Deviant Kings: Claimed by The Four Lycan Kings
Chapter 57: Sorry to DisappointAuthor’s pov~
The four Lycan princes stood frozen in the wide aisle, their imposing, highborn presence locking the entire lecture hall into an agonising standstill.
Their dark, sharp eyes flicked with lethal precision between the three new transfers and Adeline, who remained seated in the very back row, her hands buried deep in her black hoodie pockets.
Her face was a carved mask of ice. Cool, detached, and entirely unbothered, her gaze stayed locked on the three familiar figures from her nightmares—Chloe, Lucas, and Logan.
Beside her, Sierra leaned in, her brow furrowed in utter confusion as she glanced back and forth between the highborn transfers and her best friend.
"Adeline..." Sierra whispered under her breath, her voice barely carrying over the heavy silence. "Do you... do you actually know them?"
Adeline didn’t break her cold eye contact with the trio. She gave a single, slow nod of her head.
The two transfer brothers took a sharp, reflexive step forward. The shock written across their handsome features was raw, ugly, and impossible to hide.
They must be very shocked to find out the girl they thought was dead is now sitting in the most prestigious academy. The goddamn Royal Lycan Academy.
Lucas stared at her as if he were looking at a ghost dragged straight out of the underworld, his throat working as he swallowed hard.
"You’re... you’re still alive?" Lucas blurted out, his voice sharp and disbelieving, slicing right through the quiet room.
"Aren’t you supposed to be dead?!" Logan added instantly, his tone laced with horror and outrage.
They thought she was dead already? So, they wanted her dead in the first place.
The entire class gasped in collective horror. Whispers exploded in hushed, chaotic ripples among the noble students.
"They knew the scentless transfer?"
"Who is she...?"
"She was supposed to be dead?"
"Is she some kind of traitor who was thrown out to be a rogue?"
"How did she sneak into this academy under the Lord Protector’s protection?"
The highborns looked between the elite transfers and the scentless girl in the black hoodie, their minds spinning with scandal.
At the front of the aisle, Lord Raven, who had been entirely dismissive and uninterested in the transfers only a moment prior, was rigidly still.
A sudden, blinding wrath surged beneath Raven’s skin, turning his aura black and suffocating.
His jaw clenched so hard the muscles in his face turned rigid, his teeth grinding together with enough force to shatter stone.
His hands curled into tight, white-knuckled fists at his sides, his dark, predatory glare fixing on Lucas and Logan like an executioner measuring his targets. He was clearly not fully aware of their past.
They have no idea what Lord Raven would do to them after those words escaped their mouths.
The sheer, possessive fury radiating off him made the nearby nobles wince and back away.
Beside him, Lord Kieran silently observed the entire exchange. His sharp, calculating eyes travelled from the twin Alpha brothers to Chloe, and finally to Adeline’s blank face.
A dark, quiet realisation settled into Kieran’s mind, the missing pieces of a violent puzzle falling flawlessly into place.
Twin brothers.
Highborn Alphas from the Crescent Pack.
And their very first instinct upon seeing her is to express shock that she is alive.
Kieran’s lips thinned into a dangerous, imperceptible line.
They are her mates.
The two Alphas who severed the bond at the same time and left her to rot.
Lord Zyran and Lord Blake stood equally frozen, their highborn blood boiling with an unholy, dark wrath.
Zyran’s eyes flashed a lethal amber, his breathing heavy and measured, while Blake’s handsome features twisted into a cold, murderous glare aimed directly at the twin transfers.
Before the tension could snap into violence, Sierra slammed her hands down on her desk and stood up, her face flushed with defensive rage.
"What the hell is wrong with you both?!" Sierra snapped, her voice ringing out furiously against the stone walls. "Who gives you the right to walk in here and talk to her like that? And what the hell is that supposed to mean?!"
Adeline leaned back against her seat. She lifted her chin, a sharp, dangerous smirk slowly curling the corner of her lips, a look devoid of any warmth, carrying only the cold, lethal weight of a survivor.
"Seems like I didn’t get the memo that I was supposed to stay in my grave," Adeline said, her voice smooth, dark, and echoing clearly across the dead-silent lecture hall.
"Well, sorry to disappoint you all. I’m clearly very much alive."
The three transfers stood frozen in the central aisle, their polished highborn composure cracking under the sheer impossibility of the sight before them.
Lucas and Logan’s eyes were wide, fixed on Adeline as if a specter had clawed its way back from the grave.
They had been so certain, so absolute in their belief that leaving her broken and bleeding on the cold marble floor that night meant she was dead—swept away into the wildlands as nothing more than forgotten trash.
Yet here she sat, framed by the dark shadow of her hoodie, sitting comfortably in the most elite classroom of the Royal Lycan Academy.
Chloe, however, wasn’t nearly as stunned by the fact that Adeline was alive.
Her shock was rooted in pure, unadulterated venom. Her calculating eyes swept over Adeline’s casual frame, taking in the audacity of her presence.
Swallowing hard, Chloe forced her features back into a graceful, concerned mask, trying desperately to keep her elite image intact before the watchful eyes of the gathered nobles.
"Well..." Chloe began, her voice pitched with a delicate, rehearsed sweetness that made the air feel sickeningly thick. "We just didn’t expect to see you here of all places, Adeline. The last time we saw you, you were in no condition to travel."
She paused, taking a subtle step closer as her eyes narrowed with sharp curiosity.
"So tell us... how exactly did a scentless orphan, a wolfless rogue, manage to enter the gates of the Royal Lycan Academy?"
Before Adeline could even part her lips, Sierra slammed her hand against the mahogany desk, her eyes blazing with fury.
"That is absolutely none of your damn business, you bitch!"
