DesertCraft: Fishing Pocket Heaven

Chapter 71: Undercurrents in the Night

While a fisherman enjoyed peaceful fishing mode, back at the store, the news of his “death” already spread around.

“Madaraka, it’s better that such a selfish prick dies. Not like we need that loser anymore.”

“Che. Can’t agree more, dawg.”

That was the general sentiment of this team.

Perhaps only the four-eyes felt it was a pity. “If he left behind his fishing rod, that would’ve been best for the greater good.”

“Ohoho, Mr. Kwan is right. A pity, but what’s lost is lost. We should focus more on what’s at hand, don’t you think?”

“Oh?” Kwan Minhwoo followed the pot-bellied man’s gaze and his line of sight landed on the uncle-niece pair chewing on their dinner in a sad mood. “Manager Kim, your idea is…”

Kim Sungho got up and slapped on an “innocent” smile. “The more the merrier. Mr. Kwan, that’s what you said. Ohoho. Let me go give it a try.”

That’s what he said, but Kwan Minhwoo didn’t believe that’s the only reason.

As a seasoned agent that has handled various cases back in their previous world, Kwan Minhwoo has long drawn out a profile for this Manager Kim.

This fatso’s tastes were quite different from his roughneck bald buddy.

One chased after proper ladies, the other acted like he fancied the matured, but secretly held improper thoughts for the young and tender.

Over the week, this fatso’s gaze strayed improperly countless times. Others might not noticed, but Kwan Minhwoo did.

Back in the modern life, such a potential offender would’ve long been on the watch list, or even locked up.

It’s just that… circumstances has changed.

What’s once taboo no longer applied here.

The only reason this fatso didn’t dare overstep was because there’s a pair of guardians blocking the way.

Now that one of those guardians have fallen… the time for playing house was coming to an end.

But is there any reason to stop this trend?

For Kwan Minhwoo? No.

Integrating all groups into one was indeed in line with his ambitions. It didn’t matter if it takes one or two sacrifices to do so.

That reminded him...

Kwan Minhwoo switched his gaze over to the market entrance, where that Chae Yoona leaned there like a fashion model to gaze outside.

Heh. This hot actress has plenty of history in the entertainment circle, but she’s still trying to play hard-to-get with them?

Now that they’ve reduced her rations to almost nothing, how long will it take for her to become their plaything?

Though she felt the heated gazes on her, Chae Yoona ignored them and stared out at the dark desert that mirrored her own future.

Did she really have no choice but to be the... town bike?

The night got longer and moonlight broke through the darkness, bringing an illusion of hope.

Staring at that beautiful double moon hanging up high in the sky, Yu Zhiye had very high hopes of catching more fish!

Dinner while fishing... turn the usual night patrol time into fishing...

In this time frame alone, he already netted 5 sandfish!

So much wasted time finally turned into useful resources!

“Hey, the night is still long Though the temperature is a bit colder, but it’s completely bearable! Oh, what a wonderful time to fish”

But perhaps he sung too loud and too cheerfully because the world couldn’t bear to let him sit still.

Rumble! Rumble! Rumble!

Out of nowhere, a strong quake shook the mountain and Yu Zhiye almost fell off his seat!

“What the hell is happening?!”

Since the quake did not subside, Yu Zhiye grabbed onto the ledge of his “window” to stabilize himself and took a peek outside.

One look shocked him to the core!

The world outside was changing. Literally!

Sand dunes were sinking and rising as if the land below was undergoing seismic shift...

At the same time, the lone store afar was actually pulling closer and closer like a boat seeking harbor on the sea of sand…

In sync, his field of vision was rising up, getting further and further from the sand below!

“What in the world…?”

The shocking changes stopped not long after, but this episode was enough to solve some of the mysteries in Yu Zhiye’s worldview!

“So that’s how it is…”

No wonder the mountain range got taller and closer every day!

That’s all just the land getting shifted in this direction every night!

If so, then things get interesting!

If he isn’t wrong, there must be another landmass on the other side!

Why?

Because if it’s not volcanic activity, then only when two landmasses collide together will mountains rise up from the crust!

That’s how this mountain range should’ve been formed!

While this happened, parts of the landmass gets folded upwards while the rest gets buried or gets pushed aside.

That should explain the daily changes in the pattern of the quicksand locations. Those might be the natural danger zones that flow down to the faults in the tectonic plates below...

But then, there was still a logical plot hole Yu Zhiye didn’t quite understand.

“How does that explain all the natural caves? How did the spider’s nest survive this land transformation? Why does nobody in the store feel the earthquake at night?”

Could all that be chalked up to some other heavenly laws or magic that was involved?

Another big mystery. Too many mysteries.

“Well, can’t expect any less from an extraordinary world, I suppose.”

Yu Zhiye didn’t dwell on it for long and simply went back to fishing… only for his line to cast out into nothing but normal sand.

“Damn. The quicksand moved away?!”

Bad news? His fishing zone was gone.

Good news? There’s now a landing pad below. Tomorrow, the fisherman will return to a life of glory!
