Author’s pov~

The atmosphere inside the grand lecture hall was a chaotic blend of highborn arrogance and idle chatter.

Groups of young Alpha males leaned against the heavy mahogany desks, boasting loudly about recent hunting trials, while female nobles huddled in tight clusters, whispering among themselves as they touched up their makeup in small golden compacts.

At the very back of the room, far away from the noise, Adeline sat in absolute shadow. She had pulled her signature black hoodie low over her forehead, attempting to erase her presence from the room entirely.

Next to her, Sierra quietly scrolled through her phone, having just exchanged contact numbers with Adeline a few moments prior.

The low hum of conversation shifted as excited whispers began to ripple across the middle rows.

"Did you hear?" a female noble whispered loudly to her friend, applying a fresh coat of lip gloss.

"A new transfer student is coming in today. A girl. I heard her pack is closely related to the High Concord of the Four Thrones. I wonder who she could be..."

"I heard about her too," another noble chimed in, leaning forward with an eager smile. "Word is she’s absurdly pretty, bright, and comes from an exceptionally high pedigree. Someone like that is going to shake up the hierarchy here immediately."

"She’s basically royalty already," a third girl added, adjusting her diamond earrings. "If her pack really has direct ties to the High Concord, even the highborn nobles here will have to watch their tone around her."

The murmurs grew louder.

Adeline let out a faint, exhausted sigh. Fed up with the mindless chatter and the suffocating highborn air, she folded her arms onto the wooden desk, buried her face in her dark sleeves, and dragged her hood down even further.

She didn’t care about transfer students, pack politics, or highborn prestige. She just wanted the day to end.

Suddenly, the heavy double doors of the classroom swung open, and three figures stepped through the threshold.

A collective gasp echoed through the room, and the chaotic chatter died down instantly.

Sierra immediately glanced up from her phone, her eyes scanning the entrance as she took in the newcomers.

Adeline, however, didn’t care in the slightest. She remained slumped over her desk, her face buried in her arms, pretending to be dead or fast asleep.

She is trying so hard to be invisible, but the Moon Goddess has other plans for her, and so does her fate.

The three new transfers walked in with effortless confidence.

In the lead was a striking girl with perfectly styled hair and a carefully crafted, bright expression, flanked by two tall, broad-shouldered young men who carried themselves like seasoned warriors.

Knowing the rumour that her family had ties to the Four Thrones, several highborn nobles immediately stepped forward, eager to introduce themselves and secure an early alliance.

Of course, all the nobles would die to secure an alliance with the Four Thrones.

"Welcome to the academy," one of the noble girls cooed, flashing an inviting smile as she stepped into their path.

"We’ve been expecting your arrival all morning."

"Thank you so much," the new girl replied smoothly, her voice sweet, polished, and deeply calculated.

"It’s an absolute pleasure to join such an elite gathering. My brothers and I hope to make strong connections here very quickly."

However, the crowd’s attention quickly shifted past the girl to the two young men standing beside her.

The surrounding Alphas and females stared in quiet awe, fascinated by their commanding presence and sharp features.

They were quite a bit attractive.

More than the four Lycan Princes? NO.

DEFINITELY NOT!

Within seconds, a small crowd of highborn students swarmed the trio, welcoming them as if they had always belonged to the inner circle of the academy’s elite.

"Is it true your pack answers directly to the Concord?" an Alpha male asked eagerly. "We’ve heard incredible things about your family’s influence in the eastern territories."

"We prefer to let our actions speak for our status," one of the transfer brothers answered with an arrogant smirk, crossing his arms over his chest. "But yes, our family holds a very permanent seat near the top."

The heavy wooden doors creaked open once more, and an absolute, suffocating silence gripped the entire hall.

The crowd around the new transfers scattered instantly, the students scrambling back to their respective seats in hushed, terrified reverence.

The four Lycan princes—the absolute heirs to the High Thrones—stepped into the room.

They were breathtaking, dangerous, and radiating an overwhelming, predatory aura that made it difficult for lower-ranking wolves to even draw breath.

When I say low-ranking wolves, it definitely means the alphas and those highborn nobles who have the lowest ranking when compared to the Four Thrones.

As they passed down the central aisle, the three new transfers immediately lowered their heads, offering a respectful, carefully rehearsed bow.

The new girl looked up through her dark lashes after a respectful bow, her eyes practically drooling over the princes, a sweet, plastered smile fixed on her face as she prepared to make her move.

"Lords," she began, her voice dripping with artificial charm as she took a half-step forward, bowing her head slightly. "It is an honour to finally meet the heirs of the High Thrones in person. My name is—"

The four princes didn’t even slow down. With a single, cold, utterly dismissive glance, they walked straight past her, completely cutting her off mid-sentence.

A sharp flash of deep embarrassment flickered across the girl’s face, but she masked it quickly, swallowing her pride as the surrounding nobles gathered around her once more to whisper.

The four princes made their way toward their reserved seating at the very rear of the hall. But as they approached their seats, all four pairs of dark eyes shifted in unison, locking onto the very last row.

Following the heavy, intense gaze of the Lycan Lords, the rest of the classroom turned to look as well.

Every single eye in the room landed directly on the figure slumped over the desk—the girl buried inside the dark black hoodie.

Sierra looked up from her phone only to find the whole class staring at Adeline; she immediately nudged closer to Adeline as she saw the Princes of the Four Thrones looking at Adeline.

Slowly, Adeline lifted her head from her arms.

She pulled her hood back slightly, resting her hands casually inside her hoodie pockets.

Her face was entirely blank, her dark eyes cool, flat, and completely unbothered as she sat up straight and stared directly toward the front of the room.

The moment the three new transfers caught sight of her face, the atmosphere in the room completely fractured.

Three distinct voices echoed out simultaneously, sharp, loud, and filled with absolute disbelief, cutting through the silence of the room like a jagged blade:

"Adeline????"

"Adeline????"

"Adeline????"

The four princes, who had just continued to move towards their seats as soon as Adeline lifted her head, stopped dead in their tracks.

They turned on their heels, their dark, calculating eyes shifting away from the new transfers and locking onto Adeline with sharp, predatory focus.

They clearly stopped and turned to face them only because of the ’word’ that came out of their mouth.

Confusion spread through the other noble highborns in the class.

Adeline remained completely still, her hands buried deep in her pockets, staring straight back at the three familiar, haunting faces of her past with a cold, unreadable expression.
