DesertCraft: Fishing Pocket Heaven
Chapter 107: The Little Goblin’s PerspectiveInside the store.
Om nom nom nom! A highschool girl nibbled on her little cooked fish while her clever little eyes darted all around.
Eih! My name is Xiao Shuling. Shu as in book, Ling as in spirit!
It’s been two weeks and one day since I’ve came to this very mysterious world.
I still don’t know where mom went, but I’ve become friends with a fake big sister, a very kind uncle, and a big brother that likes to lie.
Eih! That big brother is also kinda silly.
He still thinks he can fool Xiao Ling’er, but humph, humph! Xiao Ling’er knows all his secrets!
Like how he keeps disappearing in the toilet or how he got seduced by fake big sister! Bad big brother! Bad big sister! Can’t fool Xiao Shuling!
Xiao Ling’er is very smart.jpg!
But mom always says it’s bad to be too smart, so Ling’er will pretend to not know.
It’s definitely not because that big bad brother bribes Xiao Ling’er with her favorite apple every other day! Ehe~
Wonder if big brother will reward Ling’er another apple today?
Slurp~ Xiao Shuling stared at the tasteless grilled fishu in her hands and imagined it was an apple.
Fuuu~ Ling’er weally misses mom’s cooking. Too bad there isn’t even a stove here.
Eih! Wonder how big brother liar cooks his fish? Does he have his own private kitchen hidden away in another dimension? Fuuu~
Xiao Shuling kininarimasu!
Eih! Maybe big brother liar will let Xiao Ling’er in someday, just like how he let fake big sister in.
“Little missy, whatcha thinking about? You’re drooling all over your fish bone.”
Xiao Shuling blinked, threw the nibbled-clean bone into her inventory, and looked at the uncle that needs to cut his beard.
“Eih! Uncle, little Ling’er isn’t drooling! Ling’er was just rinsing her mouth of the fishy taste!”
“Yeah? If ya say so. Bwahahaha~”
Xiao Shuling pouted and looked away from the annoying uncle, just in time to spot the big brother liar that likes coming out not long after fake big sister does.
“Eih! Over here, big brother!”
Yu Zhiye spotted the Miss Highschooler waving at him from their usual spot and went over to join them.
“Sheesh! Steve’s finally out. Any later and we’ll be done with dinner already! Bwahaha!”
Jack waved his half-finished fish that was probably not even enough to fill the gaps between his teeth.
Yu Zhiye shrugged. “Had to check the stove to make sure the fish didn’t overcook.”
“Yeah? Where cha opened up a stove this time? The toilet bowl? Bwahaha!”
Yu Zhiye rolled his eyes and played along. “Yeah, yeah, that’s why the grilled fish is golden brown.”
Jack almost choked on his fish bone but burst out laughing not long after.
On the other side, Xiao Shuling pouted. “Fuu! Uncle, even you are telling dirty jokes at dinner now?”
“Bwahaha! Little missy, it’s not my fault!” Jack pointed at the culprit. “Steve started it and guess it rubbed off on me. Bwahahaha!”
Yu Zhiye took the blame but he smiled without a care. Whatever. As long as they’re happy.
Happiness might not help fill their stomachs, but it’s better than nothing.
Considering the food shortage, dinner has been getting lighter for most of them.
Cooked fish was now a staple and hard bread softened by water helped padded the stomach.
Of course, the stacks of raw fish and bread in storage meant his own meals could be much more luxurious.
Heck, there’s even leftover ramen and snacks saved for special occasions.
But there’s no need to show off those out here. Eat less than what everybody else eats. Make up the rest during private time.
As for now… he did his best to finish eating when the other two finished.
That way, it won’t get awkward with one staring at the other…
Well, just ignore the little goblin that’s staring at him with puppy dog eyes that were clearly looking forward to dessert.
No apple today.
Knowing there’s no yummy reward today, Xiao Shuling pouted, but didn’t dwell on it. Her curious baby mode turned on again and her clever little eyes searched around for an after-dinner topic.
Spotting somebody, her eyes lit up.
“Eih! Lookie look! It’s a pretty new sister!”
Yu Zhiye followed her finger over to the other team’s circle and spotted the long black-haired beauty in a yukata that opened loosely at the collar to generously present a glimpse of the deep ravine.
Though her looks wasn’t on par with that smoking hot celebrity queen Chae Yoona, this lady definitely has that mature charm.
But it wasn’t her charm that attracted their interest. It was her fresh face.
“Well I’ll be damned.” Jack smacked his lips. “Heard they say that’s a survivor they picked up from somewhere out there today? She introduced herself as, er… Me-yeah-something Cowree.”
The little goblin chimed in: “Eih! It’s Miyashita Kaori!”
“Yeah, yeah, close enough.” Jack sighed. “Hey, why can’t everybody just have simple names like Steve and Jack?”
“Eih! Xiao Shuling is a very simple name too!”
“Yeah? If ya say so, little missy. Bwahahaha!”
The topic somehow derailed from the newcomer from there on. Well… probably because they don’t know much.
But no matter how Yu Zhiye thought about it, he felt there was something fishy about this new survivor’s arrival.
Like… how did she end up here of all places? Where did she come from? Why stay? What’s her talent? Is it powerful?
So many questions… and another new variable to watch out for.
Yu Zhiye glanced at his social butterfly that’s already making friends with this new variable like they were long lost sisters.
Good thing there’s a spy to figure things out for him. He’ll just ask her later tonight.
