Day 14. Morning.
A new day begins, but today, everybody’s hopes turned to the store front.
Exactly one week flew by and right on schedule, the mysterious Gothic-themed village returned once more!
Standing outside the village entrance, Yu Zhiye watched a badass-looking teenage man heading in and can’t help but click his tongue. “Tsk, tsk, fate really never disappoints the protagonist.”
The anomaly was back. So was the opportunity. How convenient.
“Yeah? Who cha talking about, Steve?”
Yu Zhiye glanced back to see Jack and Miss Highschooler rubbing her sleepy-weepy eyes.
“Gud morning, big brother~”
“Mornin. Great to see you two are awake.”
“Great to see you too, Steve. Bwahaha!”
Jack then looked at their supply station. “Hey, good thing it’s back. That’s one less worry on my bucket list! Aight, ready to head in?”
The sleepy little goblin perked up. “Uncle, will we get some apples for little Ling’er?”
Jack laid out their agenda. “We’ll head over to the toolsmith to trade in our coal and get some pickaxes first. Then water for the next week. We’ll pick up some apples if there’s emeralds leftover. You, Steve?”
“Me?” Yu Zhiye pointed in the direction of the village farm. “I’ll just get some water for myself… then I’ll check around and see if there’s anything interesting.”
“Aight, if ya say so.” Jack didn’t pry what’s in his wallet and simply patted his shoulder. “Let’s split up and go shopping then! Steve, look out for yourself, alright? Don’t let those folks see your wealth.”
“Got it.”
After a little warning, the party broke into two and went their own ways.
It didn’t take long for Yu Zhiye to find the farmer that sold water buckets.
Like he expected, the farmer lived and hung out near the village farm.
What he didn’t expect was… the new scarecrow inserted in the fields.
A single glance sent a chill up his spine because...
It was a bag of skin… human skin stuffed by straw!
The creepiest part? Yu Zhiye recognized the face of that bloody skin…
It was Lackey B—the lapdog that got left behind in the village a week ago!
He thought death was his likely end, but who knew… even after death, he’ll get turned into a human scarecrow for this village farm!
As for what that scarecrow was in charge of scaring away? Isn’t that obvious?
Bet nobody would be stupid enough to trade wheat for emeralds anymore!
Heck, most probably wouldn’t even dare get close to the farmer to exchange for water!
Especially since Mr. Farmer here was giving them that creepy smile…
It was like the villagers knew they knew. So they no longer hid their clumsiness and didn’t even bother masking their true face!
Damn. There really was something wrong with this village!
Yu Zhiye cursed inside, but after checking that the coast was clear, he still gathered the courage to go get water.
It was either here or the village well.
But anybody with a brain knew getting free water there wouldn’t be a good idea… if it was even possible.
Hence, this farmer was the only choice.
Fortunately, nothing went wrong in the process. No jump scares. No price gouging. Just a friendly villager handing out as many buckets as he pays for.
Best part? Everything happened in the trade interface and nobody knew how many buckets he bought.
Still, Yu Zhiye avoided taking any chances. After spending an emerald to grab four apples to reward the little lucky charm, he took another road to leave.
A short detour around and he arrived at the toolsmith to pick up two pickaxes at an emerald each. Never know when they’ll come in handy.
Once everything on his shopping list was accounted for, Yu Zhiye wandered around to check on any NPCs he missed last time.
Indeed, there were a few more villager varieties including librarian, cleric, and even a shepherd that sells beds for three emeralds.
Not that anybody have the luxury of sleeping in one… well, maybe in the future. His hammock was good enough for now.
But this was all just a window shopping side quest.
What Yu Zhiye was really looking for was…
“There you are.”
In a dark alley different from the previous time, Yu Zhiye spotted the mysterious gypsy villager once more.
It was the wandering trader that sells special potions!
“Let’s see if the stocks refreshed…”
He pulled up the trade interface…
A single glance and he almost couldn’t hold back his drool!

[x60 Emerald > Random Devil Fruit Potion]
[x80 Emerald > Quirk Awakening Potion]
[x100 Emerald > Fountain of Youth Potion]
Yu Zhiye didn’t care much about the others, but… that last one!
[Fountain of Youth]
A sacred treasure of the fairy clan that grants the drinker eternal life.
“As expected! Immortality! Only for 100 emeralds?! No, that’s not the point!”
That’s already super expensive, but the most shocking part? That entry was actually grayed out!
“Somebody actually already bought it?! How?!”
Yu Zhiye didn’t even need to guess to know exactly who, but he was still completely baffled how that anomaly earned that much emeralds in a single week!
This week plus the last together totaled up to 130 emeralds! Even if that anomaly mined the entire mountain, there wouldn’t be that much, right?!
“That’s insane! Somebody like that is really on a whole different level than me…”
And here he thought owning multiple money printers was overpowered. But compared to the real big boss main character, it was nothing!
