

Soon, Leo emerged from the wall while carrying a piece of bread in his hands. He handed it over to Cillian before saying,

"Are you sure your guard is enough for you? I can assign other people."

Cillian shook his head. That was enough of an answer for the same question that had kept repeating for the past few days already.

Then, Ella, who appeared teary-eyed as the nearby academy where she had been schooled before, which had prepared them for the Academy if she ever passed, was destroyed, immediately jumped toward Cillian and gave him a warm hug.

"Please be safe, brother."

Feeling the warmth of having a good, not perfect, family, since that was something he only needed, Cillian flashed a bright smile and said,

"I will! Visit me if you have time."

Cillian turned around without even looking back as he left their home. Then, walking through the street and taking a turn, he called out to the person who had also prepared his things.

"Let’s go, sir."

Darwin nodded as he began to move.

...

Silence.

Inside a huge carriage that could accommodate at least several people, an imaginary line bordered a group where there was one side for the extras and the side that belonged to the main cast of the novel... the previous novel, that is.

On the left was Cillian’s Investigative Crew club group, Phillip and Vin. Sitting beside Vin was Dennis, who was playing with what seemed to be a pseudo-Rubik’s cube. No matter how many times he twisted each block, he couldn’t solve it, with Ethan teaching him. Then, there was Dena exchanging papers with Cillian, who was seated between the groups.

On the right were the curious gazes of Kash, Melissa, Willow, and Ivy as they watched this peculiar group of people who were doing their own thing.

Aster was still absent, but he would be attending the Academy right before it started. The twins had decided to stay at the Elven Kingdom per the orders of their kingdom and had no time to confirm whether they were about to return or not. As for Clove, Freya’s younger brother, he was transferred to a different Sorcery Academy, the same as Freya, which saddened him a little.

Someone of Freya’s caliber could definitely be useful once she was in Xesie, since Freya was someone who was very strict but very efficient when it came to work.

However, she disappeared right after the events of God’s Descent, bringing Clove with her. He didn’t even see her at the awarding ceremony, nor did she leave a note saying that she was leaving.

’It almost looks like I’ve been dumped.’

Cillian chuckled at the mere thought. His action broke the silence in the room, and Willow used this time to break the ice.

"Hello, everyone. Looks like we’ll be together for three to four days, depending on our journey. I’d like to introduce myself."

Willow was always the type of person who would take the lead in a conversation, and just like today, she was doing it again.

"Not really interested."

"Same."

Both Dennis and Dena spoke at the same time, leaving Willow frozen in her place.

"Hey, don’t be like that. Come on, who knows if we’re going to be classmates!"

Kash tried to chime in, but Dena was pretty adamant about not trying to converse with them when, back at the Academy, they weren’t even talking.

"We’re cool."

She tried to make her stance strong enough to show that she didn’t want to communicate with them. Her thin, hazel eyes narrowed at everyone on the other side.

’Is this the difference between people in the Underworld and the above world? Do they have some sort of beef?’

Cillian was slightly amused. Now that he thought about it, there had not been a single time when he found Dena and Dennis conversing with people from Aster’s group, even back at the Academy, until now, when they were put in the same carriage.

But Cillian knew it would be bad during the upcoming journey.

"Dena, don’t be like that. You can keep the introduction... level."

"Oh..."

Dena then gave them the warmest smile she could muster, her long raven-black hair moving without any worry.

"My name is Dena Fritz. Pleasure to meet you all. I hope we can have a good time with each other."

She suddenly changed when Cillian told her that she shouldn’t do that, as if she would only listen to anything he said.

But Cillian found it interesting as he understood what she was trying to do.

’She’s teasing them.’

Cillian didn’t know if this was because of the frustration building up after realizing that they couldn’t continue their plan in the Underworld or something else, but she was free to do it.

’I really hope these guys can take her teases that much. I would probably tease them as well if not for the fact that I’m pretty busy with my own things.’

Cillian then moved his gaze to Dennis, who was still trying to solve the cube in his hands, and smirked.

’Looks like I don’t have to worry about this guy. He’s got something to distract himself.’
